HEAVEN'S GATES
won't open up for me
Alarms blared and Emil Heidrich found himself pulled from his slumber and deposited back into the world of the living. The urge to slam a hand down upon the machinery and silence it flared inside of him, a few more hours of sleep would have been splendid. He could afford to waste no more time however for he had told himself that today would be a momentous day. It would be the beginning of a new chapter in his life, he would leave behind the weeping fool that he had been for the past few weeks and get his act together. Before he could turn the page and continue writing the story of his life however, the blond knew he would need to first truly awaken himself and eat.
Crawling out of his bed, he placed his bare feet on the wooden flooring that was his room in the Vatican. It was nice to be home and safe for what seemed like the first time in an eternity, the past few months hadn’t exactly been kind and they were anything but uneventful. The blond actually found himself wishing that things had been a tad bit quieter, that he had been able to laze about in this room and allow for the world to pass him by. Sadly, the comfort of this room meant that he was merely shirking other duties and as such he knew that he needed to leave it and soon. Emil needed to go back out into the dangers of the world despite what had been occurring over the recent months.
The outside world was entering into chaos.
It seemed as if the hollows were getting bolder and bolder as the time ticked by. Just a few shorts years ago and it would have been absolutely ludicrous to think of spotting a hollow within a ten mile radius of the Vatican. Mere months ago, however, Emil and a few others spotted hollows within the actual borders of the home of the Holy Council. The encounter ended with what some would have considered unavoidable bloodshed as certain individuals panicked and attacked the beasts.
Standing from his bed, he padded his way across the flooring and headed into the bathroom where he would begin to run the water for a warm shower.
One might have been proud of the Quincy who took part for dealing with the intrusion swiftly and effectively but the Knight-Commander didn’t smile upon such things. All who had raised their bow against the hollows had found their demise at the end of Emil’s spirit weapon. In retrospect that event was somewhat ironic as he went from the executioner to the one who needed to be executed. There was only one aspect of the law he hadn’t broken…
“Fuck,” exclaimed the male as the water burned him for his inattentiveness.
