Her hand reached weakly for his arm as he pressed the white cloth to her bleeding nose. She couldn't even look to him, her head simply leaning into his hand which served to hold her up entirely. Carmen was exhausted. Incredibly, dangerously so. Her fingers wrapped about his forearm as she tried to support herself, a task she could not do. "I..." The images were still prominent fixtures in her mind. Good. If she passed out, they would not fade away. "I haven't slept soundly... in two weeks." She was ashamed to say it, but how could she not? This was why she was reacting this way.
Her eyes refused to open, remaining shut as the blood seeped into her captain's sleeve. How dare she? "I'll be alright." A long pause as she took in a breath. There was no way she would be leaving this chair with her strength alone. Carmen cursed at herself silently. "As... Long as you're here I will be alright." Her words carried a multitude of meanings, both literal and figurative. He would tend to her no doubt, she would be safe under his supervision.
He would certainly keep the demons away as well.
She wasn't as afraid to show her vulnerability to him either. That was what trust was about, after all. Still, she hated showing it, no matter who it was watching. Her fingers pressed weakly into his arm as she felt herself going. Her consciousness was slipping and her strength was slowly leaving her as exhaustion forced her hand. "King, I" a long bout of silence, "lo siento." The apology slipped from her lips like a fragile brush of wind, barely making a sound. She slipped into unconsciousness, then, her hand falling back into her lap as she did so. Her breath came and went slowly, and the trickle of blood from her nose ceased altogether.
She would sleep well. She would sleep for a long time. Blackness would be a welcome sight, his presence even more welcoming in this current state of mind. Carmen's form fell completely slack as she drifted further away. She would apologize extensively for this, a pale flush to her cheeks making it known that she would.
