She had been asleep for a long time.Countless dreams had come and gone through the duration of her unconsciousness, blending together in a large gray mass by the end of it all. By the time she had finally stirred, the day had turned to dusk and then back to dawn once again. Served her right, though. Her head was killing her, the pain being the main wakeup call, dragging her horribly slowly up into consciousness. A procession of images, memories that did not stem from her own experiences replayed themselves in her mind's eye. At first she didn't understand them, but as the cloud lifted from her person, she remembered what she had been doing prior to her awakening. The realization made her shoot up stiffly, her surroundings much unlike the ones she had fallen asleep looking at. She was in a bed, one she had never slept in. The woman took in a deep breath as she surveyed the alien environment. She was still badly disoriented, the drowsiness seemingly growing in her moments of rest. Carmen had not felt this tired in a long while. Her feet slid from the mattress on to the wooden floor below, supporting her weight as she rose to her height. She was still dressed in the garments she had worn during her last bout of consciousness. A loose shirt and leggings hung from her rather sadly as she tried to brush the wrinkles away. Carmen attempted to do the same with the clumps of hair the hung limply about her face. Her fingers alone could only do so much. She knew where she was. At least she assumed she knew. A grandeur view of a lake greeted her from two stories below, the large windows that were fixed to the walls revealing all that could be seen from such a height. The barracks where she herself lived were not in the image the windows provided, further cementing her theory on her current location. Why had he brought her here? After another moment of wandering and gathering her thoughts, she went to the door that connected this room to the hallway outside. It had been left ajar, so she swung it open quietly before padding out and shutting it behind her. The door made a quiet click, the only sound that came from her actions. Carmen found a staircase to the right of her, and made her way towards it. She had to get out of here if she wanted to spare herself from any further embarrassment. Hopefully her host had not seen nor heard her stir.
