Everything he had done, every move, every action, every decision, all of it was for the sake of the squads. Not a single day had ever come where Kosuke Ryuugamine made a move for the betterment of himself as opposed to the entirety of the Goteijuusentai. Training? Even this was done to create a better soldier for his division. God was it taxing.
To Kosuke, things were starting to seem as if nothing the Gotei did as a whole made any sense. Were Shinigami not sworn enemies to the Hollows for whatever reason? Did the Shinigami not attempt to completely wipe out the Quincy at some point in time? Many centuries had gone by since the Hollows invaded the Seireitei; in fact, the invasion took place long before Kosuke's own birth. During the war, Kosuke wasn't even an idea, but at that point in time Shinigami had still been fighting Hollows for many a century. Life was beginning to grow taxing.
The moss-headed lieutenant sought refuge for his thoughts beyond the squads barracks, wandering in the shadows of night in the city. Lights had long since been shut off, stores closing hours ago, all Soul Reapers retreating to their beds hours before the lone man took to the streets. His jet black shihakusho blended well with the pitch darkness of the night, tendrils of black swallowing the man whole as he navigated through a random alleyway.
What happened in New York? On Earth? Why hadn't things been done sooner? A hell butterfly had been sent by Kariya to prepare the squad for battle while he was in a meeting of captains, but from the information the lieutenant went through he'd find that the Quincy's had been wreaking havoc on the city for a decent spec of time before the captain commander even thought of dispatching a team to deal with them. So many lives lost. And what of the tons of souls that just up and vanished! Was anything being done about those? If anything was being done to deal with the strange happenings in the world, Kosuke was definitely out of the loop.
Aimlessly wandering with no direction, arms crossed as tired feet wandered through a starless night, Kosuke sluggishly came to realize he stood in front of a dead end. Touching the hilt of his top sword he stared ahead into the dark abyss for several seconds, feeling no breeze beyond him all the while seeing nothing. If he didn't notice the wind had stopped flowing in his face he'd have easily ran into the wall. Damn was it dark. He turned on his heel to head back to the barracks.
It was getting late...
