Chirp.
Eyes shut and head tilted backward, Emil listened to the world around him in silence. The bustle of vehicles and the patter of feet soothed him. A melody of chaos was being played and it seemed as if he were the only one in the audience who cared to hear it. The only one who would truly pay it any mind and give it the attention that it deserved.
Chirp Chirp. No, that sound was misplaced. There were no birds around, and along with that thought the dreams he had entered into cracked, shattered, and fell apart. There were no cars to agitate him like they would most people nor was there the patter of feet. What was worse was the life he thought to be surrounding him was merely a wish that wouldn’t be coming true. It was all his imagination. Opening his eyes, he forced down the lump in his throat and stared upon the destruction that was before him. Not too long ago someone would have been standing in the very spot that he was in and have been greeted by the comforting sight of a plethora of different people. Now, however; there was just a single man who had made his way into the lonely aftermath of needless destruction. There were reports that said a few Quincy were caught up in the act of terrorism but as far as Emil was concerned it didn’t matter. Death was death and there was an abundance of it in the air.
Inhaling deeply, Emil wondered what had caused this madness. He was ignorant to the facts of what really transpired here despite his position in the Vatican army. His Richter had decided against letting the Apostel of VII know and for good reason, Emil would have been sickened knowing Quincy were the main cause of this. How would the shinigami react to these events? It was in the mortal realm and therefore not necessarily their issue but it displayed the growing threat that was Emil’s people.
“Such needless suffering.”
