First impressions mean a lot, and it was upon seeing Anji dispatch a few thugs that drew the interest of the criminal underworld. Typically hired as an assassin or bodyguard, there have been hundreds of people he has faced over the course of his life, allowing him to develop skills used solely for the purpose of destroying his opposition.

[b]EXPERT SWORDSMAN[/b] Making up from his lack ability within the arts of Kidō, Anji has extraordinary skill with a blade. He is even noted to be a prodigy with the likes of that art, which has caused many to fear dueling with him. His combat with the sword is graceful and unique, relying on minimal, yet precise movements to rend his enemies.

[b]NOVICE KIDŌ[/b] The art of Kidō that seems to come as a second-nature to so many is completely foreign to Anji. Having killed the few Shinigami he has met over the course of his life, they had never shown the desire or were given the chance to use a spell; likely because they were dead before they knew it.
