misplaced faith

Ezel's target was replaced by the rough torrent of crimson liquid. It collapsed over the Espada, yet he showed no intention of escaping the wave. The wall continued to bleed the steaming liquid, and with a quick swipe of his sword, it was momentarily divided, as if he were Moses splitting the Red Sea.

Ezel stepped from the waterfall, Every exposed cell of skin steaming, his body being accompanied by a plume of haze snaking up ten meters. It burned, though Segunda would not notice such faint pain with the mastery over his own Hierro. His attention was much too centered on Nabill, and his presence was unmistakable behind his own men.

A quick sonida, and he appeared before the crowd swiping wide with a great swing. Most ducked, tucked, or moved out of the way, but others were unfortunate, their bodies being bisected as if a scalpel was dividing them. There was so much precision in his swings and the last half of a foot from his blade would hope to catch Nabill, it's strike under the guise of his own men.

Ezel's swipe was fruitless once again, and the superior speed of his opponent caught him slightly. His own right hand grasped the oncomming blades, gripping down to let his bastion stop the progression of the attack. The palms of his hands slip into a burst of blood, and the tips met him with enough force to propel him back several feet into the ground; Ezel's grip did not falter however, carrying Nabill with him by the blades. 

Once Segunda found his footing again, he tossed the opponent with force down a flat pathway that stood intact compared to the design around his palace. While the Primera skipped like a stone on the surface, shattered the cobblestone with each bounce, Ezel quickly channeled his cero into his blade, thrusting it into the ground while muttering an inaudible word, "affliccion...". A visible energy snaked through the surface with extreme speed and would erupt at the next point of contact the Primera was planned to meet from his ricocheting movements down the path. 

"Fast," was all the blonde would think as Nabill avoided his finisher of the short attack. Instead, he dove like a falcon on its pray, his sword a sliver of silver in the light that flowed heavy from above. It was a movement that was quick, yet it underestimated Ezel's own prowess with a blade. Swords were as second nature as sound and sight to the Espada, and his body turned the tip of such an attack grazing the very reiryoku of his bastion. 


There was no breath or time between what Nabill fell into, a flurry of precise and dangerous strikes. It force Ezel's own hand with his sword, and for once, he approached the situation with earnest and genuine attention. The slab of iron danced in the wind, meeting each strike of his opponent's with force. The blades sung in a symphony that would disturb the very air. Each clash and rippled waves of force to split up the earth around them. Each swing left its imprint on the walls beyond. Thrusts were dodges, and for the sake of delivering more powerful blows, Ezel took the strikes of the less dangerous of the attacks, relying on his bastion to deflect any brunt of force required to damage him to his hierro.

There fight spanned dozens of meters, and when permitted, he found himself backpedaling towards less steady ground. In a fight where nothing short of transcendence was expected and delivered, only outlying factors would tip the balance of these two. If it were to rely on stamina, they would fight for days, even weeks, and as they were locked in combat, none dared to let off in order to establish techniques, as any breathing room was space for the fatal strike to be delivered. Nabill possessed the precious required, and Ezel the strength.

The pawns that stray to close to their fight were sucked in by the disruption of the matter, their swings so powerful that air was subject to their strikes. Those that were that unfortunate served as warnings to other, in case the shattering landscape failed to provide that. A battle between Gods were legendary and rare due to the power they possessed, the power to change the world itself. And the battle of Gods was what was occurring.
