The wind howled longingly across the dunes of Hueco Mundo within the Segunda's land. The lady herself was in her studies where silence pervaded the the still air. Anneliese's legs was crossed as she sat in her victorian influenced chair near the window where she could see the cityscape and even further where the vast expanse lay. The book was shut closed as a bored sigh left the maidens lips. It was dull as ever here, even if she did decide to go out into the pseudo city imitation Anneliese felt it lacked the luster and appeal as the real thing. Not only that, but at moments Ann thoughts lingered on Naomi, even with the passage of time she would wonder how the girl was, what she was doing and if she was okay. It was pretty vexing being stuck in the land of white sand for so long, but her position, affiliation and duties saw to it that the Segunda Esapda was well rooted in her city often.

"I wonder if should pay her a visit?"

Talking to herself Anneliese stood up, patting the wrinkles from her uniform she walked down the corridors of her palace until she came to the main entrance where Aylona stood. "Don't let anyone visit for today. I'm stepping out for a bit so keep it a secret for me." Perplexed, Aylona was wondering why her mistress was visiting the human world so often for the past two months, but she would not vocalize her thoughts aloud. Instead she simply nodded, replying with yes madam. Ann smiled as she opened a rift that tore the fabric of time. She bid her friend farewell before stepping into the encroaching darkness.

.... moments later

Anneliese once more found her way stepping onto the boisterous streets of a small town situated in Spain. It was a clear, warm day with many people out and about. The hustle and bustle of the city made Anneliese feel livelier and more then anything gave her a sense of normalcy. The maiden strolled through the city walk unnoticed by the passerby's. She was ever vigilant, trying to find a particular girls reiatsu. Anneliese was sure her friend was in this city somewhere, perhaps slacking off as she had found her plenty of times before. She halfheartedly laughed at the thought of Naomi whining to her about how she wasn't slacking, but simply taking a break because things were so quiet.

It certainly was not the right time of day for that, but what did she care? No one saw her, after all, aside from that one fortune teller with just enough awareness to do so. She tended to greet that woman, if she noticed, but the old hag was usually way too busy ripping off some tourist. Not the American or Chinese king of tourist, though, since this town was too unimportant to be the target of many vacations. The only outsiders that really came here were either the guys inspecting the nearby solar plant, or just people from the more rural areas situated around the city, trying to get a bit of big-city air. Or well, what they considered a big city, at least. It clearly did not compare to the massive city Naomi was used to, at least.

But this was reasonably fine, too. No hollow activity over the past few days and weeks – and she kind of thought she knew who was responsible for that – and nice weather, at least today, so she grasped the moment and did some light cardio. Granted, jogging was not exactly the most rigid regiment, but she was not training here, just felt like going a little faster through town than casually strolling. So she casually jogged, occasionally hopping onto some building and jumping from roof to roof. Or well, jogging on those.

And it was during one of these activities, that she felt the rift. Maybe it was because Ann just did not care anymore, maybe because the auburn haired shinigami had spent enough time with her to be able to distinguish it, but she could notice that person for once. That was something. At least this time, she would not be the one ambushed.

She did not delude herself into thinking she could do that. That train was up and gone. But the espada had arrived near enough, so could at least take the initiative this once, quickly rushing over there and ending on a rooftop nearby. That was part of the show, after all. “So, we meet again, espada. Have you try to once more conquer this tranquil little town? But you must have forgotten about me, its staunch and stalwart defender! You better prepare yourself for my inquisition and answer truthfully, or else you will be tossed straight back to wherever you came from! So, what brings you here again today, Ann-li?” Obviously, she dropped the act for those last few words. But at least she got to deliver a large ham and enjoy herself.

A familiar voice called out, beckoning for the maiden's attention. She looked up to see Naomi who seemed to be imitating a television show perhaps. She was quite energetic Anneliese thought as she smiled, listening to her talk. As Naomi broke character for just a moment Ann was gone, nothing but hovering autumn leaves swaying about aimlessly. With almost godlike speed Anneliese would reappear directly in front of her younger friend, standing upon the air with her eyes locked upon Naomi. "Boredome, lonliness... the usual. I thought perhaps you could entertain me Nao. It has been awhile." Truth be told it hadn't been any different then before she met Naomi, but being with the shinigami made time progress by so much faster and it felt like time well spent to her. A playful smile crept onto her lips and her eyes sharpened.

"Or I could follow the script and we fight? It might be fun turning this town into a puppet city."

Of course Anneliese was kidding, unlike her counterparts she wasn't interested in conquest or subjugating others. She fought for but two reasons: to serve Luccio and to protect those she cherished. If it did not fall under those categories Anneliese was practically harmless. The two usually spent their time together chatting about the politics of their nations, their ideals and many other random things and occasionally drinking tea at the One Eyed Owl, but Anneliese felt like doing more then simply sitting and talking. It was nice, but Naomi seemed like the type of girl who enjoyed to move about and do other things. Perhaps she could let Naomi set the pace. Just for today maybe as a reward for making her smile so soon she mused.

Naomi leapt up onto a nearby chimney, balancing on it for a bit, as they continued talking. There wasn’t much more reason to strike that hero pose, after all, as she had had her fun already. She had long switched to another shtick entirely, but Ann was quite pervasive to continue on with that ploy. Obviously she was, being the more powerful evil overlady and all.

“Boredom and loneliness, those two I know quite well myself. What do you have in mind? I mean, outside of fighting, because really, I don’t think of myself as one who can deliver an entertaining one,” she continued on, gazing at her once more. This time she was wearing some kind of uniform, much more in line with what one expected of an espada. Guess she trusted Nao enough to not report her by now. But then again, unless she really tried to take over this town, no one would care about that anyway. Heck, if she had not been approached at first, she herself would have never known about this.

So that was that and this was this. What to do now. She had asked Ann, yes, but she was fairly sure that woman did not really have anything in mind. After all, she had always been the leading one until now, for her to not offer something right away could only mean she was clueless. Even the strongest Espada had downtime, now didn’t they? Putting her hand on her chin, Naomi thought about things for a few moments, running through a lot of things one could not do, while unable to interact with the physical world much. “Have you ever been outside the town? I mean, the way you come and go, I figure you had always only been inside, right?”

At first glance Naomi as well appeared to be at a loss for what to pass the time with, but as she stood atop the chimney she asked Ann if she'd ever been outside this town. Anneliese had been around the world, unlike her friend stuck in this small town she was virtually free to go and do as she pleased. So long as she took care of any work Luccio needed of her and maintained her own kingdom there wasn't any force stopping the Segunda from spending her time as she saw fit. However; wandering, to the neighboring towns never crossed the maiden's mind simply because she had no reason to. The one thing that tethered her to such a quaint place was the One Eyed Owl and outside of that she only came because it was where Naomi was.

"You mean like going to Paris or to nearby places outside the city? I can go as i please my dear caged bird."

Referencing her jurisdictional duties Ann found herself gazing back an out to the outskirts of the city, waiting for Naomi's reply.

“Pfft. I could go wherever I want too, if I wanted. I mean, no one would even notice me not being on my post, with nothing happening here at all,” Naomi pouted and crossed her arms. That was what dear Ann got for pointing out the obvious like that. Of course, she was trapped here, of course her talents were wasted, but that did not change a thing. No army could ever work if soldiers just decided their assigned duty did not fit them, that they were too good to do it. But which army could have prevailed without the noble janitors, the ammunition carriers, the vanguard making sure they had homes to return home.

Okay, that point was kind of moot in the presence of such powerful beings as the very espada she was here with, but still!

Nao harrumphed, as if shedding off that thought just now with that. “Aaanyway, there are some really pretty places out there. I’ve had a lot of time to wander around and find places to just make a break or waste some time, aside from that tea shop. But unless you got a better idea, I guess I will just show you around, before your duty just abruptly calls you away again from this place you come to in order to escape your boredom.” And yes, right back at the black haired woman.

A smile crept onto the woman's lips as she watched Naomi's expression with gleeful eyes. A laugh followed, her poor caged bird sang for her so beautifully as if she were played masterfully like a violin. Naomi responses always served to steal a smile, grin or even a smirk from the Segunda. "Maybe sometime perhaps I'll steal you away. Just for a day." Teasing, Anneliese walked towards Naomi until she was close by. "Lead the way. I'll be right behind you" Outside of that Ann didn't have much to reply with and that said a lot considering Anneliese couldn't shut up around Naomi. She often teased the girl or even rambled on about meaningless things. It was odd how she was spending her time these days, but what else was there truly for her to enjoy back in Heuco Mundo.

She had friends, status and even some adorers, but with Nabill not being available Ann felt the need to cling to something. Naomi happened to be the unlucky focal point for the maiden's attention. Though she was still unsure if she was inconveniencing her new found friend by spending so much time with her. After all Sereitei was a much more stricter place that was based off of laws. She never liked how shady their form of government was, but it wasn't her place to judge. One could see how the Hollows acted, even with instituted rules, a lot still ran a muck, doing as they so pleased. At least Ann's own kingdom was well established with civilized rulings. Well.... as civil as a society of Arrancar could be.

Steal her away? That wasn’t a good idea, at least not if she meant bringing her to Ann’s place. Knowing next to nothing about Hueco Mundo, aside from it being a kind of desert, Nao always assumed it to be some kind of stony, barren place, absolutely crawling with constantly fighting hollows or something. With the Espada being some kind of shepherds, able to form this mass into an army every now and then, although it kept breaking down again. But being stolen away to a vocational place in the human world, that didn’t seem too bad, even though her current job was really lightweight.

“Pfft, who says I would let you? But if you try, you better do it after my shift ends, can’t have my record tarnished by ‘being abducted by supposed mortal enemy, then returned’. That sounds kind of lame, to be honest.”

Saying that, she finally took off, running and jumping at first, until she was sure Ann was not some kind of slowpoke, then weaving a few shunpo in here and there, although she was still not too fast. In either event, they would eventually end up in the forest, one of her special spots. There, a small river met a slightly steep cliff, creating a modest waterfall with a small lake on the bottom. There were wet stones inside the lake that she often used for balancing, like in some clichéd movie. “That’s one of the nicer places around here. I find the water’s sounds kind of soothing. And yes, you may laugh at that.”

The look upon Naomi's face gave away her thoughts way too easily. She needed a much better poker face, but then again Ann preferred it the way it was. "You wound me. I can see from the expression on your face you think I live in a giant sandbox with monkeys?" She was sure Naomi's thoughts were something akin to what she said, though honestly its to be expected with how simple hollows can be. "I assure you its quite nice. Should I not return you?" Speaking while she Took off after Naomi, quick lithe strides propelled her forward and she bound effortlessly until they were at a forest. They came to a clearing where a small brook that lead to a waterfall. It was quite the peaceful looking place, perfect for her to sit beneath the shade of a giant tree and read to the soft humming of the water falling.

"These kinds of spots suit me. I may not look it but I enjoy reading human novels. I've collected quite a few over the years."

Naomi may think her to be weird to be interested in such trivial things, but living for such a long time, one needed a better way to spend their time then feverishly hungering for souls. Anneliese had grown to have many small hobbies the others berated her for, but she would pay them no mind. "So... What else do you do here besides act out your child like habits?" Joking, she spun around taking in more of the tranquil environment, before standing at the edge of the fall where the water dropped and collected before flowing off. It probably would meet up with another body of water somewhere further down the line. Such was life she mused. From location to location.

"Well my dear, are you gonna balance for me or not?"

“Well, I wouldn’t really say monkeys, but yeah, pretty much. I mean, that’s what the intelligence says about your place, after all. Not exactly a popular place for vacations, if you ask me,” Naomi replied, kind of deadpan. She did not mean it as some kind of insult or anything, she was simply illustrating her thought process. It was only natural to think this way, but then again, doing this with an Espada was pretty much the opposite of natural, now wasn’t it? But in either event, this place seemed to suit the other, cheering her up. Mission accomplished, for now.

Besides, she had to pout now. Again. “Those are not my ‘childish antics’ or anything. Balancing on challenging places is a kind of training. As a Shimizu, I do believe in honing my skills if I have nothing better to do, so I often come here to train a bit or something. But only when I can be sure there won’t be any hollow attacks, but I guess someone kind of made them stop completely lately. Well….aside from Espada attacks, but I looked it up, people below captain rank are not to engage Espada, if no danger is imminent. I did make my homework, dear Ann-Li.”

Saying that, she kind of did as told, though. That was another thing Nao could often be found doing, random favors. Especially if it was like it was right then, with no cost at all associated to this. Heck, she would have jumped down and landed on one of those stones on her own, if it had not been mentioned. Having had practice with this, she could easily balance on it, even with her hands locked behind her back.

A laugh echoed out from her parted lips whilst she watched her lithe friend bounce down atop the stones below. Anneliese never figured she'd be spending her time doing something so trivial as watching as Shinigami skipping on rocks. It was unusual, but it made her feel like she was living a tad more then before. Following Naomi, Anneliese mimicked her movements with false insecurity as she played out fake gestures of almost falling and tripping accentuated by her crying out. However; she, would never fall, but instead soon caught up with Naomi's pace. "H-having fun?"

Stammering she wobbled back and forth with her arms held out to balance herself she tiptoed dangerously on the edge. Anneliese wondered if she was tricking Naomi with her horrible performance? Probably not she thought to herself as she got to the end of the outstretching rocks that sat upon the waterbed like a path made just for her and Naomi. "Should we make this more fun hmm?" Asking her friend a thing smile curled the tips of her lips mischievously.

Nao pouted. “I know it is not exactly the most sophisticated exercise, but you don’t exactly need to make fun of it,” she complained, but there was a playful vibe to it. She even gave a grin on top of everything; just make sure she wasn’t misunderstood there. The auburn haired shinigami was simply chiding in was all, so no one had actual reason to feel irked by that. And besides, seeing that haughty espada almost tripping like this, it was something to behold, act or not.

It actually kind of prompted Naomi to just casually stay on one of the stones, on her toes without much movement at all. Just because. “More fun, eh? What do you have in mind, Ann-li-chi? I hope it conforms to all norms and safety regulations, of course,” she finally replied, being quite a bit intrigued as to what this woman considered to be more fun. They were already having quite the blast already, after all.

Anneliese stopped. She gave no mind to the fact her nickname had appeared to grow, but still she did like it. Back home names like that weren't needed or perhaps ever thought of to be used because of the estranged relations most espada and hollow shared. Kicking away her thoughts she spoke up in her usual demure voice that could melt a snowman in the antarctic."Try skipping these stones while on your hands." Her golden hues fixed themselves on Nao's figure attempting to gauge her response. This wasn't all to her little idea either. She stepped closer to her whimsical female counterpart, talking once more.

"If you can I'll follow any command you give me; however, if you can't you'll follow mine~"

The way "mine" rolled from her venomous lips could give chills to a ghost. "Your'e only allowed to use one hand too!" Winking, Ann flashed Naomi a smile. From her challenging personality and apparent want to debate she was sure Naomi wouldn't disappoint her and not accept. Simply because she was a headstrong girl. "Well... are you game my dear?" Giving her the final push Anneliese meekly looked at Naomi with a taunting, smug face. It was the kind of look that would frustrate someone to no end. She mentally laughed for a moment, thinking her face must looked like Vaaen's. He just had this look that seemed to always mock her, but what was more strange was just how carefree she'd been since meeting this girl. If anything it was a testament to how people change one another.

Uh…hu? Walking on the hands, yeah, that was totally stepping up the game. Okay, granted, it was quite annoying to do it that way, and she hardly ever practiced such things, outside from some fun exercises. But even so, someone as versed in hakuda as herself should be able to get this done with remote ease. Thus, she just arched a brow at this, until the addendum came along. So that was the real game, wasn’t it? Pretty much a game of ‘I dare you to do xy’, but still, better than nothing.

It was interesting, but more as a topic than an actual suggestion. Then again, with this woman, she never knew.

“Well, I obviously can’t in good consciousness accept terms like these. Not that I do not think I could do that, but given that you could just knock me down by ‘accidentally’ flaring up your power, I’d say I’d never be able to actually win this without your consent in the first place,” she explained, throwing her hands up in apparent exasperation. Then she suddenly skipped a few stones using but a hand just because, as long as she was not interrupted.

That was how she played games like these. She never explicitly accepted the terms, and Ann couldn’t just cheat here without losing quite a bit of face. Win-win for the smart girl, even if she most likely made a fool of herself there.

The gleam in Anneliese's eye faded. She'd be found out, of course she had planned from the very start to interrupt Naomi and win the bet that way. It seemed she wised up to Ann's distasteful tactics. It appeared Naomi would simply act out the bet, but never would explicitly say she accepted the terms. It made the Segunda frown for but a moment as she slowly followed pace with her Shinigami counterpart, watching closely as she made her way across the rocks with a single hand. "You escaped a fate probably far worse then death." Teasing she made her way onto the bank, looking at Naomi as she finished.
