“Oh, hello there,” Tachibana noted, when a veritable train of chitin tried to steamroll her. Once more, Miss Espada revealed her abilities, or rather, lack thereof. Unlike most arrancar, she really had no use for deception or flashy move, instead doing the same thing over and over again; full frontal assault. That was refreshing, in a way, and likely capable of beating most people who were inbetween, who needed to get some hits of their own in without being true offensive powerhouses. Heck, the same likely went for Aki, who lacked massive cutting power. She knew full well that hierro specialists were a really tough nut to crack, unless she went forward.

Yeah, that was the best way to deal with them, put additional strain on them until they collapsed under their own weight. And yet, Aki remained in full reverse mode, did not even try to hit when she dodged that attack. Instead, she created even more distance between them, especially when she realized the details of her vision became truer by the second. It was an uncanny feeling, but yes, a dejavu was creeping up on her. Looking around to reorient herself, the taicho quickly found the place she’d seen, a barren, useless patch of land. Then, despite the battle still occurring, she shortly focused on her sense of smell, until she was able to smell what she had smelled. Sure, could not remember having seen an Espada, but in her vision she had not cared either.

Yet, right then she was around, so she might as well tell her. Not because it was of use to anyone, she just wanted to comment on this peculiar thing. There was nothing yet in sight, but the fissure was truly opening. “Hey, beetlejuice. You smell that? Isn’t it nice to have a bit of ocean in your desert? I sure hope you brought your swim tube, you’re gonna get wet at this rate,” she called out to the other, bouncing around in light-step shunpo happily. It truly was coming, it was coming.

Contrary to popular belief, heavier armor would not make her vulnerable to quicker exertion in this case. Her build was designed to sustain and quickly recuperate from damage, and expend very little in terms of energy so the opponent would eventually wear out to the point where it would be physically impossible for them to elude a hit in time. Then in that moment she would strike and with her massive strength it would be a conclusive hit that would bring the fight to a sudden end. She possessed a newfound strength in this release that made the armor she was wearing light enough to merely resemble skin. Seeing as she wasn’t firing any attacks of a high concentration of energy, the opponent would always wear out first, and her opponent in time would get tired from those consistent shunpos. The lone concept of hitting her with the bankai was a bad one, because this time if she grabbed the blade with her newfound strength, well, she would simply break her bankai.

So would the fight just amount to one or the other eventually getting exhausted from constant sonido or shunpo? Happily bouncing around like some kind of overjoyed schoolgirl, she could at least appreciate her from the perspective that clearly she herself wasn’t the only one with a myriad of mental defects and a blatant loss of good wit. Then again, implications of the brunette’s insanity were heavily implied through her presence here on no advanced notice or with anybody else from her faction. Amongst the shinigami she could tell she seemed to be a black sheep, but as they were at war, this was the predicament they were destined for anyway. Little point of thinking about anything else.

With this strange oddity intruding in on her kingdom, a petrichor-like smell seizing the atmosphere, something was indeed coming, but it may just be far more than what the brunette bargained for, or could handle.

Ah, a soft ocean breeze was coming in. Aki could appreciate such a thing, especially after spending so much time in that sandy, dark desert. There wasn’t any light coming through, though, so even though this place had been or would be a maritime one at some point in time, it would still lack a sun. Go figure. Since the Espada had stopped with the assaulting business, Tachibana eventually came to a hold, still a good distance away, and started to play tourguide for a little.

“As you can smell and soon see, this anomaly is connected to a different point in time. Just time, not space. So maybe this place was an oceanic site once before, although with your kind of weather, I sure would not go shopping for any kind of sunscreen,” she jested a little, yes, but she was kind of serious at the same time. That was because the sand near the anomaly was slowly becoming drenched in water, while it increased in size. From what she could tell, this thing wouldn’t be too big. Bigger than the one she’d seen in the human world, yes, but still only the size of a car. But still, one could already see through the cylindrical rift in time, see the dark waters and foggy landscape. The fog did not bide well with the warmer weather in their time, though, so it evaporated somewhat quickly.

Fortunately though, she was quite a bit away from it, too, because suddenly, something reached through the anomaly. Quite literally too, since it was a giant hand, just reaching through from above, although it was certainly not a humanoid one. Pale green scales covered what looked like some kind of bear paw, only with fins between nailed fingers, and weird appendages all around. There were mouths filled with sharp teeth embedded into the skin, along with big, frantic eyes. There was a lot of movement in general, even though the main body of the hand just lingered a few feet in the air, observing. Yet, beneath the scales there were movements; Aki could not tell if those were muscles or smaller beings. Whatever it was, this was most definitely alive. And she could feel some of the eyes fixating on her, while others sought different targets.

She was ready, though, if something happened, even as she stood there in awe, likely one of the first people to see such a thing. “So that’s what created it?”

The sound the Espada produced in response to the mild jest was something like a compressed laugh and a snort. It seemed that there really was something coming into her kingdom other than this shinigami and she should be moderately alarmed about its presence. Well, given the power it was currently exerting, maybe that was a very huge understatement. Either way it seemed that perhaps it would be a good idea to collaborate temporarily with the opponent in order to tackle this very objectionable presence she found invading her kingdom...

She used Sonido once again, but Aki would have been able to see far enough into the future to tell that it wasn't to use an attack on her. Instead, she simply appeared to her side and focused her attention on the colossal scaled appendage before them. It seemed that this sort of rift in space and time wasn't yet big enough to fit the entire creature? It was merely an arm – she couldn't discern where the rest of the creature was; had the rest of its body been in another dimension entirely? She bit her lip. What the fuck was this?

A giant scaled arm bearing hundreds of eyes, tentacles, and maws? A sickly creature to say the least, but that wasn't what was disturbing. No. This shinigami was delighted by its presence; had she lost wit?, The creature exerted a pressure from its arm alone that scaled above the two of them. It pressed upon them a massive weight comparable to the ocean itself; she couldn't move an inch, not even with her increased strength, which assuredly meant the brunette next to her wouldn't be moving either. And it manifested enough to become palpable, tendrils lashing out towards them at breakneck velocities.

The organic whips would smash into them with sickening force and seize them within its grip, applying severe amounts of pressure. Letting out a cry of pain, she felt her armor start to split, and tasted blood in her mouth from the constriction. Her enhanced strength sufficed to start allowing her to slowly part the binds, but it was a struggle, and the fucker had so many more things it could use to mortally wound them, so what the hell could she do? It'd caught her unprepared.

Ten red lines connected the sky and the oceanic monstrosity, and any lingered remnant of serenity ceased to exist. Each beam pierced through the creature with mocking ease, and all detonated with the unmistakable incinerating force of an Espada. There wasn’t a scream or even realization; there was only the irrefutable grasp of charred and ashed death with a massive crater to bed it. Vision was blinded in a mass hue of white and red, and every molecule of invading ocean was utterly evaporated, and the only organs of the monstrosity lucky to endure ended up as nothing more as raining gore to furnish failure.

The Sexta Espada and the Jūbantai Taichō would have been lucky enough to only incur severe burns as they were knocked off into the distance to make their own craters.

A maelstrom of debris consumed the atmosphere, and the immensely powerful spiritual scent of Wrath descended towards the ground. His dark, prolonged cackle scarred the eardrums of any sapient being unfortunate enough to possess hearing. Consistent streams of wind slapped away at the debris and dancing sand, and gradually revealed the inhumane light-blue orbs of a towering blonde, with gray furs whisking in the wind, and a ruthlessly grinning visage to match. His hands were situated in his pockets, and his shoulders were broad enough to carry the weight a world.

He shook his head disapprovingly.

A booming static carried his bulking body towards the landing of the Mayhem, with the sheer intensity of his unwavering gaze to rend her ego. “Does it anger you, Carrla?” He asked. “Being an overgrown Pokémon powerless to spread mayhem, that is.”

This thing was unexpectedly fast. Outlandishly fast, even, but that didn’t really come as a surprise. This being was neither from this world, nor time, if her theory was correct at the very least. It was so incredibly fast even she could not keep up with it, despite seeing it coming. But that was okay. Before it even hit her, she could already see that it would not truly try to squish her or slap her away. Sure, it grabbed her, and that hurt, but at least there was no killing intent. No, this thing was likely just the same she was, one who came to observe and learn. And if it was not so much bigger, so much more alien, they might have went for other means of communication first. Though, that did not mean she was not trying. Maybe it was just getting them closer towards those eyes to actually see them, analyse them, recognize them as something other than vermin.

Or it wanted to get them towards those mouths, to sample their taste. She couldn’t rule that out, but she prepared herself to deal with that, once the need to do so arrived, in order to not start a pre-emptive war or anything. It was a risk, but she had a few seconds advantage, she could take it. Sadly though, she needed all that already when suddenly, the sky was filled with lightning, red and massive, all coming down on the creature. She’d have given a snarky comment about how that destroyed any hope of peaceful negotiations, but she was way too busy giving a quick slash in front of her, one that slowed down anything coming flying at her from that direction. And even though she did that, the part of the explosion that hit her was still enough to send her involuntarily flying, far far away, until sandy dunes stopped her fall.

It still hurt like hell, obviously. Every bone in her body did, actually, especially thanks to the pieces of tentacle that were still clinging onto her, as if their severed life depended on them. Some of her insides were likely squished, ribs broken, although she felt that less than the parts where burnt flesh hit the sandy ground below her. Fortunately, though, she still had enough strength and working parts in her body to shake it off and roll down the dune a little, before raising the zanpakuto she had held onto for dear life.

There was no mistaking the unknown assailant was an even higher ranking espada, who else could have come? Not that it mattered; she had literally no time to waste. If she’d blacked out by this, she’d been pretty much done for. But like this, there was still a chance to salvage something. A quick glance around allowed her to see no one following, so she quickly used her bankai, restoring part of the cratered dune, her own injuries mostly, and, interestingly, even the thing that had attacked her. At least the part that had flown with her. It trashed around for a few seconds, but only as a reflex of nerves not receiving the signals it should, before too long it simply stopped doing anything again. It was dead, although the being behind it likely was not. However, with someone that powerful arriving and the fissure closing, she had no more business being there, so she grabbed some of the creature that had flown with her, and ran like hell, back to the way she’d come here.

It all happened so fast.

In an incomprehensibly destructive assault the demonic appendage atrocity that had begun to manifest and all traces of the oceanic landscape that had been seeping into her very own kingdom simply ceased to exist. The adversity that she couldn't hope to defeat even with the aid of a similarly powered individual was entirely wiped out in a vibrant display of ash and gore. There was no room for thought in the albino's mind as she hardly got out of the attack alive. Had she been near the point of impact of the attack, she would have been completely vaporized as with everything else that previously existed at that location.

The bulky insectoid mass of armor smashed into the ground with sickening force; the bigger they are, the harder they fall. The crater was appropriate for both the severity of the assault incurred and the weight of the massive being. The majority of her originally white body was blackened and cracks dominated almost every part of her originally impregnable exoskeleton. Blood seeped out from every apparent crack and her form was essentially in shambles. Her regeneration did start to kick in but to what extent it lessened her injuries before she could no longer hold her empowered form was anyone's guess.

"Vaaen..."

Her mind was in such a state of disarray it was almost difficult to interpret his words. Her vision was blurry and for several moment she seen doubles. Her massive arms managed to muster enough strength to slowly push herself up from the ground, but as she did so she regressed to her human shape and the exoskeleton-like armor slid off of her. Her human shape was almost entirely covered in blood, burns, and lacerations. It required every ounce of her strength and power to climb to her feet and remain standing, but she managed.

"Power..."

The lone word she managed to utter in her disoriented state as she continued to stare dimly ahead of her, blood trickling down her fingertips. Power. That's what she needed. If she had power, she could have destroyed that shinigami. If she had power, she could have destroyed that atrocity. If she had power, she could have protected her kingdom without aid. If she had power, she could be a perfect utensil for spreading mayhem. She could rain death at whim, slaughter the foes of the Espada like insects underneath her boot. But she didn't have the power to do so. A titan perhaps, but she was still weak. Weak. This was embarrassing. This was humiliating. And there was nothing she could do about it. The predicament impregnated every cell of her being and every particle of her soul with a flourishing conflagration of rage, which fueled a roar that shook the foundation of the kingdom itself.

"I NEED MORE POWER!"

At long last, Carrla Vargas was seeing red.

There was the difference between Wrath and Mayhem – the disgust and rage fondling her insides and pinching his visage. The bloodied creature howling before him could have been an instrument of wrath; using her power to usurp knowledge for the greater good, but all she stood for was destruction. His cold, unwavering gaze found hints of potential in her eyes, but as it stood she was a one-dimensional bitch who was lucky to not be dead right now – and there was need there.

The blank line about the Quatra’s visage slowly broke into a grin. He took a step forward, absorbing every particle of fear, rage, and confusion from her eyes. He mockingly chuckled at her.

“Did I not tell you once that you were shackled under your precious Godking?” He jabbed, shaking his head softly. “Evidently, you did not listen, Carrla.”

He absolutely loved her zeal; her zest, but he knew he wouldn’t approve of what she would do with power. But he was cunning enough to orchestrate this situation properly; a trait unexpected of his exterior.

He took a pace forward and tenderly wrapped his large hand around her throat, twirling her chin upward, embracing the blood that slithered down his wrist. He simply stared at her, and then allowed his baritone to speak softly, but with religious passion.

“Do you deserve power?”

The flecks of confusion bloating her crimson eyes intensified. Vaaen spoke of the entity as though it were debilitating her, but wasn't Vaaen, too, standing with the Godking? Weren't they all? Had he meant that the Godking himself was the figurative shackles keeping her from truly spreading her mayhem? There was so much she didn't understand, so much happening that infuriated her, so many things that she wanted to do, but with her current stature of power and ineptitude in terms of understanding. One thing was sure. She incarnate of mayhem and chaos did not want to have herself bound by some kind of leash – what use was mayhem without the ability to administer it? Just what was Vaaen implying?

Did she deserve power...

With her throat gripped she could feel what fleeting ounces of strength she had slowly sap away, but through her mettle and seething ire and emotions she managed to keep herself upright, even if her legs plead for her to stop. Just like the Juubantai taicho, she suffered injuries such as broken ribs, burns, and ravaged insides, and it showed as blood leaked past her lips. At that moment she was a blood curdling creature of mayhem, but by no means did she have any sufficient power to truly aid in their overall campaign, or to spread mayhem to the degree she wanted if at all. But the question was, did she feel she deserved it?

"Without a doubt..."

Her pupils compressed under the weight of fury.

"I do..."

There was a moment of silence in his unblinking stare. He fed off of every molecule of the passion emanating off her form, and unconsciously channeled it into an amplified grin with a short, dark cackle raiding their eardrums. He inhaled almost sensually, licking his lips as he released the grip on her neck.

There would be no long, heart-winning speech; there was only the truth.

“Then I will give you the chance to attain it.” He said. And in that fleeting millisecond, every particle of humane emotion wiped away from his visage, his right forefinger pointed towards the ground. “Bow – pledge your undying loyalty to me; your new Godking, and accept the knowledge and strength I have to offer.”

The Quatra Espada’s spiritual pressure spiked and every weak, unfortunate creature within a kilometer of him would either pass out or die, and the Octava was receiving the brunt of it. His palpable wrath and passion flooded his essence; the intensity that would infiltrate her membrane, and give her a taste of what she could wield – what she would wield.

There was no more time for weakness. There was no more time for games or impracticality and tomfoolery. No longer was there time for her to boast her weakness like a formal badge and be naught but an ineffectual causing mild destruction like a child wading and splashing deliriously around in a puddle of mud. There would be no tolerance for mercy and there would be no more shackles binding her very soul to a lifestyle of sterile ineffectuality and a lack of what every particle of her soul strived to do. She believed that there was a power she would soon rightfully wield and she believed she had found her savior to at last liberate her of her chains.

The immensity of the power flared was outstanding enough to bring her to her knee regardless of whether or not she wished it, but the increased force when she came down into a bow easily revealed that she herself had contributed to the gesture. Every cell of her bones and flesh was wrought with a constant periodic pain hammering into her mind, the constant secretions of wrath seeping into every pore of her pale body, slick with her own blood. Mayhem. This was rebirth. This was an incarnation of death flourishing from the ashes of her former ineptitude, an aspect of death reborn and forged within the fields of corpses and death around her, forged within ire and flame and lightning under the abysmal sea of power the Quatra Espada emanated.

If Vaaen desired to be the new Godking, that meant one thing and while she knew it was daring and while she knew it could be downright suicidal, she somehow felt that it would occur. If the Godking was her – no, the Espadas' figurative chains, then he was something that needed to burn under the collaborative inferno of their rage. And to taste the saccharine flavor of mayhem and destruction, to be provided with the chance of obtaining such sweet limitless power, the woman was mesmerized by the mere notion of. Was she slowly starting to embrace her nature, or had she truly begun to lose wit? Or was this bloodthirsty insanity she was embracing salvation? That must have been it.

"That's right..."

The blood trickling from her hairline slowly masked over her eyes; her vision was clouded figuratively and literally in red. She was a beacon of rain pattered by the rain of gore from Vaaen's previous assault. She had since been on one knee.

"I'll do it ... I'm so tired of the weakness ... and the ... fucking chains to boot ... the chains need to go."

It was almost as though something snapped in her mind.

"... Yeah ... I'll do it ... I pledge my undying loyalty ... to you, the new ... rightful Godking ... and accept this knowledge and strength you have to offer..."

The zealous glint in his light-blue orbs would tell her everything that her soul sought to know; everything it yearned for. The malicious curl in his lips told her that she would no longer be a weak, withering woman. The jagged canine teeth bare from the grin told her that her path would no longer be fruitless. The scrunch of his nose told her that all of her opponents would cry before her mayhem. And the blood that streamed down her pale form told her that pure growth awaited her.

It was all up to her.

The wrathful essence weighing down the atmosphere gradually began to dissipate, but their sheer intertwined passion with scar the realm forever. He closed their remaining distance with a single step, and crouched down to pick up her kneeling form like a groom escorting his bride to power and glory. Though he only stared at her, and the abyss of his silence marred the sound waves as the scent of Italian cologne and death flooded into the fading sense of his nostrils.

“No longer will you be chained by the whims of a fool—no longer.” He said, his expression a blank, and ardent palette. “I am the conduit for your mayhem, and through me you will realize the passion and the power you need. ”

Silence...

And with a whisk of his fingers, the space in front of them danced into distortion, and unzipped into a black portal that would lead them into the depths of their redemption. As his boot took the step forward, his heart began to pulse with a sentiment unknown to his centuries of knowledge. She was the last piece of the puzzle, and little did either of them know, she was the most important piece.

The reckoning had finally commenced.
