HIGH SPIRITUAL PRESSURE | Being of a rank lower than the captains, Mei possess a pretty nice spiritual pressure. Not incredibly overwhelming, no, but when compared to lower level Shinigami it seems heavy enough. Her spiritual pressure has a greenish tint to it, and when released it creates the hissing of a snake. Anyone close enough, when she's releasing it, will have their skin feeling hot.
KIDŌ MASTER | Since joining the academy, Mei has felt a connection with Kidō. It's not so much that she favors it, though she does, it's more that she simply bonds with it better. She was the first in her class, when it came to Kidō, and it's just something that comes naturally to her. Her skills in Bakudō and defensive barrier like spells are especially strong, and are her pride. She has even mastered the arts of Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄, Incantation Abandonment) and Nijū Eishō (二重詠唱, Twofold Incantation).Bakudō #37: Tsuriboshi (吊星, Suspending Star) - this Bakudō creates a blue ball of energy that sends out six ropes of energy. The ropes attach to sturdy objects and then the center becomes a soft, elastic landing.
Bakudō #62: Hyapporankan (百歩欄干, Hundred Steps Fence) - is a Bakudō that forms purple energy in the hand of the user. The user then tosses the energy and it splits into, as the name implies, one hundred purple rods that rain down and pin the target to whatever the rods hit. Hard to avoid in small spaces, easier in larger spaces.
Bakudō #73: Tozanshō (倒山晶, Inverse Mountain Crystal) - is a Bakudō that ignites at a single point and creates a large, inverted pyramid around the caster. It can be used around other spells and also to trap someone inside.
Bakudō #77: Tenteikūra (天挺空羅, Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air) - is a Bakudō that, when the user uses blood or black powder to mark their arms, creates a rectangle of light in front of them. From there the user does a series of hand movements before the markings extend into the rectangle and then the caster can speak, mentally, to anyone and everyone they choose.
Bakudō #81: Dankū (斷空, Splitting Void) - is a rather simple and straightforward technique. The user uses the technique and a large white wall appears in front of them. It is able to block Kidō up to #89, normal cero, normal Quincy arrows, etc.
HOHŌ MASTER | The other style that Mei showed an immense aptitude for, was the art of Hohō. While there were some who were faster than her, she still left plenty of people waiting in the dust. For a while, her speed was unparalleled and the teacher used her as an example. She enjoys testing her speed with her captain, as she feels they are closely matched.Utsusemi (空蝉, Cicada) - though it can't be used in succession, it is still a very valuable skill. When she uses Utsusemi she leaves behind an afterimage that can appear to take damage, when it is really a discarded article of clothing.
EXPERT PERCEPTION | Originally something that she had a natural talent in; she still has talent in it, just not as great when compared to others. Her ability to analyze movements and techniques is certainly amazing, she just is not good enough to call herself someone who is masterful in the art. She has yet to be able to read people, but she can tell when people are lying.
ZANJUTSU EXPERT | It was only natural that she would end up being skillful in the art of the blade. Every Shinigami learned from the moment they stepped into the academy, and it was only furthered when she learned the name of her zanpakutō. Being the way it was she had to strive to become better and, though she is a far cry from the 11th Squad, she feels that her swordsmanship is nothing to laugh at.
PRACTITIONER REIATSU CONTROL | Though most of her skills are very nice and dandy, and very commendable there are some that are just completely lacking. Her reiatsu is pretty high yet, because of her inability to control it properly, it is rather unstable. When she releases her reiatsu it comes out either too strong or too weak, until she is angry and the emotion pushes more out. All in all, she practices often with this and many would laugh at her skill.
NOVICE HAKUDA | If people laugh at her control, they're simply making stand-ups about her Hakuda. Thankfully she isn't in the Nibantai, or they might've kicked her out for how pathetic her Hakuda is. She knows how to make a fist and...that's about it. If she lost her zanpakutō she would resort to Kidō, and she wouldn't switch to Hakuda even if her life depended on it. Because if she did, she might as well be forfeiting her life over to her enemy.
