Zanpakuto Form: A traditional length katana with only a few distinguishing features. Kaede’s Zanpakuto’s only distinguishing features are its tsuba, which takes a shape reminiscent of a three-leaved clover, and the mellow sea green colour of the wrappings of its hilt. There is little else of note about the blade.

LOW SPIRITUAL POWER: Kaede is neither a member of a noble house or especially prodigious in her spiritual energies. She was generally regarded as average and unexceptional in this area much like many other academy graduates. Her graduation from the academy and even her entry in to it six years before can mostly be attributed to her hard work and talent for the physical side of being a shinigami, rather than the spiritual side.
PRACTITIONER WEAPON USE: Kaede had never held any kind of weapon before the academy, let alone the likes of a Zanpakuto. Even after six years of intense training she has barely scratched the surface of what she can do with a blade. However, as someone who enjoys getting up close and personal with her enemies, she’ll likely expand on this skill with enthusiasm.
EXPERT HAND-TO-HAND: Kaede’s been throwing punches for as long as she has been walking and was a dab hand at giving people bloody noses and broken bones even before entering the academy. Her time training formally under real shinigami have only heightened and focused her abilities, making her a dangerous woman to contend with when it comes to dusting knuckles.
PRACTITIONER AGILITY: Six years of shinigami training were not wasted on Kaede and she’s as light on her feet as any other academy graduate, perhaps even more so. However, like every other shinigami fresh out of school, she still as a long way to go.
NOVICE SPIRITUAL CONTROL: Controlling her own spiritual energy was never Kaede’s strong suit and like her sword skills she had never attempted anything of the like before entering the academy. Sadly, spiritual control was not as straight-forward as learning to weild a sword and as such it became her least-developed skill.
PRACTITIONER PERCEPTION: Keeping a keen eye open in combat is something that Kaede has a natural talent for, and she’s bright enough to recognise certain patterns and tells in an opponent’s techniques. However, a lack of real combat experience or a chance to significantly improve upon these talents has left her at a fairly average level.
