When the shadow opened up and Rebecca stepped out, she’d find herself in a strange area. There was no light in the chamber she was in, save for the pool situated in the middle of it. Blue and silver lights danced across the still surface, born from the eight flames burning at each edge of the water. The mysterious man that had lead her here was nowhere to be found, and the shadow behind her slowly faded away.The water of the pool began to bubble, heralding the emergence of a small, raven-haired youth. Waves of black fell from his scalp and all around him, and though he was naked and young, there was a certain elegance about him unfound in most people. On his chest, a silver quincy symbol was tattooed, right where his solar plexus was.“Hello,” the boy said, a smile on his face. He stepped out of the pool now, and reishi began to gather around him. That was when Rebecca was like to notice it; the amount of reishi in the air was staggering. This was no place on Earth.By the time the boy took his final step onto the cold ground, he was fully dressed. A white mantle cloaked everything he wore beneath, and two large silver earrings, both in the shape of the quincy star, hung from each lobe. “I am Saigo. If you are as pure as you say you are, no doubt you’ve heard a few things about me, yes?”Every quincy, or at least the majority of them, knew of the rebellion against the pact with the shinigami. Just a week ago eight major cities around the world, even one in the states, had been wiped out. Most quincy blamed that on these traitors.Turning away from Rebecca, Saigo began to walk towards the back of the chamber. As he did the pool disintegrated, returning to its base reishi form before crafting a series of steps that he climbed. When he reached their zenith, those steps also faded away, forming a floating throne for him to sit on.
Saigo smiled. “Rebecca Quinn, original family name forgotten. Known as the Dragon Lady or Maria Sanchez, depending on who you ask. Began quincy training at age eight, earned the name ‘One-Shot’, though you hate that name, and ran away to South America at age eighteen. Killed many quincy sent after her, or left them crippled, before moving to New York City and adopting your new name while living with a rogue shinigami. If you want, I can even tell you when you met your first love, experienced your first orgasm, and what you had for breakfast for every day of the last twenty-eight years.
