ZANPAKUTOU

SANZARU (三猿 - lit. Three Wise Monkeys)

SEALED FORM: Sanzaru in its sealed form takes the shape of an incredibly slender nodachi. The blade is quite long, doubling the length of Carmen's arm, and the metal is a dark black in color. Its hilt is also quite skinny and carved rather intricately. The nodachi itself is an incredibly beautiful weapon, and is normally held in a sheath that crosses over her shoulder due to its immense length. When drawing it, she must retrieve it from just above her left shoulder, a maneuver usually done with her opposite hand.

SPIRIT FORM: As homage to its namesake, Sanzaru takes the form of three apes, each barring a certain sense from view. The monkey in the middle covers his mouth whilst the one to the right holds his eyes from view and the one to the left covers his ears. Their voice is not spoken aloud but is heard within Carmen's mind.

SHIKAI FORM: Once released from its sealed form, Sanzaru's black tint becomes incredibly reflective and the blade itself widens to resemble a mirror. The hilt remains as beautiful as it was before, carvings resembling the soul of the blade itself taking form on the wood.

見ざるMIZARU (See no Evil): If Mizaru is the chosen release, Sanzaru's mirror-like properties will take full effect. The blade will seemingly disappear from existence as the blade shifts to become a fully reflective prism. The shape holds true to its original, though this cannot be seen. The hilt is carved to reflect an ape covering his eyes.

隠されたミラーKAKUSARETA MIRAI: Due to Mizaru's tampering with vision, Kakusareta Mirai becomes available for use. This illusion reflects everything within a 500 meter radius and those trapped within it are all affected by it, even comrades and herself. All movements are inverted due to Mizaru's ability, making it extremely difficult to move correctly. Carmen has mastered using her mirrored self and can move around with ease. This illusion is used to inhibit individuals, giving her the upper hand in speed and strategy.

聞かざるKIKAZARU(Hear no Evil): If Kikazaru is the chosen release, the blade assumes an even darker color than its sealed counterpart. Just like the muting of sound, the blade mutes its appearance, becoming totally black though retaining its trademark shape in Shikai form. The hilt is carved to reflect an ape covering his ears.

音の弾幕OTO NO DANMAKU: Once Kikazaru is activated, Carmen has access to its main illusory technique. Oto no Danmaku, or Barrage of Sound, afflicts targets with an intense amount of fraudulent sounds. These sounds can confuse the afflicted into thinking they are being attacked by multiple sources where in reality the number of attackers is far lesser. This technique is used as an agitation method.

イワザルIWAZARU (Speak no Evil): If Iwazaru is the chosen release, Sanzaru's blade splits slightly down the middle. The coloration remains the same as the original Shikai form, however the shape of the blade is considerably different. The hilt is carved to reflect an ape covering his mouth.

空気ませんKOUKIMASEN: In this form, Sanzaru is able to conjure an illusion that is used solely for offensive purposes. Carmen will spin her zanpakutou in a circular motion and what commences is a technique known only as No Air. A target, if caught in the illusion, will experience an intense feeling of suffocation. This is perhaps her deadliest technique, as it can lead to fatal self-inflicted injury. In order to be caught in this technique, however, the target is required to be in the midst of speaking aloud when the circular cycle begins. Their voice is seemingly sucked from their mouths, as is the rest of their allotted breath.
