Getsumen maisō takes the form of a pure white dagger in the shape of a crescent moon in the blade. The white blade, slender and sharp, is said to be the purity of death itself. It's pure white nature shines with each stroke in brilliant light, said to be used for blinding the opponents of the assassination division and special forces captain.

Getsumen maisō's true spirit form takes the shape of white and blinding figure. In a landscape of white it comes unseen to the eye of even the blade's originator. In this form, only the sounds and most subtle of movements give form to the figure which is Gersumen maiso.

Gengetsu no ken [Blade of the Crescent Moon]
An ability surrounding the zanpaktō. A cold white flame engulfs the small curved dagger in its illuminating blaze. Despite being a fire though, the touch of each single ember of the embodied flame is cold to the touch -- ice cold. With each single contact with the blade, a cut appearing twice as deep and twice as devastating will appear where the blade made contact. The secondary effect of the flames is they do not burn the opponent in the traditional sense. The flame absorbs oxygen from the area, as it can cause suffocation and even lessens the oxygen which blood needs for nutrients to the body. Drawn from the area also includes the oxygen from within the body of that whom it cuts. With each cut, 15% of the oxygen within the blood will be drained, causing light fatigue and slight withering of the body such as aging. For each post the blade does not cut the opponent 5% of the oxygen will return. After the third hit, caused by the passive expending energy the limb that is hit will be consumed in the flames as a small burn will be imprinted in the skin -- a crescent moon. After being hit for the fifth time, the limb will wither and after a single post the body dies. The only way to cure this process is to avoid being struck that fifth time as if the body returns to below 50% stolen oxygen the flamed moon will vanish and thus require another hit (depending on the percent stolen) to redo.
