Agility Master: A master of the Shunpo technique far beyond her station and years, Miyoko is nothing if not light on her feet. While gifted enough with the technique to be considered a master of it, Miyoko's true strength comes less from her skill performing it as it does from her almost innate understanding of movement as well as a talent for making the most of any motion employed. It is this talent above all else that earned Miyoko her title - from her footwork in swordplay to the swiftness of her Shunpo techniques, and her fluid reactions to her ability to move through virtually any environment as if she were a native inhabitant, it was this that made Miyoko stand apart from the rank and file. While Miyoko may not be the most experienced fighter of the Lieutenants, attempting to catch her is one game that will prove difficult, if not downright impossible for many.
Perception Master: Going hand in hand with her exceptional speed and agility, Miyoko is able to evaluate most of the world around her at a glance - without that honed skill the woman would probably end up injured from her own speed demon antics far more often than actual combat. Able to see potential pathways and routes in nearly any environment at a moment's notice, this has also made her particularly dangerous in regards to what she notices in terms of detail - when the slightest misstep or environmental hazard could be the difference between a clear path and a broken limb at the least, people tend to pick up on the small things.
High Spiritual Power: While still relatively young by Soul Society standards, Miyoko benefited greatly from her family's legacy. Possessing reiryoku far beyond what most achieve without centuries of effort, Miyoko has only recently reached the point where she can control it, and even then it remains a difficult prospect. Unlike most of her rank, Miyoko deliberately keeps her limiting seal active even while within the Seireitei - while not a necessary restriction, the woman finds that it is far easier to control with the seal in place thanks in large part to its ability to regulate how much energy she burns with each technique. Due to her inexperience with properly harnessing this power beyond the Academy's standards concerning its suppression, Miyoko cannot yet take full advantage of her birthright beyond using it to drastically augment her stamina and physical speed, and to a lesser degree her strength.
Charged Reiatsu: While Miyoko still lacks enough control to weaponize her reiatsu as an almost physical pressure as most high ranking officers can, what reiatsu she does manage to manifest without her limiter seal active is fairly unique, and highly reflective of her Zanpakuto's ability. Where most reiatsu pressures tend to exert an almost physical force, Miyoko's instead tends to act much more subtly, imparting static to the area surrounding her - rather than feeling pressure, most will instead experience what they might when standing in the wrong place during a thunderstorm or standing next to a high voltage piece of machinery or equipment, with raised hairs and a tingling sensation. With her current level of control (Practitioner), this is the highest degree to which Miyoko can affect those around her.
Spiritual Control Practitioner: Always the one area that Miyoko struggled with the most, the woman's only mastered skill concerning this discipline was the ability to suppress her reiatsu, although even that required a certain degree of concentration - without which most of her techniques fall far short of expectations due to the difficulty involved in moderating the energy used in addition to suppressing it. As a result Miyoko tends to rely rather heavily on the limiter seal applied to all Vice Captains and stronger, even in the Soul Society where it is not required.
Zanjutsu Practitioner: While not quite as skilled as some of the higher tier officers of the Gotei 13, Miyoko has still managed to attain a relatively high level of proficiency in the use of her Zanpaktou. Quite a bit weaker than many of the other Lieutenants in terms of raw power and physical strength, Miyoko instead compensates with her footwork and technical skill, both of which are far more fluid and reactive than most fighting styles.
Expert Hakuda Combatant: A given due to her previous position, Miyoko is well versed in hand to hand combat, a mandatory requirement of any Shinigami from the Nibantai. While again not nearly as powerful as many physically speaking, Miyoko again compensates for the mismatch much as she does with her swordplay - namely by using a fast, highly reactive style, her unarmed one aimed largely at exploiting the opponent's movements rather than attempting to overpower them directly.
Techniques:
Shissou: Shissou is a technique revolving around the preservation of the momentum directed by the standard Shunpo step, as well as the amplification and redirection of the forces involved. By starting with one particularly fast step Miyoko can string together an indeterminate number of additional, smaller ones, which while not propelling her as far allows her to maintain incredibly fast movement speeds over vast distances, as well as perform otherwise impossible feats of speed and agility by redirecting or maintaining the momentum generated by the technique.
Kawasu: A further refinement of the standard Shunpo step, Kawasu does not rely on an increase in distance as much as it does control. Unlike the standard step, Kawasu does not allow the user to move more than a small handful of meters in any direction at most - what it loses in distance, however, it makes up in simplicity and elegance, allowing the user to effectively dodge attacks and environmental hazards without missing a step, losing speed or deviating far from an intended course.
Oroso: The exact opposite of Kawasu in terms of principle, Oroso magnifies the user's standard Shunpo step to allow them to physically launch themselves in a direction of their choosing. While not much faster than the user's standard step, the increase in force allows them to clear large gaps in space very quickly with single steps, either to avoid an incoming threat or to simply throw oneself several stories into the air.
Hanekaeru: A combination of the principles involving Kawasu, Shissou and Oroso as well as being the culmination of Miyoko's current level of skill with the Shunpo technique, Hanekaeru allows Miyoko to combine the best of all three into a single technique. Infusing Shissou's multiple steps, Kawasu's control and the sheer force generated by Oroso, Hanekaeru allows Miyoko to use full strength steps to literally ricochet off of any surface she comes into contact with almost the moment it happens - and in densely urbanized or forested areas providing an abundance of usable launch points this techniques makes catching the woman nearly impossible as the technique can be chained from surface to surface for blindingly fast movement.
Utsusemi: The practitioner moves at great speed to avoid an attack, leaving an afterimage which can appear to have taken damage.
Zanpakuto:
Zanpakuto Name: Idaten
Zanpakuto Spirit: Unsurprisingly, Miyoko's heritage has managed to work its way even into this aspect of her life. Idaten, despite his name being taken from a Buddhist deity known for their speed and fighting prowess, manifests quite differently - following the Seiryƫ dragon motif, Idaten's form when manifested is that of a black, oriental dragon. Personality wise, the spirit both manages to mirror and contrast his his wielder's soul. Both are heavy believers in balancing the various aspects of one's life, although unlike Miyoko Idaten tends to have a fair degree of trouble following through in that regard, often coming off as far too laid back and a heavy procrastinator whenever work tends to be involved - the only time he will not attempt to put something off is either when he finds enjoyment in what is being done, or if it is a matter of grave importance. In spite of his shortcomings, though, Idaten and Miyoko get along quite well, sharing a rather complicated bond reminiscent of both siblings as well as that of teacher and student, although the roles of the latter tend to swap depending on the situation. During the few times that Idaten has chosen to physically manifest in a form only viewable by Miyoko, the creature has been roughly two times the length of an average human - in his own realm, however, the spirit is considerably larger, many times the length of most buses.
Zanpakuto Form: That of a relatively normal katana, the blade is a dark gray color one would expect of tempered steel with a silver lining to the edge of the blade. The handle is fairly simple in design, the silk tassel wrapped around the pommel to provide Miyoko with a comfortable but sturdy grip. The guard itself is a simple rectangular shape with no design.
Shikai Form: Identical to the unreleased form, but with a small change - the inclusion of a lightning strike pattern etched into the sword's guard.
Shikai Abilities: Simply put, the ability to generate and manipulate nearby electrical charges as well as imbue them into any physical object, solid or liquid, that the sword comes into contact with. In addition to passively granting Miyoko a resistance to higher level electrical attacks/hazards and outright immunity to weaker ones while she is holding the Zanpakuto, this allows Miyoko a wide range of tactics and strategies to choose from. Finally, Miyoko's physical capabilities are brought far more in line with those of other fighters her rank through the sword's ability to manipulate and micromanage electrical charges and pulses (in effect giving her physical strength and already impressive reflexes and reaction time a subtle boost).
Purasu: Idaten imbues or amplifies a positive electrical charge within whatever the sword comes into contact with.
Mainasu: Idaten imbues or amplifies a negative electrical charge within whatever the sword comes into contact with.
Zaiko: When in contact with an object, Idaten can choose to "insulate" it, forcing it to hold whatever electrical charges the object comes into contact with, essentially turning them into a battery.
Ryuushutsu: Similar to Zaiko, but with opposite effect, forcing whatever charge the object is holding to be released. Unlike the other techniques, Idaten does not need to be in contact with an opponent to use this technique.
