The Yonbantai is known as the relief division. Specializing in a wide variety of medical knowledge and abilities, they are the heart and soul of the Goteijūsantai. While certainly not the first to be sent in the battle, they are the ones responsible in keeping all of those attired in Shinigami robes at their physical and spiritual best, providing medical support when needed, as well as taking care of a variety of manual labor throughout the Seireitei. The Yonbantai is split into several categories, though most known would be the relief teams. These teams are made up of the most medically knowledged and skilled within the division, responsible for most emergency aid and providing military support wherever and whenever needed.

As a division centered around healing, the Art of Turnway, or Kaidō, is the main focus behind all healing forms of Kidō. The art of Kaidō can vary, but the basics are relatively the same. Kaidō focuses on first restoring the spiritual energy of the patient, as most souls have their own restoration process, and as such, restoring their spiritual energy will increase the speed of the overall healing process. By restoring the patient's reiatsu, the healer can attempt to heal the physical body by using the patient's restored reiatsu as well as the healer's own spiritual energy. With extensive practice, those who have mastered this ability can hastily restore the reiatsu of those whose physical body is already in a fully healed state.

Soul Reconstruction, or Tamashī Saiken, is a highly advanced form of Kaidō. In cases where spiritual restoration cannot be performed, reconstruction of the soul can be attempted. Such cases are normally rare, and are usually only attempted when a soul is near death or infected by a Hollow. In such cases, simply pouring one's spiritual energy into the patient will not be enough. A complete reconstruction of the soul can be performed in order to bring the patient to a more stable condition, and in the cases of infection, this art can be used to not only reconstruct the soul, but purify any forms of Hollow reiatsu. This type of healing is highly restricted, as any healing art under this category puts the healer's own life at risk. Reconstruction of a soul requires a great deal of energy, and in most circumstances, will require a team of highly skilled healers to perform. Purification runs the risk of spreading the infection to those attempting to heal, and as such, is highly regulated.
