Things always go south. Or north [aer]

"Good." That was the only response Kenpachi would give her subordinate. The resolve the girl displayed was enough to win Kenpachi over. Shizuka was weak-minded now, but she was loyal and dedicated to her newer family. And that was the first step before honing ones skills and mind. Even if the girl had some whack zanpakuto that wouldn't aid her in battle, she could work around it. Hell, Shizuka could possibly be come to be renowned for being the most badass hand-to-hand combatant of their time.

"So stand up. Since your defense is what is truly lackin', we'll work on that real quick." The sanseki had a means of attacking. She didn't deliver physical pain, but she could still attack the mind and sense of feeling, remotely or not. But she was left utterly defenseless. "You know how to deal with oncoming punches?" Kenpachi would throw her fist at the girl's chest, but she was too far to actually strike her. Her knuckles would stop a centimeter away from hitting the white-haired Shinigami. She waited to see if Shizuka knew the proper maneuver for this simplistic attack.

Shizuka came to block Kenpachi's fist with her own wrist. It was a novice move, one that was correct by textbook standards but not applicable to real life. Sure, in training it would do well. But against someone who could shatter that very wrist with a punch alone? It would leave her crippled. "Forget everything you've learned. When I throw a punch, you deflect instead of block. Until you're confident enough that your opponent's strength can't hurt you. Me? I can hurt you. So what you're going to do is swing your wrist around in a circle motion to hit my wrist and knock my punch to the side. If done quick enough, my hit will never land and it'll leave your opponent open for a short second."

Kenpachi left her arms at her side now. "Now throw a punch at me." Assuming the girl would do so, Kenpachi would bring her arm up and hit into the inside of the white-haired girl's offending arm, which would successfully knock the punch off course. Kenpachi didn't stop there, however, and wrapped her same hand around Shizuka's punching arm. With the circular motion, it seemed natural and fluid. She jerked Shizuka forward toward her and jerked her knee up and into the girl's stomach -- though, not really. She stopped shot so as to barely touch her. "You can do things like that." Kenpachi smirked slightly. "But on the adverse side, how would you deflect a knee to the stomach? A little harder, eh?"
