The trait that kept coming up more than any other was 'sneaky'. It made for a good kid! user, not as much for a good evaluation. Maybe Shi'Kuyo was just perturbed he'd been cut and then said cutter had evaded his counter attack. Maybe it was his own fault for pandering and toying with Itagaki. A man who was in all likely hood, was his equal in skill alone. The texture of his reiryoku at this proximity proved that much.
However, there were still other aspects of the demon arts where Seishiro surely fell short. Like overall knowledge of the arts for example. One hundred years was a long time to go while out of the loop on the newest kidō developments. His own black coffin closed him in and though he could stand up to the damage it would surely do... "I guess I deserve this for being so transparent and thinking he wouldn't be able to see through me." He was seriously opposed to taking such licks while his opposition waited for him on the outside.
His perfect understanding of the arts granted him knowledge of the spells beyond their normal parameters and in application of that knowledge he could do incredible things. For example, using eishohaki on two low to average leveled kidō in the couple of seconds he had between the black coffin closing in on him and said coffin blooming in on him. He made those seconds count.
It was no small task to exploit the energies of an already formed spell to implosion but it was possible and it was easier done on one's own spells. The input of surplus yet unstable energies caused the whole of the thing to become unstable, on the inside lances cut at him tearing apart the six rods Seishiro stuck to him. Before they could penetrate any deep however, a motion from his now-free hand and an application of his reiryoku busted the kurohitsugi to pieces. Soon after, the black coffin collapsed as if it had actually ran its course, red smoke2 spewing and billowing from where the kurohitsugi had just stood. Shi'Kuyo, no where to be seen3.
Itagaki said something or other about his gills but Shi' was locked in now. They had exchanged a few blows but he was the only one to have any taken any damage. He would rectify that, lest his father's protege think him unfitting to lead the corps. Shunpō in the air allowed him to clear the distance between them, his own undeniable reiatsu tracking skills meant he could find the former kidōū member anywhere while they were both here in the same realm. Firing another binding spell this one actually intended for Itagaki. "Dodge this." He thought silently to himself, increasing the difficulty of the fight by not giving away his tactics and location.
A trio of rope based binding spells lashed out at seishiro, each one stronger than the last. Given the incredible speed of all binding spells coupled with proximity it was next to impossible for dodge after all, Kuyo had been unable to dodge Itagaki's binding while this close together. a thin yellow rope of glowing light4 sought to wrap around his legs while another rope, organic in form and amber in color5 did the same to his torso. Once bound by the former two spells a final rope of large and think golden chains would snake over Seishiro's entire body, the lengths of the chains made as long as he needed them to be, yet another mark of his skill. Combining 'syabollic conversion' with Kōjutsu Eishō allowed him to strengthen his bindings while pandering in conversation with his long lost comrade.
"I forget Seishiro... how many of the supposed forbidden arts did you acquire before getting stuck in the sands?" It wasn't like Sei could do much aside from talk in this state anyway and he had been fond of reminiscing so far.
