NAME:Kamikage ToranosukeALIAS: Other than the obvious Tora he is known as Garandou Mumei (Nameless Void.)
AGE: Time came and went as it saw fit while Tora spent his days in solitude, deep meditation, and harsh training environments. So much time he no longer remembers his real age, he only started counting a hundred an twenty five years ago.APPEARANCE: Tora is Five feet and Nine Inches tall. He weighs between one hundred fifty five and one hundred seventy pounds. He has long orange almost red [like vermillion] hair, and blue eyes. His clothes are often black and white and appear to be of chinese design when off duty otherwise he wears a fitted hakama and sometimes relies on just a simple tank or bandages to cover his chest. Tora is known for wearing mask and covering himself in bandages when he's feeling excited or is in a bad mood, its always a surprise.
Tora spent time in the Animal Realm of hell and because of that his black hair naturally turned its color, and his body became more stern, fitted muscles, rather than bulky he is very compact. He unfortunately does still have two of his tails that he gained from the animal realm along with some other tiger-like features, but because of these his balance and reflexes seem to of improved drastically, if not for his prolonged time in the realm he did not belong in and massive amounts of concentration he may of lost himself completely to were-tiger state. Tora's nails and canines seem normal but in reality are usually sharpened, he always dodges the question of if he does it himself or if its natural to keep the mystery. Tora actually likes the rumors that are spread about him, like one that states he always carries a hundred weapons on him at all times. Tora only carries twenty kunai; a umbrella that actually uses locks to extend into a decent sized metal bo with a point to make it a spear, and his zanpakuto at all times.
The final piece of clothing that he holds in a augmented mask, that once served as his Hollow mask, but after following him into the realm of animals as his actual face when he was reconstructed in Soul Society it followed along, though it holds no actual power.
PERSONALITY: Tora spent most of his life learning how to lie. An assassin since birth and one of the best, but this does not come without its downsides. Tora's outlook on the world in general is quite disturbing. One might say his actions are guided by a twisted gentleman's code and the musings of a villain. His line of work has left him with the responsibility of thinking like those whom may wish to try and flex their hand against Soul Society.
Tora can rarely be seen not smiling, again because of his position he is unaware of when he may enter confrontation and believes that everyone deserves a happy ending. The only true way one can grasp the personality of Toranosuke is to actually seek him out.ALLIANCE:Tora is loyal to the current Soutaicho.HISTORY: The Kazunori family loyal to the Matsudaira clan and merchants to several villages alike (especially the Iga and Koga) were known for their large fields and excellent livestock. Kazunori Tadahide was born to be the twentieth head of the family after his father Hide, a man who was proud of the family lineage as it was under his fathers’ rule that the family became so prosperous and popular, but Tadahide was different. He knew that even in the eyes of the daimyo they, his family the Kazunori’s were nothing but lowly merchant and peasants, peasants that wore fake gold and had fake honor. He swore that with his children the tradition of raising farmers and businessmen would change!
At sixteen years old Kazunori went off to fight for the young but impressionable Matsudaira Ieyasu. He remained in Ieyasu’s service until thirty five when he’d be stricken with illness and forced to return to the Kazunori mansion where he remained – far from the battlefield and forced to take the reigns of the family, and steer them once again into the fields. Tadahide at this time had several children, all girls. Ashamed he often thought of taking his life if all he could leave behind were those whom could not become his heir. On Tadahide’s wife Sui’s thirty third birthday she gave birth to twins, Kazunori Shiichiro and Kazunori Kenjirou, both boys were identical in every way!
In this eastern land war was nothing to be surprised about, but it was the perfect time for one to bring honor to their family, so immediately Tadahide offered his children (2 year old) to two different villages to learn, study and ultimately bring honor to the Kazunori family. Shiichiro was given to the leader of the Koga-shinobi. Kenjirou was taken in by Iga-shinobi. The shinobi were not as gentle and surely there was no bosom for the boys to cry against, training was intense and to keep their small minds from breaking they were given pilgrimage every year, in this time they were allowed to travel home to the Kazunori and work the fields, but up to his twelfth birthday Kenjirou only sent letters, during his time of pilgrimage he’d travel to Koga and assumed the identity of his brother who was known to need more breaks than any other shinobi in the village. Only for a few months in a year was he known to be incredibly skilled. At thirteen he was caught by Iga shinobi and punished (though the shinobi that gave the punishing went back with their own wounds.) He returned home in the spring on pilgrimage for the first time in all his life, and immediately he realized how much of a outcast he was. The Kazunori were cheerful and rather weak (in a fighting sense) even his father whom he thought was a warrior (due to his war stories he told in the letters) was undoubtedly weak in his older age. Kenjirou wasn’t foolish enough to show his discomfort though, he was trained to fool the simple minded and did so with every drop of knowledge (admittedly he was so good at hiding his presence he often scared people.) Shiichiro however got along with the family and seemed to be one of them without even trying… or was it that he never was shinobi quality? After that three-month stay Kenji learned that Shiichiro had taken his leave from Koga, and would remain at home and work the fields, ‘clearly he lost his wit’ Kenji thought. Koga and Iga were at a standstill and for the next three years he spent his time training, infiltrating, and taking every single mission he possibly could until he shined like a diamond in the eyes of a great Iga ninja. Hattori Hanzo, the Oni of Iga.
Hanzo was famous throughout the land and there was no warrior that didn’t hear of his legendary exploits, he took to Kenjirou now going full time by his shinobi name Ichiyama Genbu, and in return Genbu took to him. Hanzo helped Genbu reach out higher and even more-so after the fall of Iga, with tim his personality on the battlefield became even more wild, he begun to soak in not only Hanzo’s but other styles that came within range… it was Hanzo that commented he should change his name from Genbu to Torahide to show his father honor and to represent his ferocious combat style.
Years went by, Ieyasu was well seated as the Shogunate and Hanzo was reaching out in his elder years. With the approval of the Shogun Tora along with his master returned to the Kazunori house where to his surprise his father had named Shiichiro the heir to the family, and already married him off. Kenjirou’s efforts as a shinobi, samurai a man of the warrior class hadn’t mattered much to Tadahide… this brought out his wild side and in a fury he showed his might only to be stopped by Hanzo and a few other shinobi that travelled along side them. By time he realized the wild tiger that circled his heart Tora was already dragged on to Saienji temple where he’d join his master as a Warrior Monk, still doing jobs and being of service to local and far off daimyo when needed.
Kenjirou left the temple on pilgrimage and at that time he took a woman and was birthed a child, but being a husband and father over being a warrior and eternal student searching for his path proved far greater. The child and wife were sent to the Kazunori household and he returned to the temple three years later, covered in wounds and a smile upon his face. Wasn’t long after that that Toranouske gave into his wounds, though a legend remains of a daimyo known for taking triple the taxes to pay the shogun and keep himself wealthy with the left overs… he and every guard within his castle were laid to waste on the same night Tora returned.
Tora was a man that dedicated himself during his service at the temple, he wasn’t just a shinobi he wanted to attain balance, and a great deal of time was spent meditating and understanding, but to really find peace what he needed was not to just meditate and understand his calm side. He needed to understand the tiger on the inside and realize that its fangs were his own. In his dying he did so.
The third night after his funeral the elder monks of the temple were startled by the appearance of Tora. Blue in color, his face that either harbored a smile or some mysterious gaze was down-shifted to a frown. The monks were unable to tell if he had returned for their lives or if he had reached an enlightened path through his death, Hanzo surely found it disturbing.
A week past and the metallic chain that was imbedded in the shinobi’s chest was all but gone, without much notice Tora spent that week meditating, and going through the normal routine of monk-life. This was an unwise decision because the very chain eventually disappeared and a hole was left in the chest of the tiger-haired warrior to the point where he fell so low he actually became the very tiger that his name represented, proud, bold and very frightening. His stripes were a fire orange with fur as black as a blackhole. Tora’s body was transformed Into a ten foot tiger with ten tails.
The elder monks were quick to react and attempted above all else to stop Tora without exercising his soul. The efforts of the monks would be pushed to the limit as Tora, now turned Hollow would ravage the lands for two weeks, four nights and five days. The fifth day his rampage would come to an end with the arrival of the Kazunori led by none other than their patriarch; Shiichiro. Shiichiro now acting as a priest under the gaze of the Shogunate approached the temple offering services to remove the Hollow that had become rumored to be causing hellish amounts of damage to the prefecture, Hanzo whom was reaching the end of his life cycle spoke out for the monks and denied the Christians.
”This is no longer one of yours, he is ours and we will protect him.”
The secret Christians though disrespected did not dare lift a finger against those staying at Saienji temple, and instead they paid their respects and left; however it was the very scent of the Kazunori that would bring about the downfall of the monks and Tora’s very life. He sprung from the cage that had captured him on that fifth morning, though weak it did make him contemplate escaping. In the time of two weeks he’d destroyed many homes and just as he was to do damage upon the Kazunori heir’s head a girl dressed in black wielding a magic sword dared to oppose him. Unlike the monks and the Kazunori she knew of his true design and rather than keep him in such a compromising position she fought the Hollow Tiger.
Their battle lasted more than a year between each needing to retreat an return again, he even dared to attack Soul Society when she was all but defeated. Tora slowly begun to win back his humanity with each battle and earning the respects of lower Hollows all sharing feline traits. They followed Tora into battle though he never once cared about them like Tokugawa Ieyasu whom betrayed many of his personal allies, he was able to use them as his shadow and like the vassals of the Shogun they never doubted him. Sadly after that year and a half the Shinigami he personally wanted to fight: Risu had vanished.
Tora searched many battlefields, villages, even districts of rukongai but she was nowhere to be found. After a grueling year and six months he was unable to locate his foe and rage begun to overcome him, so much that he threw himself at the hollows that once followed him. He destroyed the whole lot, Tora even went as far as to chase the smallest of the group to earth where he’d meet his end. Without hesitation she appeared like a butterfly- no a lioness. Taking the mask clean from his face like a master chef, she then turned and cast a odd spell before landing a vicious attack upon his head.
“Great Tiger of the East, I fear what will happen if you grow up so I am sending you to a hell that suits you!”
The hollow form of Tora broke apart and as he stood there in his naked ethereal form, holding onto the mask that she took clean from his crown. He smiled at Risu.
The girl was beyond astonished at his expression, it wasn’t as if he was relieved, but rather he grew more curious of what strength she spoke of. He could not answer as the girls twisted kidou affected his rise to heaven and instead of progressing up a staircase two doors with skulls protruding from the Japanese design, opened the sliding doors and engulfed his soul.
At the time it was beyond Tora how cruel Risu turned out to be. Her blade held the power to send the hollowfied Tiger to Soul Society, but instead with a very sneaky Kidou the girl set him back twenty five years sentencing him to the realm of animals where he was forced to do nothing, but live out his life as such. Though vicious and proud Tora’s years of torment were released faster than most… mostly due to his stubborn nature. He fought against the animalized form he was forced to take daily until Hell itself realized that it had been tricked. His soul was supposed to progress to the realm of the jealous gods rather than suffer, and so with the will of hell he was released from his prison.
Prison… the realm of animals… and the realm of jealous gods both share the feeling of holding one against their will. He arrived in the lower districts of Rukongai where some of the rougher folks gathered; it was in this place that he gained the name Garandou Mumei meaning Nameless Void because that was how he acted. His time was spent between finding his path, meditation and fighting. He wanted not to know his name, but why he felt so off balance and of course how he correct this feeling… he knew nothing in knowledge, but his body and soul recorded his years down to the T. Tora roamed the district of Rukongai for one year… in one place he met the girl that captured him, the reason for his despair, and his new calling in life.
Risu, she was dressed in a white kimono that made her pitch black locks stand out just as much as her doll-like eyes. She stood completely exposed in a crowd of none at the market. Tora like the predator he was found himself intrigued. His memory had not returned, but there was something about the girl that attracted the killer to her… like a tiger suddenly finding interest in a rabbit. Hours went by and he hadn’t struck the girl. She was weak and unlike what her original form presented. Tora left the girl, but it wouldn’t be until he entered the Kazukaze (the kazunori family within soul society) house and found that the girl was once to be married into the family, but lost her powers when she casted a kidou to remove a troublesome hollow from existence.
Tora whom only entered the family after miraculously spotting his father, or rather it was his father that noticed Tora (though quite different with his eyes, hair, and body being changed by his time in hell.) Leisurely Tora had been running through the upper districts when he happened to stumble upon his father, who called out to him… he told Tora of the past and how his brother became influenced with western teachings and medicines... though Tora only remembered glimpses he didn’t care he was more interested in his fathers briefing him on how things in this world worked… like how the Shinigami were apparently the protectors of the land.
To Tora’s surprise even in Soul Society the Kazunori’s were farmers… true while most do not need to eat, those who have strength will grow hungry and Toranosuke was one of those individuals, so with permission of elders he entered the household once again and travelled out to the outskirts, but between his training and meditation he always returned to the city… He was quite clever with information and used his freetime wisely to plot for the future, his cover was a information broker.
It was by exchanging information that he happened to learn of the Second Division within the Gotei 13 and what it was they were capable of… the fights that could be had! Twisted; Tora approached some of the elders, he was one of the only men in the family to ever be a warrior and a honored one at that, so his words carried weight… secretly he continued to feed the idea of a rebellion into his family heads minds, so that they would think it’d be best for them to take a noble family down. The Kazunori- or rather the Kazukaze’s were rather large in numbers. Tora however did not mind, elders were to stuck up to give the credit to their warrior consult, they rallied those within the family- even women and children were gathered. Tora on the other hand had slipped his plan into motion… he was already to the very cusp of his own technique which used his unique aura… it was time he proved himself like he had done in Iga and Koga.
The time came when his information finally paid off and a informant mentioned the secret forces within the second division were moving to erase the Kazukaze. Tora had other plans though, he knew he needed to show loyalty and the drive to protect the realm… in a way his twisted logic to keep balance… so when the shinobi-like shinigami entered the courtyard of the home they’d see their job completed. Struck down and utterly defeated the Kazukaze family would lie slaughtered all but a few young ones protected by Toranoske, Toranoske without leaving any evidence settled all the members of the Kazukaze up for rebellion until those whom were to scared tried to lash out in hopes to find peace… and silently before a major conflict happened Tora slaughtered them… all but a few children whom nearly died when suspicions grew worse.
”Children have unlimited potential”
Toranosuke was sent to the maggots nest for a very short month and afterwards he was immediately enrolled in the academy and made a grunt of the stealth force. Many, many years later he’d be known for creating three assassination techniques, only rumored, but never seen/confirmed… all who see them are said to perish. Tora was also known for graduating from the academy in a year and half rather than the normal three years since he was already well versed in killing and after a human lifetime and hundred or so years of death under his belt, he was a ‘genius’ at controlling his spiritual energy. Tora also unlocked his zanpakuto within the two years, bot he has yet to reveal this knowledge…considering he has completed numerous missions both on and off the record without it. The last thing Tora has done for the past hundred years other than his constant training, missions, and random fights is sneak into the academy and maggots nest where he often takes the identity of a younger shinigami to gauge the level of students and criminals alike… after all he is a book-keeper.
Tora resides as one of the top stealth force agents whom rarely appears as a member of the Nibantai due to wanting to keep his aloofness, which is only possible thanks to his abnormal spiritual pressure that he comes and goes as he pleases, especially if its a chance to meet with the Soutaicho or members of the seven Nobilities because of their strength and of course job oppurtunities.
Lately he's reopened the Kazunori [Kazukaze] house within the third district at the top of Mount Koifushi. The house that once housed the elders now took in the children of the family and others whom Tora saw fit to help lead the family into stability, all like minded individuals that ran under his word and continued to uphold the fields that made them known through the land again. The House Of Shadows.
