GREAT SPIRITUAL POWER: James's spiritual pressure, due to his nature as a Vasto Lorde before discarding his mask, is at a level unattainable all but the strongest of souls. His Reiatsu clings to his body like armour, bathing him and everything around in a blinding red light when released. The sheer enormity of his power is enough to crush weaker beings without noticing, and even moderately powerful beings are brought to a complete standstill in his presence. Those subject to its full onslaught will find themselves slower in both mind and body; unable to comprehend such vast spiritual power, unable to keep up with the blinding speed of James's movements.
MASTERFUL SPIRITUAL CONTROL: James's control over his spiritual abilities ranks amongst the best, the control and finesse needed to utilise his abilities to their fullest required this of him. As a result, James is capable of maximising the efficiency of his techniques, using the minimum amount of energy required for any action. In addition to this, he is constantly aware of his own levels of energy, allowing him to make appropriate actions in combat.
PERFECTED PERCEPTION: James's style of fighting requires him to have absolute knowledge of the battlefield for it to be effective. Centuries of training and exercising his ability to observe the world around him has lead to James possessing near-omniscience. This omniscience grants James the ability to pinpoint the location of any being in his current dimension, should he choose to, simply by sensing their Reiatsu. Even suppressed Reiatsu is not hidden from his all-seeing gaze. In addition to this he has the ability to see the full 360* around himself and can determine the exact nature, quantity and quality of Reiatsu of any given person, item or ability in an instant. His perception is not fooled by illusions, only affected by the highest quality of abilities that affect his perception, and even that is to a minor degree. A trait unique to James is his ability to enhance his already god-like perception, increasing his reaction speed dramatically as the world around him slows, allowing him to make better judgements in the heat of battle.

Centuries of travelling the wastes of Hueco Mundo have pushed his stepping capabilities beyond what most are capable of, his Sonido almost instantaneous. His impossibly fast movements are matched by his dexterity and control of his actions, capable of contorting his flexible body in ways that would make a double-jointed gymnast shudder in disgust.
EXPERT WEAPON USE: James's skill with his blade allows him to compete all but the deadliest swordsmen on even grounds, capable of manipulating his Zanpakuto with speed and finesse unheard of for such a heavy and cumbersome weapon. While James doesn't use his sword in the traditional manner that most swordsmen are accustomed to, he can hold his own if necessary. He tends to attempt to overwhelm his opponents with his unnatural speed, relentlessly attacking with rapid thrusts and slices, relying on the large surface area of his blade to deflect incoming attacks. This style has been known to shatter blades his Zanpakuto collides with due to its incredible weight and the impossible speed it is swung at.
HAND-TO-HAND PRACTITIONER: James's centuries as a Hollow made learning the basics of unarmed combat a necessity, as the only weapons he possessed were his body and mind. While James is capable of engaging in fisticuffs without completely embarrassing himself, he has no desire to pursue this particular branch of combat as he has found no need to resort to hand-to-hand combat for centuries. While physically capable of performing great feats of strength, he possesses little to know technique, relying solely upon his raw strength if forced into unarmed combat. James fights dirty, not hesitating to kick a fool in the nuts or make use of his trusty pocket sand.
