HIGH SPIRITUAL POWER | An oddity to say the least, Ryo has found himself unable to maintain any form of reiatsu presence. Over the centuries, Ryo made up for this by almost reflexively enhancing physical strength and power as well as his speed with Reiatsu in quick bursts to this level.
- ZERO | This is an effect of his ability to store reiatsu and having zero reiatsu presence. Although this prevents him from being able to perform any fancy tricks with reiatsu pressure, it also allows the avoidance of detection by means of sensing reiatsu.
- UNSTABLE | Although unable to access most other forms of reiatsu manipulation, Ryo was born with the natural ability to enhance his physical abilities by releasing a burst of reiatsu into his arms in a punch/sword swing or a burst into his legs to perform Shunpo. These bursts last until the physical action is performed and then dissipate.
EXPERT AGILITY| Ryo's speed, like his strength, only comes in surges. Whereas most other spiritual beings are constantly nimble enough to dodge blades and arrows, Ryo has made up for this over the centuries by running marathons without reiatsu to increase base physical speed and learning to minimize damage taken via his flexibility, twisting his body into incredulous shapes inbetween Shunpos to evade danger.
NOVICE SPIRITUAL CONTROL | Unable to store reaitsu to cast kido, unable to detect reiatsu and not having to hide his presence means spiritual control was a trait that he found himself struggling to work on. His only use of this is a rather linear increase of physical traits in quick bursts. Using bursts, however is wasteful and also give him no idea how much is left in the pool.
MASTERED PERCEPTION | It can hardly be perfected when you lack one of the most important senses in the spirit world. Ryo is incapable of detecting reiatsu, often depending on allies to locate Hollow on outings in Rukongai. His other senses however, as a result are honed to the point of oversensitivity. His reaction time is otherworldly, having survived without the foresight of sensing reiatsu for so many centuries.
- ANIMAL INSTINCTS | His physical senses (sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch) are far superior to other spiritual beings, to the point where he can make use of minute muscle movements, heartbeat and sweat to keep track of his opponent as well as give him insight as to his opponent's next swing at him.
NOVICE HAND-TO-HAND | Having no formal training, he relies on instincts and bursts of strength to overpower his opponent in close quarter situations.
EXPERT SWORDSMAN | Ryo is an extremely capable swordsman, especially if the opponent is on the defense. Wielding his katana with only one hand, he swings it as if it were air in his hands. Although disadvantaged in a contest of strength in a deadlock against two handed Zanpakuto wielders, he generally avoids such situations with his style of utilizing his bursts of reiatsu to overwhelm his opponents in a frenzy of swings.
- TERMINAL VELOCITY | This is really what makes Ryo scary as a combatant, especially when synergized with his Zanpakuto. His sheer max velocity, acceleration and distance allows him to keep up, if not surpass almost everyone in the Gotei 13. However, due to his poor spiritual control, it is loud and obvious when he performs any form of Shunpo, creating a sonic boom sound.
- THE HUNT | This is Ryo's signature shunpo. When he or his Zanpakuto is in physical contact with any weapon/object/part attached to the enemy, and his opponent attempts any sort of Shunpo equivalent move, Ryo will remain in contact with the enemy whilst performing his own chasing Shunpo. This effectively keeps Ryo in combat range whilst limiting his oppponent's options in close quarters. Of course, if the movement ability was long ranged, the sound of his Shunpo would alert his allies where the target is too.

- NAME | Hōki Mubō | 放棄無謀 | Reckless Abandon
- APPEARANCE | There are no changes to the appearance of his katana, however with the use of one of his Shikai abilities, the other half of his Shikai appears in the form of a revolver. Both the katana and the revolver together form his Zanpakuto's released state.
- SPIRIT | Hōki Mubō's spirit takes the form of a pair of twins. They can seemingly convert their body parts into weapons by will, one into blades and the other cannons respectively. Their personalities are similar in that they are both slightly deranged psychopaths with a mean sadistic streak. Everytime Ryo enters the spirit world, which appears to take the form of an empty street in Tokyo at night, he is chased down with gunfire by the twins who demand he 'plays' with them.

- 一驚 IKKYOU | Ikkyou (lit. Surprise) is an innate ability that allows the summoning of the revolver half of his Shikai. This revolver comes with six shots and does not require cocking in between shots, it merely channels reiatsu into projectiles that deal tremendous force. The gun disappears after six shots and there will be a post of cooldown before Ryo is able to summon the gun again.
- 遠隔 ENKAKU | Enkaku (lit. Isolated) is a second passive that applies to his enemy when the revolver shots connect with the body of the enemy. The attack strips his opponent's ability to sense or communicate with his allies. This affects both physical and reiatsu sensing. The effect lasts until target changes dimension, or Ryo is killed.
- 血宴 CHIEN | Chien (lit. Blood Feast)(french for dog) is the third passive that triggers when the katana blade draws blood of a particular enemy. Ryo's blade subtly glows red and gains the ability to cut through passive reiatsu based defenses of that particular enemy, up to one level greater than his own cutting power (cuts through Great or below).
