Annicka comes off as weird to all that meet her. She is dorky and socially inept. She prioritizes science and knowledge above all else, so unless she can gain knowledge from something, she will get bored and lose interest. She is not concerned with boys, appearance, friendships, or anything of the sort. This is not to say that she cannot make friends and care about others; she just does not try to gain relationships.
Often consumed in her inventions and studying, Annicka only traverses into the public for helping Lucas, her partner and best friend, in his doings or to test her devices. She is oblivious to social norms and often does not know where lines are drawn. She can be invasive and seemingly rude, though her intentions are pure. She wants to learn so she can better the human realm which she is highly disgusted with. She absolutely abhors politics and government systems, and she is slightly paranoid that she is being watched and monitored by them.
Since Annicka is so "weird" to other humans, she only has one friend: Lucas. She is a loner type, though she doesn't mind being alone and quite enjoys it. As a young child, Annicka lived under the tyranny of her strict military father. Having been abandoned by her mother, she was a lone child being raised by her father, whom served as an officer in the military. Her relationship with her dad was pleasant despite his strict rules and ways of raising her, as he did appreciate her love of science. However, he did not understand her idiosyncrasies (which mirrored those with Aspergers Syndrome).
When she was twelve, her father died in a terrorist attack on his military base. She was moved to foster care and lived there for a year before running away. She decided to live on the streets and in the forests, conducting research on animal and plant life. It was in one of these jungles that Lucas found her and befriended her.
He accepted her charmless and antisocial nature, and she in return built him gadgets and weapons to help him on his vigilante sprees. After a few months of meeting up with him and discussing random things, she moved into his basement and has been there ever since. She serves to be his 'sidekick' of sorts and conducts experiments in the basement during her free time.
