The landscape really was beautiful indeed. Green meadows, lakes, the occasional castle or other ruin in the distance. She could hardly tell how anyone could prefer a jungle like New York to this. Well, aside from convenience and consumerism, of course. She had passes a few smaller villages so far, but not seen a single store or café to get something, so she kind of relied on what she had in her sports bottle and bag, hardly enough for a small picnic. Not that she needed to, of course, since a few small snacks were usually enough for her, at least until she reached a bigger city. If everything went according to plan, she could easily do that before sundown, and check into her hotel room.
That did not mean she was the kind of person to always have things planned meticulously. That would kind of defeat the point of spending her vacation like this. It was supposed to be a tour, ultimately, and she wanted to tour around. Thus, she had rented this sparkly new bycicle, which, on second glance, wasn’t all that sparkly new. Still, it was sturdy and reliable, and best of all, it was not indecent.
A lot of bikes were badly angled and didn’t really allow for a girl to wear her white skirts while using it, even if they were sport skirts. This one worked, though, allowing her to cycle freely and without much a care in the world.
Besides, the street she was using was rather quiet, too. She had seen more cars than other cyclists, sure, but it was a slow, peaceful day, the sun leisurely dominating the sky, accompanied by a soft, gentle breeze. In short, it was a rather perfect day. Good enough for her to just close her eyes and enjoy herself at time. She was not going at high speeds, after all, and was confident in her abilities to hold a bike steady. So why not? This was vacation, after all.
