There was this little cafe on the outskirts of China town. It was a fusion of karaoke and an 50's diner with juke boxes. Nobody was up on stage performing when Risa walked in. She was garbed in no shoulder cream top which fell past her waist, with a black tank top worn beneath it. Around her neck was a necklace with an elegant key design. It swayed along her chest as a gust of wind blew by. She attempted to open the door to the cafe, shielding some of the force. Her black leggings were quite warm as her ankle length boots entered the establishment. She was greeted by the staff, to which she adjusted her designer glasses before giving a curt nod. In truth, she didn't talk much when she came in here. It was more of a place to think, with music focusing her. On auto-pilot, she walked straight towards the juke box. She'd reach around to her left hip where her purse was, sliding the zipper to access her wallet. Once she got it, she'd get some change out and insert it into the coin slot. The song she selected was Frank Sinatra's "Fly me to the Moon".
It elegantly described what she wanted to do right now. To just get away from this life, for something more grand...yet relaxing. Admittedly, now she knew to be careful for what you wish for. Her life had been turned upside down since that day she encountered a woman from beyond. A Soul Reaper, that was the only thing she could describe her as. Since she killed the monster...well okay, she helped Risa kill the monster. But then, did that mean that she was now...a Soul Reaper? It made sense, she did transfer her powers but...for some reason she was able to return to her body. Ah well there were some blank points for that story. First, while she was having that out of body experience. Something inhabited her own body, a...substitute soul? No, an...artificial soul, right. Even now, she carried it around with her. Chappy was it's name, admittedly she was cute but...very, very disturbing. Chappy had at least broken down things for her. Even now, she was within her purse but...she didn't want to think much about that right now.
Good music, some latte's, she'd drown out everything.

"Hello? Oh, yes um...no, that's okay. You don't have to worry...Take care John."
That was...her best friend, the one whom she loved more than a best friend. If only he'd get a clue. Well, she'd contemplated just straight up asking him out but something kept holding her back. Was it fear? Probably but there had to be something to that fear. Not that it mattered now. She'd been a bit distant with him, ever since her...transformation. They'd been hanging out less and just now, he cancelled meeting her here. Probably for the best, how could she face him...she was...that is...was she even alive, right now?
"Fill my heart with song and let me sing forever more...Cause you are all I long for, all I worship...and adore~"
Hearing that verse caused her to smile but it was filled with such sorrow and sadness. She ended up turning her dead down to stare at the table. Her long strawberry blonde locks obscured her features, allowing her to cry without really being seen. Her arms wrapped around her, a self-embrace that provided little comfort. A single word etching itself along the forefront of her cerebral. Quiet at first, then it pounded. Over and over, harder and faster, like a wrecking ball.
"Why..."
Why her?
