High Spiritual Power: Hiroki was born with the latent raw talent and power to make it through Shin'ō Academy with no problems, but never enough to be labeled as being "prodigious". Through his two centuries of constant battle and training, honing his skills and growing stronger after each fierce battle, his spiritual power has grown to the point where it's on equal footing with a Vice-Captain. Radiating a calm, wavy blue haze, his entire body will often become enshrouded in the aura of his power, coating the area around his form in a dark blue sheen. As a battle rages and his demeanor becomes more and more enraptured in the ecstasy of battle, his aura will become more and more fierce, shifting from a vague haze into an inferno.
Moderate Spiritual Control: Despite his raw power, Hiroki has issues with bringing all of his own power under control. Though he is capable of concealing it and displaying most of it with some willpower, he is unable to bring about it's full potential unless he's locked within a battle with an opponent of equal or greater strength. His lack of complete control over his own abilities is one of the major reasons he's been so slow to rise through his time as a Shinigami. With time, he hopes more practical experience and training will help him bring his own powers to heel.
Expert Perception: Over two hundred years of seeing thousands of different techniques and powerful opponents has allowed Hiroki to diagnose an opponents ability in combat and their techniques through only one or two demonstrations of their power. Though he struggles with detecting an opponents spiritual power from long distances, within a mile he can detect most powerful presences.
Mastered Zanjutsu: His swordsmanship is what Hiroki prides above all else. A master of a myriad of Kenjutsu forms, the strongest of which being his Battōjutsu, striving to end a fight before it ever truly begins. His affinity towards Zanpakutō combat has given him an edge few others posses in terms of pure ability, mastering every unique skill the Shinigami have developed for sword based combat. His experience in the Juichibantai has made him into a more than formidable opponent, able to wield any sort of bladed weapon with ease.
- Sparrow's bites (紅雀 咀嚼): A technique Hiroki has developed due to the nature of his Zanpakutō. It's a primarily thrusting technique, using hundreds fast paced thrusts towards an enemy in a matter of seconds. Focusing his spiritual power in the tip of his blade as he thrusts. It's the equivalent of a jab fighter in boxing, using short, plentiful, quick but not overtly powerful strikes to weaken and disable an opponent before they have a chance to react. However this technique is nothing but pure offense, leaving a multitude of gaps within his defense that can be easily exploited by another skilled swordsman. That along with it's requirement of concerted spiritual control, it's a technique he seldom uses.
Expert Hakuda: Though not nearly as well versed in hand-to-hand fighting as he is with a sword, Hiroki is a more than capable Hakuda practitioner. His physique and combat experience allowing him a level of skill and grace that makes him a formidable opponent even if he has been disarmed. Centuries of strength and power rippling through his form. While a battle of grappling or using his weight is not an option, his body and joints are all quite flexible, affording him usage of more fluid types of hand-to-hand, akin to Chinese martial arts more than a western fist fighter.
Expert Hohō/Agility: Knowing that his lithe frame afforded him little ability to out bulk opponents, Hiroki learned that simply being faster than his opponent would usually afford him victory even before he'd entertained the thought of becoming a Shinigami. His already agile and flexible form allowed him to grasp Shunpo very quickly into his tenure within the 11th. And has refined his skill over the past hundred years.
Novice Kido: Lacking requisite control over his power, Kido has never come easily to Hiroki, only being capable of performing two low level Hado with any sort of power. Rarely using either due in part to his lack of skill and the dishonor of using them in the 11th division.
- Shō: Using it primarily as a defensive move, the forceback effect he generates with Sho is negligible to any opponent with halfway decent spiritual power.
- Byakurai: Though strong from close range, the effect of his Byakurai are virtually non-extant if he doesn't score a direct hit to an enemy's vital organs.
