Maiko - Skills & Techniques i (Fin)

Great Spiritual Pressure ・ As a captain, Maiko boasts a rather high spiritual pressure. Dwarfing her subordinates, it is equal among the captains - though, that's nothing to be ashamed of. Able to bring many of her sanseki to their knees, if she truly wanted to, hers is comprised of a raging inferno when she chooses to unleash it. The heat and flames are nothing but a feeling of comfort to her, while others feel the intensity and cringe. Able to take on an army all by herself, she would easily be able to level a city simply on a whim.

Masterful Zanjutsu ・ From the moment that Maiko had entered the Shinōreijutsuin she had an innate talent for swords. She was able to grasp the sword and feel the hum of the blade as she sliced it through the air, becoming the best of her class easily. When it comes to a battle of swords there are not very many people that can best her, let alone match her. From one-handed to two-handed her control and precision, as well as strength, is easily overwhelming. Developing several techniques and honing those that they were taught in the Shin'ō Academy, her skill is exceptional even among the captains. Her movements with a blade are so clean and lithe, able to lob off the head of an enemy while making it appear that she's just slinging her sword around.

• Suikawari (西瓜割, Watermelon Splitting) ・This technique is one that is taught to many of the students at the academy, she simply refined and enhanced it for her own use. Grasping her sword with two hands she makes a swift cut to bisect her opponent from head to groin.
• Onakawari (顎割, Stomach Splitting) ・A simple technique similar to the prior technique, though made by Maiko herself. A form of Iaido she will rest her hand on the hilt of her blade and quickly unsheathe her sword in order to bifurcate her opponent, before sheathing her sword again.
• Hōzuri (頬摺, Cheek Stroke) ・Though not a technique that can cause real damage to her opponents, it works on a psychological level. Making a slashing movement, a thin wave of air flies from her zanpakutō and makes a small cut on the appendage effected, usually their cheek.

Perfected Sōjutsu ・ Her skill with her sword is amazing, but her skill with spears are on a completely different level. When she has a spear she is nigh unstoppable, earning her a prestige among the Sereitei as the greatest spear wielder in all of their history. Every movement she makes is an incredible mixture of grace and deadly strength and accuracy. She is able to repel the attacks of someone wielding their blade with both hands, with just one of hers. Though she prefers to use both of her hands, which then is overkill for her opponent. A demon with her spear, the woman has been known to slay 1,000 hollow in just one sweep of her beloved weapon.

Masterful Spiritual Control ・ As someone of captain class, it would be extremely detrimental if she didn't have a mastered control over her reiatsu. From her sword being stories high, to her reiatsu leaking and affecting those around her - there would be no good outcome. So, upon being told this by her peers during her time as a member of the 10^th division, she had began training to hone her control. Countless hours spent focusing and compressing it, releasing and then restraining herself. Upon being inducted as a Captain, she had achieved a high and commendable plain of control.

Hohō Expert ・ Maiko has above average speed, able to keep up with several of her fellow captains and out speed her subordinates. Her Shunpo is refined and very impressive for someone of her stature. Her skill was enough for the Omnitsukidō to invite her to join as a member of their task forces, but not enough to become one of the higher ranking "generals." She finds herself able to avoid and dodge deadly attacks, very light on her feet along with her already lithe movements make her someone extremely proficient in the art.

Expert Perception ・ Though many perceive the youngest captain as oblivious to the world around her, that is far from true. Though her single minded pursuit of justice is a burning sensation within her mind, as is taking in the actions of those around her. The environment, her allies, her enemies, nothing is lost on her. It stemmed from her love of reading about the law and absorbing knowledge; taken into battle it makes her an expert tactician on top of her already exceptional combat capabilities. Able to see a technique three times before creating an impressively accurate theory about it's origin, use, and power. Her looks and reputation belie the spectacular intelligence that lay beneath the surface.

Hakuda Practitioner ・ Maiko's ability with her fists, and her legs, is mediocre at best. She has enough talent that she could survive if she lost her weapon, as well as able to fend off multiple opponents, but not enough to be considered impressive. Her style of Hakuda consists of powerful kicks to keep her opponents at bay while creating a decent amount of space between them.

Kidō Practitioner ・ Not one to focus on the spiritual arts, she has no true use for Kidō. She is able to use it proficiently in battle to attack and defend, but her strength in it isn't enough to use it as a main source of her assault. When she does use Kidō she needs to use the incantations and stand still, for the most part.
