Humming to herself cheerfully, her haori draped delicately over her shoulders and her shihakusho sleeves rolled up slightly, if anyone were to walk in they would be in awe at the sheer normalcy of everything. When the Shinigami of the Sereitei imagined the captains they mostly thought of nothing but paperwork and training. Though they were very real and true aspects of their everyday lives', it certainly wasn't the extent of it. Even someone like Maiko, who was seen as one of the more zealous captains, enjoyed a bout of peace and quiet. And on such a day, she decided that she would share a few moments with on of the very few people she actually enjoyed talking to. Because of her seeking of pure and total justice, many people sought it fit to fear her and it made conversation weary. Her vice-captain was certainly a special woman, one-of-a-kind.
She's laid-back, calm, easy to talk to which complimented the fact that people were afraid of Maiko, she had a temper, and was much more uptight. In the younger woman's presence she found herself able to smile and laugh without much of a care. Kimura was the perfect antithesis to the rather stoic captain and, admittedly, Maiko used her as a soothing agent from time-to-time. They hadn't known one another very long, a few missions here and there, and since her promotion was only a week ago they hadn't really established much of a captain and vice-captain relationship. In fact, she was merely basing the decision off the few times they had talked on missions.
The kettle whistled as she finished setting up the cups and cakes. She almost decided to go with finger sandwiches but she had to give into her sweet tooth. The cold winter air whistled outside as she tied her trailing hair up.
