ZANPAKUTUONAME: Jishingakai [地身瓦解; lit Land Crumble]
FORM: Jishingakai was once a well respected sword that was used on every slogan and advertisement for the noble guard. It’s dimensions fit its classification as a katana, though it has various unique details. The guard and pommel are both golden, with the former being rectangular. Engraved on it are obsidian lines that form mountain peaks that extend from the blade. The hilt itself is wrapped in a rich green fabric that appears earthy. Whenever Teruo’s spiritual power goes through the blade, cracks appear within it and then rapidly disappear.
INNER SPIRIT: Teruo’s inner world is a massive craigy plane, filled with gargantuan mountains and deep canyons. These mountains and canyons change often due to the constant work of Jishingakai, who destroys and rebuilds the land so that it fits Teruo’s mood. When he is angry, it is a wasteland. When he is sad, it is a massive canyon. When he is happy, the mountains are impossibly tall. Jishingakai manages this because he takes the form of a gargantuan elephant made out of boulders. Just as he changes the world, so too does he change his size. When angry he is giant, though when depressed he is the size of a rat. He prefers not to talk, believing that actions are greater than words. Jishingakai is loyal to his master, and believes that he should try to be stronger than the mountains his clan represents.
SHIKAI: In order to release his shikai, Teruo will hold his blade before him, pointing it straight ahead. He will then proclaim “Make the mountains bow, Jishingakai.” and pull the weapon back to his side and spin it. As it spins it collects dirt from the air and rocks from the ground, which creates its new shape. In just moments Jishingakai turns from a katana into a unique bo staff. The body is roughly two meters long, ending in two one-meter long kanabos. These mace heads are thicker than the actual staff and are the color of beige dirt. Large rocky spikes extend from each one, numbering forty on both sides.
ABILITIES:UNNAMED PASSIVE ABILITY Whenever Jishingakai strikes an opponent with either kanabo head, it explodes viciously. The force of the explosion is enough to send even captain-class opponents flying through multiple buildings, often breaking bones. The damage is made even more severe by the rock spikes that force themselves into the target, often leaving them crippled from internal injuries. This effect only triggers when hitting an opponent directly or hitting their armor, not when parrying strikes. Additionally, Teruo can activate this ability by himself. When the heads are destroyed they are promptly reformed instantaneously by the surrounding earth and dust in the air.“RUMBLE, JISHINGAKAI!” By proclaiming “Rumble, Jishingakai!” Teruo is capable of unleashing seismic vibrations through the air or ground. These waves are strong enough to break most barriers and rend the earth, sending massive walls of rock towards a target. What makes this ability so powerful is the fact that these seismic waves, due to being vibrations, go through a target’s defenses and damage their organs and bones. They are fired off in waves that grow as they travel, and after ten meters are large enough to overcome houses and strong enough to shave the sides off of skyscrapers.BANKAI: Teruo’s bankai is a powerful weapon that is forbidden to be used within the Seireitei or any large human settlement. In order to unleash it he will spin the staff over his head and shout out “Bankai!” before smashing one of the kanabo heads into the ground. This releases a tremendous explosion of rock and dust that spirals around him. This dust and rock condenses around Teruo as he states the name of his bankai, Jirikugakai [地陸瓦解 lit. Continent Crumble].
In bankai, the body of the staff is now five meters in length with the two kanabo heads being thicker and three meters in length each. The spikes are now smaller and more numerous, numbering in two hundred on both sides. Rock armor covers his arms from the fingers up to the shoulder blades. Where they connect is a large oval of obsidian. As long as this obsidian is unbroken, and it is very hard, the rock armor around Teruo’s arms can be continuously reformed. Additionally, the staff can be broken in two and wielded as two kanabo’s at Teruo’s discretion.
ABILITIES:DAIKOUTSUCHI NO KANRYO “Roaring Prisoner’s Immense Earth Flood” is the initial ability used by Teruo in bankai. Smashing his staff into the ground, he will summon four gargantuan walls of earth. They tower a mile into the air and surround an area of that size, connecting at the edges. Any time the walls are damaged they reform instantaneously. The tops of the walls continuously break apart and rain down massive boulders, ranging from size anywhere from a car to a skyscraper, down into the pit. When they hit the ground they turn to dust after promptly smashing anything in their path. Due to the spiritual power in the boulders, being hit by one is deadly to most unprotected combatants, and captain-class individuals risk being smashed by the sheer size. The boulders continuously rain from above, making it extremely difficult for anyone within to avoid these for long.
REIHA-SHINOU “Soul-Crushing Epicenter” is a passive ability that makes melee combat with Teruo extremely dangerous. Every time his rock armor or staff comes into contact with an opponent, the force of his seismic waves--increased tenfold by bankai--are infused into the target. While only touching the armor damages the offending limb, weapon, or technique, if the staff lands a strike it goes straight to the torso of the victim. This only applies if a direct hit is scored, one not blocked by any spiritual defense. Being hit by such force often completely obliterates what Teruo has struck; however, this ability has to be turned on for it to work. If it is on for five posts then the reiryoku in the obsidian on his back is expended, and requires another two posts before Reiha-Shinou can be reactivated.
SHIGAIZANSHOU “Corpses Birthing Mountains” is an ability Teruo only uses when he wishes to execute someone that has gravely wronged him. It has only been used once, and it along with Daikoutsuchi no Kanryo serve as the reason as to why he is called the Father of Mountains. Using his staff, he will knock a target into one of the massive rock walls his bankai births. Then, all four walls will turn to dust and reform on top of the target, forming a literal mountain on their body. Needless to say, this kills the target and everything around it save Teruo, unless he failed to take the proper precautions.
