Fleur laughed. Not too loud, of course, but still rather jovial, just like one would expect a lady to laugh, if given a proper joke at a place like this. It was only slightly inappropriate, because there had been no joke at all, just a throwaway comment. But it was a good comment. It actually verified some of the things she had been musing about, even though it was not a surefire way to do so. Still, it was a strong indicator of her being right in this regard. Still better to explain it, even though she obviously remained cryptic while doing so. “Of course you don’t remember it. Because in all likelihood, you have not been sick at all in your life so far – at least that is what I would reckon. It should still be incomplete, though.” And that should do a good job in stringing this one along even further. Novelists often were like this, could not pass up on a good intrigue. Especially not those who already seemed to hold themselves in high regard - put those in the centre of a story and bam, irresistible. This girl was making it rather obvious that she was more into this genre than say romantic comedy, either way, so this was mutually beneficial. Although Fleur could not guarantee things not taking a turn into the horror territory, eventually. In the end, though, she left it at that for now, and instead followed the talk about the parents, in a sort of two-pronged attack. Their behaviour did not surprise the elder bount too much, although she had to admit, it was rare to hear of such short sighted people. They really must have had it easy until now, maybe not even knowing of the existence of the supernatural. Otherwise security around here would be tighter and/or this girl more informed. The thought of her being in some kind of trap did not occur to her at all. “You must be very happy to have parents such as this. Supportive of your choices, rich enough to give you anything you might need and want. To grow up in such an environment must be have been great, I always dreamt of things like this when I was but a young maiden.” |
