The Onmitsukidō controlled quite an impressive span of property, hosting a little over a thousand temples in their domain. Upon his promotion, Sano found himself inheriting one of these temples from the former Detention Unit Commander and, thankfully, it was one that held an underground training facility. He wouldn't think twice about accepting such a generous gift, as he figured it to be reasonable since he was one of the five highest ranking members.
Besides, he enjoyed it more for the training space than the living space, and would've been fine if he had to relocate to the underground training area for residence. Evident of this was the fact that he was actually taking a nap in the underground space this very moment, though his light slumber would be disturbed by a call of duty.
"I suppose it is time...," he muttered to himself as he rose from his sitting position against a wall. Apart of his personal condition training was mastering the ability to sleep anywhere he could possibly fit. If he needed rest, he could sleep while standing or even go as far as to sleep in cramped spaces as bad as an iron maiden. A famous rumor was that he once took a nap in a vase just to prove that he could, and let us just say that the rumor was not entirely facetious.
Because of such training, his wall nap was actually very refreshing. It was all that he could ask for, as he didn't want something like fatigue to interrupt his significant training session before he reached desirable results. Especially since this particular session was for something he had spent almost a decade trying to achieve.
It was bankai, the final release of a shinigami's zanpakutō. The first step of the process seemed to be pulling the blade's spirit from the inner world. This manifestation, essentially the reverse of the shikai process where the user entered their inner world, was the easy part. Hell, Sano had already made it that far many years ago. The next step was getting the spirit to submit to your will while manifested.
It was this part that bothered the shinigami, as he could not understand why he was unable to do so. Whenever he combated the spirit, he would have the upper hand until exhaustion overcame him and cause his performance to drop. No matter how close he came to winning, Moyume would defiantly resist his attempts to contain her and he would be forced to retire so that he could recover for the next round.
The bright side about the Tenshintai was that it would make the manifestation less taxing on Sano's spiritual energy so that he could fight longer. But he would not start just yet. He had learned to make sure he ate a proper meal after getting proper rest before going into an intensive full-day training session. He sighed and, as if on queue, two subordinates of his appeared within his immediate area."Sorry we are late, sir!" apologized one frantically. They came bearing trays that held what seemed like metal domes. Sano smiled as he opened his eyes, looking to the two with what was apparent appreciation. They had not noticed, as they were busy kneeling and holding up the trays like offerings to a god. As flattering as it was, he couldn't help but chuckle. He still hadn't adjusted to the formalities of the Onmitsukidō. Rather, he hadn't adjusted to being heralded for his rank.
"'Tis fine. Did you make sure to bring three meals?" Sano raised a brow. How long would they remain kneeling?"Y-yes, sir. Uh.. Excuse me, sir, but do you really plan on eating so much?" questioned one in what seemed like confusion.
"..." At that moment, the commander's face was the definition of unamused."Well, it just wouldn't be benefici--," responded one before being silenced by a wave of Sano's hand.
"You two are certainly silly. One's for me, the others are for you. We will be eating together." Sano chuckled, wondering if tales of his habits were so grim that they thought him some selfish glutton. At any rate, he would enjoy a peaceful breakfast with the two before having them tend to their duty: maintaining the Tenshintai's form.
Needless to say the two were a bit surprised that the commander would humble himself so much to actually eat with them, but it was neither a concern of his nor something that wouldn't benefit him. If he wanted them to hold out as long as they could, he needed them to also be well-rested and fed. On his signal, the two wrapped two chains around the doll and utilized the shunpo to maintain a safe distance.
Usually, when training with the tenshintai, one would have someone of equal or higher spiritual energy maintain the manifestation by using their own spiritual energy. However, due to the nature of Sano's release, the two needed to get to a safe distance else they suffer from Moyume's wrath. To facilitate the distance, they would use conduit chains in order to lend their reiryoku. It also allowed Sano to be able to fight without worrying about their safety.
Shwip. Shink!
The sounds were Sano's zanpakutō whipping out of its sheath as the result of an extremely swift draw while penetrating into the core of the white mannequin before him. It was all in one motion, though anyone relatively skilled with zanjutsu that could track his movements would attest to the fact that only his speed was impressive while his form had much room for improvement.
"Brace yourselves, it's going to get a little chilly."
A mist infiltrated the room immediately as Sano spoke, just barely failing to touch the two subordinates while completely enveloping the raven haired shinigami. His eyes tenderly looked upon the form of his zanpakutō's inner spirit, a woman whose beauty was truly inhuman. The goddess of cold didn't make eye contact with him, perhaps because she didn't want to paralyze him with fear before the trial even began.
It actually pained him a bit, looking upon such a gentle form with the realization that he had to beat her into submission.
