Saegusa Kotone

HIGH SPIRITUAL POWER: Kotone has been trained from young, and even now she still trains during her free time. She is strong enough to stand out, but not enough to blow people away. For this reason Kotone avoids fighting and chooses not to fight hollows if there are others nearby who can do it.

EXPERT PERCEPTION: Kotone does not read people's minds. However, constant reaction training has given her great reaction speeds. She is able to hit moving targets and predict physical movements, but falls to mind tricks and illusions. Her ipovlopsychophobia can even detect hidden cameras, although she doesn't do so well with concealed weapons and other similar items.

EXPERT SPIRITUAL CONTROL: Kotone does not like to pick fights, so she constantly suppresses her spiritual pressure. As a result, she has a very good control over her own spiritual pressure. Her spiritual weapon allows her to fire at multiple (and/or far away targets) at once, so she also has to train her spiritual sensing abilities in order to properly utilize her power. However, because of it's unorthodox form, Kotone has not progressed far enough to be called a master.

• CAMERA DISTORT: A strange property of her spiritual pressure, born from her aversion to cameras. Should Kotone's spiritual pressure be unsupressed (an unlikely event), a strange phenomenon occurs where Kotone will appear distorted when seen through cameras. This mainly applies to cameras made of kishi, but can affect reishi cameras to some extent.

HAND-TO-HAND PRACTICIONER: Kotone trains in the art of Shorin-ryu Karate at least once a week, especially to develop her legs and balance. The style focuses on perfect techniques to bring out all of the body's strength. While Kotone has not progressed far enough to be called an expert, her kicks and balance are nothing to laugh at.

WEAPON ARTS PRACTICTIONER: Kotone's spiritual weapon not only has two forms, but both are unorthodox for the Quincy and are difficult to use. After a lot of training, Kotone has become proficient at marksmanship, but is still unable to bring out the most out of her spiritual weapons, or figure out a real practical use for some of the unique abilities she has. While trained, Kotone cannot handle the Seele Schneider well, despite having the privilege of owning one.

MARKSMANSHIP EXPERT: Kotone can lock onto and accurately strike a maximum of 15 moving targets at once with her Multi-Lock ability. However, because her ability has implied that she could actually target a much larger number of targets, she cannot be called a master despite being able to pull such an impressive display of marksmanship.

AGILITY EXPERT: Kotone's ipovlopsychophobia and reactions training has given her great agility, contrary to her figure. Her Hirenkyaku is fast from start to finish, but there are others who can still outspeed her in the art.

GINTO PRACTICTIONER: Kotone has knowledge of the art of using the Silver Tubes and finds herself able to use the mysterious liquid with ease, but she does not know many spells. Therefore, she cannot be called an expert. For what she does know, she can execute quickly and efficiently, as her talent as a voice actress has given her the skill to chant quickly without slipping up.


Quincy Cross: The core of the Quincy, often disguised as a symbol of religion. Kotone wears a silver necklace with a Schwertkreuz (Sword Cross) attached to it. The ends of the necklace is held together by magnetic forces so it can be taken off with ease (should it be required).

Ginto: Small tubes containing Quincy reiryoku in a condensed liquid form. These small capsules are used for the Quincy's more mystical arts. Kotone usually carries three or four of them in her handbag.

• 五架縛 (Gritz): "A silver rod strikes the five-fingered stone bed!" By chanting this and throwing one Silver Tube towards to an enemy five large plates of metal will encapsulate the target, forming the pentacle symbol. It is (relatively) easy to break out of, but works as a good distraction or screen to prevent the opponent from seeing the user's next move.
  
• 聖噬 (Heizen): "Feel the wrath of battle and accept this sacred chalice." Upon chanting this technique and using four Silver Tubes, a large, rectangular block of energy is generated. This block will cleanly erase anything in it's path.

Seele Schneider: The Soul Cutter is a unique arrow that doubles as a sword. It works like a chainsaw, with the reishi on it's edge making 3 million round trips per second. With it's edge, the Soul Cutter loosens the bonds between the reishi of whatever it cuts in order to open it up for reishi manipulation. Kotone carries 1 in it's sheath wherever she sees fit.

• 聖剣爆撃 (Heiliges Schwert) [Seiken Bakugeki|Holy Sword Explosive Strike]: "My King, accept and direct my sword!" An experimental technique developed by Kotone's foster mother. Pointing the Soul Cutter at the enemy, the user slams an opened Silver Tube into the hilt of the Soul Cutter while chanting, causing the reishi in the Soul Cutter and the liquid in the Silver Tube to react and rush forward in a surge of energy that punches a hole in whatever it makes contact with. It can be called a horizontal version of Sprenger, but it is more like Heizen as it leaves a hole where the surge once was. Uses up all the reishi of the Soul Cutter as well as expending one Silver Tube.

Multi-Form Spiritual Particle Field Generator: A new piece of cutting-edge technology developed by Saegusa Kotone's foster father. These exclusive tools were given to Kotone as a Christmas present. She is one of the only three Quincy who own this item, the other two being, obviously, the Saegusas (as the production method has yet to be simplified, and takes too long to produce). It is so advanced, the Quincy community almost refuse to acknowledge it was created by a Gemischt. It appears as a short baton-like instrument about 16 inches in total length. It consists of an interface in the middle, with two black handles on each side. The interface consists of a small black screen, up and down buttons to scroll through options, and hexagonal buttons. The screen appears to be electronic, but the material the tool is made of seems to be a mystery in it's entirety. The main body can be seen by spiritually unaware people, leading people to speculate it's a mix of kishi and reishi. Obviously, that is a paradox. Kotone carries 2 with her at any time.

It is essentially a Quincy's swiss army knife. When a button is pressed and an amount of Quincy spiritual power channelled into the tool (depending on the tool selected, usually miniscule amount), it generates a field which contains flowing reishi, gathered by utilizing a Quincy's powers. For this reason, only a Quincy can activate it, but a Quincy may pass it to another person for shared use so long as the tool is already activated.

There are several settings, which spawn tools of reishi. They go from rare tools like Ice Picks, to everyday utensils like Can Openers, to toolbox items like Screwdrivers, to even kitchen utensils like a Spatula and Kitchen Knife.

• Umbrella: Pushing the button, the tool generates an umbrella made out of reishi, large enough to cover two people. It is special because it is designed to change the rainwater from a liquid state to a gaseous state. How it accomplishes this is said to be "done with vibrations", but it is largely unknown.
• Karate Weapon Series: A series of weapons used in the Shorin-ryu style of Karate that Kotone practices. There are 5 weapons in total: A 6-foot Bō staff, a Kama sickle, a Tonfa, chains to form a pair of Nunchaku, and a Sai. All of these are standard size.
• Katana: A setting that uses more spiritual power to generate a field of constantly flowing reishi, mimicking the folding of a true katana which allows for great aerodynamic properties and cutting power. Unlike the other fields, it does not generate immediately. One side of the handle can now be disconnected, acting as the sword's handle which spawns the field from it. The other side will then act as the sheath. It's power as a blade exceeds the cutting power of the Seele Schneider. Of course, in return, it doesn't work as an arrow, nor can it be used to execute Sprenger.

SPIRITUAL WEAPON NAME: Lichtfluss (流れる光|Nagareru Hikari|Flowing Light)

Lichtfluss is a unique spiritual weapon with two forms:

Bildschirmform (Screen Form): Lichtfluss' primary form. It takes the appearance of a floating virtual screen (size is adjustable) made of translucent blue reishi, and can spawn a virtual "keyboard" for text input if required. It is manifested by having Kotone clasp her hands over her Quincy cross, then manifesting a small rectangle of reishi as her hands separate, which then enlarges into the screen. It can display a variety of info, including self-input text, but it mainly functions as an aiming assistant to fire her shots with.

• MULTI LOCK: Kotone's special ability that allows her to keep track of and attack multiple opponents at once. A pre-requisite skill for her unique Quincy abilities.

• Heilig Pfeil (Holy Arrow): The primary Quincy ability. However, despite being called "arrow", the Heilig Pfeil is bizzarely different for Kotone: It manifests as a blue ball of reishi at first. When it is aimed and fired, it turns into a beam of energy that pierces the target.
• Multi Lock Fire: Kotone locks onto multiple enemies by pulling up a radar on the screen, a visual display of her reiatsu sensing. Then, she generates several balls of reishi which are then fired out as guided laser beams. This results in much greater accuracy.
• Licht Regen (Light Rain): Kotone forgoes lock on and fires her lasers en masse (approximately 200/s). Good for dealing with hordes of weaklings or breaking up the landscape. Bad for dealing with less than 10 targets.
• Stinger Snipe: A new form of Heilig Pfeil. First, an extra-large ball of light made of a mix of reiryoku and reishi is spawned. It is then aimed and fired as a beam of light, usually in a curved or snaking trajectory, piercing multiple targets at once. At the end of it's range, or once it hits an obstacle it cannot pass, the reiryoku activates and gathers the reishi around it, effectively re-charging itself. It can then be aimed and re-fired from it's new position, repeating the process. This technique lasts for three turns (one shot per turn if fired to max range), and regular Heilig Pfeil can be fired alongside it. Kotone can control a maximum of three of these "Stingers" at any time.
• Lichtlanze (Lance of Light): An attack created by merging several regular Heilig Pfeil to achieve synergy. Creating several balls of light in a line pointed at the enemy, the trajectories of the beams are connected into a single line. This creates a thick, powerful, beam of light with far greater speed, power and range than the same number of beams shot from different angles at the same point. The greater the number, the more powerful the beam, but this technique suffers from diminishing returns, and any more than ten is impractical.
• Lichtschirmhindernis (Light Screen Barrier): A defensive technique which enlarges and forms a dense film of reishi over the screen, turning it into a shield.

Kanoneform (Cannon Form): Lichtfluss' secondary form. Closing up the screen, Lichtfluss transforms into a large, futuristic, shoulder-mounted cannon of blue translucent reishi. If required, a small screen can be pulled out from the side to assist with aiming, like a scope.

• SNIPER SENSE: Kotone can now sense reiatsu from up to 2 kilometers away, so long as she remains focused in that direction.

• 無限条の光 Unendliche Schwall(Unending Flood|Mugenjou no Hikari|Infinite Article of Light): A long-range bombardment attack with an infinite power potential. Kotone stations herself (usually prone, but can be in any other position so long as she remains mostly still) and gathers reishi into her cannon while compressing it. She then fires the reishi out as a laser beam proportionate to the amount of reishi gathered.
  
  The charging process is easy to hold, but the time required to fire powerful shots increase exponentially, and it is easy to disrupt (by simply striking the cannon with a moderate amount of strength). Two full hours of charging can release a wave only someone of spiritual power one rank higher could perform with the entirety of their power. This is Kotone's maximum limit for her concentration, and is far too impractical to actually attempt.
  
  However, the charging process can be boosted by pouring the contents of Silver Tubes into the cannon. With a single Silver Tube, she can instantly release a decently powered blast for her level of power. However, to reach the aforementioned "maximum" power in an instant, she'd need twenty Silver Tubes, which is more than Kotone would ever bother to carry.
  

血装 (Blut): Blut is a Quincy technique that works by introducing reishi into their blood vessels to increases their attack or defense power. Because the reishi systems for the attack and defense are separate, only one can be used at a time, although it can be easily switched at will. Kotone is an Echt Quincy, so she acquired this technique naturally.

• 静血装 (Blut Vene): The defensive form of Blut, which works by lining the walls of blood vessels with reishi. When struck, a pattern resembling one's veins will show faintly around the impact area. Not only can it stop something as powerful as a Shinigami's Bankai, it can also stop blood loss in the case an attack does get through.
• 動血装 (Blut Arterie): An offensive form of Blut, which works by making reishi flow with one's blood. This grants greater attack power and allows Quincy to go on par with a Shinigami's Bankai.
