THE ARTIFICIALS

Before the Slashing Opera began, roughly four hundred years ago, the shinigami were on the ropes. Facing a war on all fronts, they began to create enhanced soldiers of various types for the purpose of bolstering the forces. Each project has been hidden in turn, due to various reasons. They are all listed below. 

The Visoreds were the first, hollow-shinigami hybrids with immense power. One hundred shinigami, including two captains, were experimented on. How many of those lived is unknown, but most of them were destined to lose all control over their hollow side. As a result the project was terminated and the majority of the Visored were executed. Some escaped and live now in the mortal world, Hueco Mundo, and the depths of the Rukongai--remnants of an era long past. While the current council of captains knows of them, the whereabouts and intentions of many of the Visoreds is unknown. 

The Bounts were the next created. There were two generations of Bounts created, though both projects were terminated for the same reasons as the Visored project. The first generation was created by merging a shinigami soul with a zanpakutou. This turned the zanpakutou into a “doll”, who had the complete powers of the soul achieved. The second generation was formed by giving a zanpakutou to a spiritual human. This resulted in similar results. The zanpakutou took the form of a different object, such as a deck of cards or a ring, and allowed for the manifestation of the dolls. However, this often led to insanity in the Bount. As a result, the project was terminated and most bounts were executed. Those that remain are, just like the Visoreds, scattered amongst the three realms. 

The Modified Souls was the last project created, and is the only one ongoing. Originally intended to be artificial souls inserted into human corpses to create soldiers, they have since changed to become artificial souls inserted into gigai. Thousands of these exists, and their production continues even to this day. 

While all three races are open, please ensure that any Bount or Visored is at least four hundred years of age or older.
