Had she been one to grow her hair out, Irie would easily be confused for Hinaai in her youth. The attractive blonde stands modestly at five inches over five feet, wearing the weight of one hundred and eight pounds quite well with a thin and athletic body-type that often contradicts her strength. Being an obvious tomboy, the blue-eyed Jukan keeps her hair at chin-length, and always in a fashionable styling. While considered gorgeous to most, she refuses to sexualize her appearance and is typically dressed in a sleeveless and backless shihakushō tied with a blue obi sash.
personality
One would have to be short of a couple chromosomes in order to mistake Irie for being an approachable woman. While she’s a cordial being, dealing with the constant venom upon her tongue is nothing less than unpleasant. There are few beings capable of withstanding her constant aggression and sarcasm, and there hardly a handful that don’t receive the unnecessary verbal toxins; namely her mother and daughter. She does seem to carry herself with some type of elegance, and avoids swearing whenever possible. By urban definition, she is what most would call a severe ‘cunt’.
Upon that token, it’s simply intrinsic to her being to be reserved, callous, and hard to control. She’s as tough as the most exquisite extraction of titanium. Becoming a slave to her emotions is a sight rarely to be exhibited from her, regardless of the scenario’s intensity. She’s always been the type of female less worried about the nails she might break, and much more concerned over how much she might damage her knuckles over your face, and how it’ll affect her ability to work the next day. She's extremely durable, detached, and furthermore ambitious.
It would not only be false to call her lazy or ignorant, but it would be a distorted perversion. Despite her disconcerting ability to take great leaps of faith, Irie is a woman well-acknowledged for her over-ambitious attitude and well-wrinkled brain. Her time is often spent drowning herself in work and recreational studies; whether or not this is a defense mechanism built of insecurity to avoid building connections is a factor often ignored or denied. She sees no profit in wasting her valuable time with mere entertainment when there are gains to be acquired, or at least that’s how she justifies it.
Responsible, mature, elegant, and acidic to the core, Irie differs greatly from her mother in terms of her mental and moral restrictions. Unlike Hinaai, she doesn’t believe in or care about the Soul King in the slightest, or any deity for that matter. She prefers to remain broad with her perspective, yet thin with her lines of morality. While she doesn’t stray within the confines of the law every day, her moral code prohibits her from acting overly ruthless and callous with the more important decisions. Naïve at first impression; she believes in second chances, mercy, compassion, and honor to guide the bulk of her decisions.

history
Irie was born into the prime line of the Jukan family as the sole female fruit to be formed within Hinaai's womb. And therefore being brought in the most illustrious family within Soul Society, the direction of her life had already been decided at the moment of conception, whether her or her mother approved of it. Little did she know, she would never naturally bear the same power her mother wields, and would consequently be seen as one of the greatest disappointments within her family tree. No amount of hard work would ever make-up for her genetic mishap; introducing great shame, distress, and relief to her as she grew.
Due to her mother’s duties as the Seventh Division Captain, Irie was never capable of spending a dedicated amount of time with her mother, and ended up developing a certain pain and collective of insecurities from that factor. She had always felt like a mistake other than an actual daughter, especially being a closeted lesbian, and drowned herself in studies and rebellious exercises in order to avoid the growing, deep-seated issues. None of which were tolerated by the Jukan family, nor Hinaai herself.
Under pressure from the aforementioned, she forced herself into the Shino Academy and found an affinity for both healing, and more prominently physical annihilation. The results of her studies and training would easily define her as a prodigy, yet her generational power skip confined her as average, considering the typical might of the Jukan. And without her mother’s permission, she entered the Gotei Thirteen not as a Nanabantai or Ichibantai member, but a Yonbantai Shinigami; if only to be with her concealed lover.
Like most secrets, her sexuality came to light with the upcoming Captain-Commander; Hinaai’s own eye. While her mother never verbally berated of her homosexuality, it was obvious she never approved of the direction her daughter was taking. All her life, she simply wanted to be loved, appreciated, and furthermore accepted. With the gravity of her mother’s disapprovals, Irie eventually broke off her affair with the female colleague whom soon died in war with Hueco Mundo; falling shortly after healing Hinaai’s burns. Bypassing depression, Irie shortly suffocated herself in more and more work, and ended up meeting Tengen Akira.
While the male was a great friend of hers, she was simply incapable of reciprocating the same feelings he felt for her. Her mother misconstrued their relationship for a romantic one, dismissing her previous affair as another rebellious trip, and silently approved her taste for the non-noble male more than another woman. And so, Irie went against her emotions for the coming years and accidentally bore his child. Due to the circumstances, she was forced to keep her pregnancy and birth in secrecy. And even though the child was a mistake, she would always love her child; her little Toppa.
She was forced to outcast her own daughter, but spent as much time as she could with her daughter, and watching after her when she couldn’t. While it pained her so, her daughter became the sole focus of her life and drove her into maturity and responsibility, especially noting that Toppa carried the spiritual power that she should have had. She wants the best for her daughter, places herself second, and will never want anything greater than that objective. Irie refused to become a lieutenant or seated member of her division, and declined any romantic inclinations for the one hundred and twenty years to come.
Upon witnessing what she perceived to be her mother’s death, a smile has not been seen upon her face since—and probably won’t until the death of Yuu Yashin and Sojiro Koshitsu. Despite never being close with her family or her mother in general, hell still hath no fury like a woman scorned.
