Skills
High Spiritual Power: Upon the union of soul and spirit, Raoul's spiritual prowess was enhanced beyond that of most spiritually aware humans. Although basic, their reiatsu is able to be felt and gauged appropriately, Raoul's is especially intimidating, often frightening those that aren't in the possession of a strong will. Through the pact with his spirit, Raoul's energy exerts a unique feeling, one that is akin to the air thickening around him, making it uncomfortable to be in his presence when his spirit is flaring. Such discomfort can cause people to feel like they're in an isolated area, one that isn't maintaining a steady flow of moving and fresh air. Those within 10 meters of him during this exertion will feel the influence, leading to mass discomfort if used within crowds. This, however, does not impede on weight or physical movement.
Mastered Hand to Hand: Through rigorous training, Raoul has sharpened his skill of unarmed combat to such a point that he is able to hold his own against people deemed experts in the art, including those of supernatural skill. Specializing in practical martial arts like Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and freeform Wrestling, Raoul specializes in isolating limbs and using enemies inexperience to bind them, often putting their limbs into positions that will cause them to snap or fracture. Although his punching ability is above average at best, his ability to kick and knee people, specifically at close range, is nearly unmatched. When used in combination with his abilities, it can feel like getting hit by a sledgehammer or, at worse, a wrecking ball. In combination with his spiritual entity, Raoul is able to break the grips of even the strongest foes, isolating their limbs and scrambling to a position where he can contort and break their limbs freely.
Mastered Agility: Realizing the futility of risking strikes to the face at an early age, Raoul has spent his entire life insuring that his face will never be tarnished. From as young as eight he has trained his body rigorously, focusing the entirety of his training outside of martial arts on perfecting his speed and flexibility. Prior to gaining his spiritual entity, Raoul was able to employ incredible feats of agility such as running along walls, running incredible low to the ground and even maneuvering himself mid air efficiently. Upon gaining his bond with Mistral, however, he found his natural agility augmented further due to his affinity with wind and greater understanding of how to best avoid being where his opponents think he is. While the alteration to his natural human speed was minor in comparison, his semi (legs and chest) and full transformation is another milestone entirely. Using Mistral's otherworldly agility in combination with his years of training, Raoul is able to move at such speeds that he becomes nigh impossible to follow without especially keen eyes. When running full speed, his body appears distorted and almost intangible, seeming more like a collection of vaguely human blurs travelling around the area. Even his maneuverability in the air takes a completely new form, with him able to ride the momentum of jumps to the point that he seems to be flying. While all of this is spectacular, his extreme speed combined with his rather mediocre durability means that he has to bet everything on his ability to not be where his opponents are striking, as his relatively fragile form combined with his breakneck speeds would add up to an incredible amount of force being applied, especially from other spiritual beings.
Âmelien (Soul Bond)
Âmelien (lit. Soul Bond) or Bonded is a term coined by the Belgrade brothers, who, due to spectacular circumstances, ended up with "fractured" souls. Upon undertaking a ritual to try and gain favor with spirits, the boys attracted the attention of two spirits, Agni and Mistral. Agni, a deity of fire, quickly filled the cracks in Favien's soul, whereas Mistral filled Raoul's. Upon entering their soul, they forcefully created a pact between their host and the almost parasitic spirit. Initially, the boys could only manifest the spirits within their mind, allowing them to hear the voice of their new guests. Eventually, they discovered that they could materialize the spirits into the physical realm by exchanging soul energies via the unique tether their soul possesses. By utilizing this exchange, they are able to bring forth their spirit guardian into the world, transforming their bodies, partially or completely, into the spirit, who becomes as tangible as a regular human.
During this transformation, the host will very much remain in control of their mind and body, but will temporarily have the physical and magical capabilities of the spirit. Raoul's spirit, Mistral, is a malicious wind spirit that can control nearby air, pressurizing it or displacing it to remove or create friction. Although he cannot control air at a distance, he is an expert at controlling the air within his personal space, often giving him the impression of manipulating gravity, though such a power isn't actually within his grasp.
Spiritual Inhabitant:
Mistral, The Cold, Northern Wind.
Spirit's Appearance:
A powerful spirit, embodiment of malicious winds, Mistral's chosen form matches his nature perfectly. Upon his head he features what appears to be a crown of bone, which takes up the majority of his cranium up until his face, which is a pale blue canvas featuring nothing but the base color, two streaks of black and a wide, constantly grimacing mouth. Following down from his skull, Mistral's neck maintains the 'bone armor' motif, as do his pectorals and shoulders. Upon reaching Mistral's biceps and abdomen, however, the makeshift armor splinters off, exposing more blue skin, which maintains a texture similar to a lizards; scaly, yet smooth to the touch. On his abdomen, Mistral possesses four yellow stripes on each side, which travel in to the middle of his stomach.
If one was to gaze upon the arms of Mistral, they would notice that they are split down the middle in a way that allows him to store a set of pseudo bone blades, which can fold up into the cavity of his arms, as well as fold out in an instant. Moving further down Mistral's body, the black and blue color palette remains largely the same, with his legs following a roughly human shape. On the back of each thigh, hamstring and calf, Mistral has even more of this so-called bone armor, which possess convenient cracks and joints to allow for free bending and movement of his knees and legs.
Spirit's Abilities:
Mistral, being an embodiment of the wind itself, has an incredibly strong affinity for the wind. Manipulating it, creating it and removing it are all feats that come easily to Mistral. Due to the style of fighting that Raoul and Mistral employ together, Mistral has limited (but enhanced) his focus to air manipulation within a personal range, offering Raoul staggering agility as well as many defensive and offensive techniques. Primarily, Mistral seeks to increase or decrease the air pressure or friction around Raoul's body to employ various affects, such as an increase in speed or deflection of projectiles/strikes. This mastery of personal space alteration often leads enemies to think there is something more to Mistral's abilities than merely wind, however such claims are merely unfounded or based in frustration.
