Walking through Rukongai always tugged on various strings in Sano's heart. He remembered days of being nothing but trouble. Making friends was very difficult when one's very presence caused other spirits pain and poor health. He also remembered the motivation. His life with Old Man Sin wasn't the greatest, but his teaching helped him get realized as talented shinigami potential. As a result, he felt obligated to revisit his old home every now and then to check up on the old man who still held onto his drinking habit.
"Ojii-san!" was his usual greeting before proceeding to force his way into the small home. In spite of it's size and lackluster decoration, it would always be what Sano regarded as home. Especially with the most familiar decoration: Old Sin's drunken body only half-conscious and slumped over a table. Sano would be lying if he said that it didn't give him a bit of a scare every time he saw it, but something about helping the old man into his bed and tidying up the place brought back fond feelings.
Stepping outside, Sano would slide the door shut beside him before looking at the sky and dwelling on the setting sun. He recalled his childhood in the Rukongai, and how he would normally set out to steal whatever food he could help himself and the old man survive. But there was no need for that, now. It kind of left him at an awkward stance of not knowing what to do with himself.
