BANKAI | KISHIJOJISHI BŌMEIKUROGYŌ

NAME | The Knight's Epic Black Exile Penance

RELEASE PHRASE | Bankai

BANKAI APPEARANCE | The hand-and-a-half sword turns black and changes into an exotic katana-based design. His robes change to coal black and the fur-lined trim as well, and the bottom edges of the cloak are fringed and frayed as if from wear and tear over the years. Essentially everything he wears turns black and seems to meld seamlessly with the darkness and shadow.

ABILITIES:

HE WHO BRINGS THE NIGHT | Seishiro gains exclusive access over his shikai abilities, obtaining versions of them that are exclusively reserved for use by him while within Bankai. Upon mastering his zanpakutou he gained the powers it tried so vehemently to keep from him, and no longer requires to remind him of its double-edged nature: He has already overcome the zanpakutou and is free to harness its powers in whatever way he desires. Because of this his abilities are no longer games that share abilities, but abilities kept exclusively by him.

DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS | Shadow affinity is one of his most precious gifts. He can injure a target throw their shadows, hide inside shadows undetected by any forms of invasive perceptory skills, and is essentially one with them. His ability to immerse himself through these shadows is incredibly fast-paced, allowing him to submerge and emerge with great haste . Anything shadow-based is susceptible to the zanpakutou's affinity, as the sword can naturally rend even shadows themselves. While hiding within a shadow Seishiro cannot be harmed, but cannot directly harm an opponent while hiding inside the shadows. His sword can meld partially into the shadows, disappearing into one and attacking from another.

WATCHERS IN THE NIGHT | Those who have been killed by the zanpakutou become slaves to its purpose. Their souls and zanpakutou (or their equivalent weapon manifestation,) are taken by the zanpakutou to serve as shades. These shades are based on the lore of horrific entities that haunted their victims ceaselessly. While hunting a target they move with incomprehensible speed and strength, but if they are so much as looked upon, they freeze up in a quantom-locked existence. Whenever a person turns their gaze away, they disengage this quantum-lock and continue in their chase, and have the capacity to match if not outclass stepping speeds. Not just any eyes will suffice; a person has to use their god-given eyes to stop the shades in their tracks. Artificial eyes will not stop the shades from moving. While caught in the quantum-lock there is nothing that can be done to the shades. They cannot do harm either, but they cannot be harmed or even be interacted with for that matter. They are stuck in their current position until all eyes move from them, after which they may resume the hunt. These shades must be obtained in-character. They are as strong and agile as Seishiro, can utilize any of his zanpakutou techniques, and all carry zanpakutou of their own to fight with. They may spawn from any shadow within range of his reiatsu, and act as a hivemind, sharing everything they perceive with Seishiro and amongst the shades themselves.

The shades only can't harm while stuck in their niche quantum-lock; otherwise they're free to serve their steel to anyone. The quantum lock is, in essence, temporary invulnerability. My shades can't feasibly be killed, they're shadow made manifest after killing someone, so in a sense they've already been dead for a long time, and every time you look at them, they go invulnerable. Their speed and strength is at least equivalent to Seishiro's, though if he killed someone really strong, their shade should be as strong if not stronger.

Their two drawbacks are: The sight-induced quantum-lock (which also serves as a defensive boon,) and the fact that Seishiro must obtain them in-character and I wouldn't start even with one. To make it fit Bleach verse standards, I beefed them up with better speeds/strengths, a zanpakutou/weapon, and they have the ability to use some of my techniques, though mostly only zanpakutou-based.

It should be noted that these were inspired by Doctor Who's Weeping Angels, so below I put a gif that helps illustrate how fast they can be to move feet in just flickers/blinking.

yeah there's a problem with this. It doesn't fit the theme of your shikai at all, from what I'm seeing. You're using games and your first ability to give you an excuse to give you any power you can think up. You need to have an actual theme, pls.

I would like to beg pardon; even shunsui's themes didn't really fit together well. they were all children's games yes, but each one was its own sort of utility. They are war games that were tampered with by his incompatible nature with the blade, distorting the effects by making the zanpakutou double-edged. It scorns him for twisting its nature, which is why the shikai is double-edged.

Kishijojishi is going to be a very critical zanpakutou; it is a devastating blade that holds true to one idea; a blade in the dark is worth a hundred on the open battlefield. if plot goes along ideally, it will be discovered that the zanpakutou didn't originally belong to him, and is in fact someone else's.

Seishiro is a stubborn warrior who believes in honorable combat. To master his blade, he has to abandon his lust for fame and glory, or he can never tame the spirit that is Kishijojishi Bomeikurogyo.

The spirit is a vengeful, begrudging type that prefers working in the shadows over open combat. The shikai was an imperfected form of the zanpakutou's manifested powers, and as such, seishiro's own soul had some influence on it, being forced to complement it.

Claiming the dead as my personal army was also meant to achieve a concept of 'reinforcements'. 'Sticking to the shadows' is the concept behind the last bit; not all wars are won on the battlefield. Some are won by gold, some by soldiers, others by the hands that dabble in the shadows.

All that I can understand, but the fault comes really to the first ability.

War Games.

The first ability removes the game aspect.

As long as that third ability exist, the theme of the shikai is broken because it's no longer game like. Thus in order to go with the theme, the third ability would have to be removed.

And that's because real war isn't a game, and it isn't always going to be fair; the zanpakutou no longer is compelled to oblige opponent's its power as a game, but instead the wielder solely harnesses these powers. The Bankai is meant to contrast the Shikai, it's the unmitigated power of the zanpakutou. The Shikai is War Games; the Bankai is just War. In war, you don't pull the enemy's punches; you conserve your strength and abuse what you can to make ends meet. It all seems to fit in together fine to me.

Not to mention the shades kind of act as a staring contest... erego game.

That's like saying that fire is reallyj ust molecules moving fast, so in shikai you make fire and in bankai you move super fast. Thus, not comfortable with this set up.

I mean it's my zanpakutou and it's not even doing fire->fast speeds. Its powers are a general theme which all fit together accordingly. Again, Shunsui's did four very different things that were loosely related only because they were games. Mine are all affiliated with the rules of war. I wouldn't be so adamant on this if I thought it was a lost cause; I'm confident that these fit together fine. I don't see why you feel compelled to keep insisting it wouldn't fit. There are tons of situations where a person's own morals clash with their zanpakutou's and it creates a kink in their relationship, which can stunt the zanpakutou's powers in shikai. Yumichika being the prime example; he can literally release it without its abilities. To say mine releases incompletely because of what I call him is just as likely.

That's completely different. Stunting the powers is one thing, but yours are completely changing.

SHunsui's were all games. Yours are not all games.

It's like this. Shikai=War Games. Ok, that's nice. Bankai=War. That's not ok. That's two different things. War isn't fair, yes, which is why the opponent gets the same abilites you do in shikai, but doesn't know how to use them. But it's still a game, according to your shikai. In bankai, it's no longer a game.

And like I said, the Yumichika thing is compeltely different. That's only getting a portion of the power (the form change) and holding back the actual power completely. You aren't doing that. You are just changing the theme of your shikai completely in bankai.

So my ruling on this is a pretty solid denial. Feel free to register once you come up with a final release befitting of your shikai.
