NAME: Hagarashi, Kakusa
ALIAS: N/A
AGE: 306 (Appears late 20's)
APPEARANCE: Kakusa is a man who appears to be in his late 20's. He has short orange colored hair and very odd looking purple eyes with several rings encompassing the eye. His face is adorned with many piercings and black studs coming out from several parts on his face and his fingernails are painted orange. He does this mainly because he figured if these people want to dislike him so much his appearance shouldn't matter too much and so he looks how he pleases. He is seen in an average shinigami garb, nothing special about his clothing sadly due to the fact that he has never needed to edit or personalize the outfit. His badge sits on his left shoulder while his scabbard sits on his right hip.
PERSONALITY: Have you ever met someone that lives to make a smart-ass comment on just about everything you say? You can't have a conversation with the person without him making all sorts of snarky comments that simply drive you up a wall? Most of the shinigami in the seireitei have, he's know as Kakusa. Kakusa is incredibly hard to be around for a long period of time. He can't shut up when he needs to and never appears to take anything seriously. Even in the dire moments of combat he throws out sarcastic and tasteless comments. Even being in the same room with him can be infuriating because of the fact that he'll throw strange looks at you, turn away for a moment, then do it again just to see what you'll do. He acts as if he wants to say something but never does. Many divisions have thrown him off to another simply because they don't appreciate his attitude.
Some officers like to make fun of Kakusa, they do not appreciate his attitude and like to mock him or his "useless" zanpakuto. He has met many officers who tend to find him obnoxious or difficult to work with while the rest try to ignore him for the sake of the mission that is at hand. From a day to day basis however Kakusa is very much alone, mostly intentional as he prefers to be how he is which alienates him from most of the people in the seireitei but also because he is afraid of allowing himself to become attached to people then watch them die in this dismal profession. He has found being alone and hated hurts less than getting close to the people around you and hurting when they die or become injured. This is not to say he is completely without friends, but only a very very small group of people would consider him "friendly" towards them.
Hon'no (Instinct) has always been the bane of his existence as a shinigami. Many in the seireitei find his weapon to be a joke while others know he rarely ever relies on the weapon to fight. Despite being told by individuals of every rank that his weapon holds great potential, he still feels as though his zanpakuto is at the very least under whelming compared to the others he has seen throughout his time as a shinigami. However the lack of raw power in his zanpakuto has made him more reliant on his personal skills, which in turn has made him a much stronger shinigami. Because of his opinion towards his zanpakuto, he never felt as though he could rely on it in a fight and has always relied on is own prowess in swordsmanship, kido, and general combat skills in order to defeat hollows and rank up.
ALLIANCE: Shinigami
HISTORY: There once was a man named Yama. He was a teenage criminal in japan whose head was worth what would be millions today. After he had murdered a noble on his way to a peace meeting with another land he became a high priority target for bounty hunters across japan. After years of relentless running this boy had finally died and his head brought to the emperor. His soul however remained in the woods, only to be found by a shinigami who proceeded to preform a konso. In the years after the attack on the noble, the boy had repented and found religion, working to make up for his sins for the rest of his days until he finally died. His transportation to the seireitei successful he would be able to live again.
The life he lived in the beginning of his life in the seireitei was simple. He was barely a teenager when he died so he had a chance to make a name for himself here in the seireitei. He felt changed by death, his thoughts on religion and on the world he knew so different from what he thought that he slowly became more and more cynical of faith in general. He had spent nearly 100 years doing little other than brooding over how his life might have been different before he had met a shinigami. The shinigami had managed to kill the hollow that had been terrorizing his village for weeks. He realized then that if he wanted power he would need to become a shinigami. Maybe then he would understand why he is on this earth. With this thought he found his way into the shinigami academy and began down the path of the gods of death.
In the beginning of this new life he found being a shinigami would be difficult. Not only did he apparently lack talent, but he also lacked the motivation to pass many of his exams. He had to stay in the academy an extra year before he was accepted into the 7th division. By this time his cynicism had already taken over his personality. He was nearly insufferable for most people and several levels of officers loved to pick on the weak new guy with a bad attitude. He generally disliked the people in the seventh division, and there were plenty of people who took enjoyment in putting the new people down out of some ideal of revenge for their poor treatment when they first arrived.
Kakusa was unhappy in the barracks, never enjoying himself but always working and taking on new missions (though not without complaint) trying to become stronger and prove he was worth something to the rest of the soul society. He didn't feel particularly strong, nor was he aware of his growing powers since nobody wanted to acknowledge him or his growing power. He was quickly becoming stronger but didn't feel as though he was making much progress at all. This continued until the day he was moved to a new division by popular request of the 7th Division. He was moved to the 9th Division where they realized he was stronger than the unseated members of the 9th. He was moved into a new position and while the people of the ninth division had generally the same opinion of Kakusa, it didn't matter to him though, he never really thought much of other peoples opinions about him.
After spending a short time in the ninth division he had made his way to the 8th seat. He had still not managed to learn the name of his zanpakuto, but during a battle against a hoard of hollows it was revealed to him, however the power of the zanpakuto was less than impressive. Only a few people were able to understand what it did and some of them just imagined it was simply a phenomena, but after showing his higher ups he had achieved Shikai he decided to avoid using the weapon if at all possible. From this point onwards though his skills in everything but the use of his zanpakuto were becoming noticeably stronger than his peers. However since nobody in the 9th division cared to see him around, they began a transfer process that would span several divisions: 3rd, 5th, 11th, 10th, and then finally landing a spot as the 4th seat of the 13th division.
Slowly but surely Kakusa found his way into the vice captain position. It was by no great feat or amazing battle that he achieved his current title of vice captain but simply though being consistently strong and saving peoples asses over and over. With Seijirou as the new captain, it was seemingly the perfect person to handle Kakusa. He was a seemingly very relaxed guy and as far as Kakusa could tell the two of them got along decently well. Kakusa now sits at his vice captain position, mocked by many and understood by few. His abilities mocked but never underestimated. A strange fellow, but nothing more.
