IMMENSE SPIRITUAL POWER| Of all the rumors said about Sumanai, the only one considered a hard fact by both the citizens of the Rukongai and the Onmitsukidou chasing after him is that he is in possession of an immense amount of spiritual power. Bordering on the edge of impossibility, it surpasses every seated shinigami, every lieutenant, and matches of the late Koshitsu-Soutaichou's own. How Sumanai is able to remain hidden in the Rukongai despite this insane level of strength is unknown, as are the properties and limits it possesses.

HAKUDA EXPERT| Years of martial study by multiple masters in the Rukongai have given Sumanai a strong grasp over hakuda. He can be considered a master at disarming others, and has been seen taking enemies three-on-one with his bare hands. His speed compliments this strength greatly, allowing him the ability to perform hit-and-run tactics. Often when fighting with hakuda, Sumanai aims to disarm and disable his opponent instead of killing them.

PERCEPTION MASTER| Through unknown means, Sumanai has attained a combat sense unrivaled by most shinigami. He is able to predict an opponent’s moves easily enough, even going as far as to figure out their moves before the enemy has themselves. His understanding of the human and hollow mind afford him this ability, as does his experience fighting in the streets of the Rukongai. Additionally, his spiritual sense is sharp enough to detect even the most skilled operatives and agents out there. Even when he is asleep, Sumanai is capable of detecting incoming targets and threats.

ZANJUTSU EXPERT| Just as decades of hakuda studying created an expert in close-quarters-combat, so too did decades of studying the sword create an expert in zanjutsu. Sumanai is absolutely deadly with a blade, capable of matching masters of the sword with his raw talent and unpredictable style. Though he has yet to master any conventional styles, he is able to blend them all into an assortment that is as lethal as it is random. Sumanai has aptly dubbed his own personal style with the name Yajuu-fuu, or the Wild Animal Style.

HOHO EXPERT| Sumanai is incredibly swift, able to outrun virtually anyone who does not match his skill level or spiritual ranking. He has trained himself in many running arts, such as parkour, and has practiced them in great length in the Rukongai’s many city-like districts. This has given him an incredibly fast reaction time. In this sense, one could consider him a master of hoho, as Sumanai has focused more on dodging and evading then he has actual running.

YAJUUHO The Wild Animal Step is a powerful stepping technique created by Sumanai to deal with masters of hoho. By thrusting his immense spiritual power into his shunpo, he becomes a literal wrecking ball. He is capable of traveling vast distances, such as dozens of miles, in the blink of an eye with this technique. Unfortunately, it cannot be controlled. Was a destination has been picked, Sumanai will simply crash there, destroying whatever is around him and generally doing immense damage to himself. Another method of using this technique is to rocket himself into the air and to crash down like a meteor. This allows him to perform a second Yajuuho when he lands, cushioning the force on his body and creating an explosion wherever he touches down.

SPIRITUAL CONTROL EXPERT| Years of meditation has afforded Sumanai the title of expert when it comes to spiritual control. He is capable of finely exerting his spiritual power, wasting very little if none at all. Control over his zanpakutou is also fine-tuned; however, its wild power and ferocious nature prevent him from fully reaching the next level as master. Sumanai is capable of hiding his power as well, enough so that even Onmitsukido operatives can respect him.

KAGE| Shadow is a symbiotic spirit attached to Sumanai. The true nature of its existence is unknown. Some believe it to be a bakkoto, while others sassy that it is a zanpakutou spirit that has lost its master. Truth be told, few even believe that it rightfully exists, and the majority of the Rukongai and shinigami that chase after him consider it an urban legend. In reality, it is very real, and rapidly consumes spiritual power and reishi whenever it can. It is formless, able to detach itself from Sumanai’s shadow to crawl into another. From there it will absorb their reiryoku. It is nearly undetectable, and after an entire night of feeding it can leave virtually any soul below great spiritual power drained to the point of death.
