Technique GuideHere on Slashing Opera, our view on techniques is an extremely liberal one. We believe that a technique should not have to be extremely defined to be viable or fair. As a result, we respectfully request that members do not add in things such as definite speeds, exact costs, or charts and tables to show how abilities affect different opponents. While we do enjoy the enthusiasm, a technique should show what it does. If you want to throw a fireball, simply state that your character throws a powerful, speeding fireball that can deal severe burns to the target. Common sense will help dictate what happens between ranks, and any real arguments can be settled with a friendly PM to staff. Now, there are also a few rules on techniques in general. Namely, a character cannot exceed more than thirteen techniques beyond their release, barring special circumstances. This applies to shinigami and their kidou as well. As we’ve seen in the series, and as said in the second databook, most shinigami learn a handful of kidou and master those and innovate them. Therefore, not even shinigami captains should have dozens of kidou. The main exceptions are to those who explicitly state that they want to be a caster-type character. Something like a Kidoshu member, or an arrancar who focuses on the mastery of bala or cero. These characters will be allowed additional technique slots, handled on a case by case basis. When it comes to registering techniques, outside of canon slots, most characters should not have abilities that are too astounding. An average shinigami, for instance, should not have the ability to throw out a black coffin; however, this is not an iron-clad rule. If a character starts with a history, and in that history they mention special events, training, or creation of unique techniques beyond the norm, we staff will be more than willing to approve them. For example, if you have a shinigami and state in the profile “_____ became a master of shunpo, and innovated it in numerous ways”, we’ll be happy to work with you on approving some crazy shunpo-based techniques. Now, it should be noted that this isn’t just a free card to insanely powerful or crazy things as a normal shinigami. Remember that everything is a case by case basis, and if something is illogical, it probably won’t be approved. There is no strict technique template for Slashing Opera. We simply require that you provide us the name and details of your technique when you motion for their approval!
