"Y'know, I never suspected I'd see the likes of you this far south ever again...," he said, his arms folded over his chests as he looked onto his former comrade. His voice was known for the thick rasp that vibrated off of it, cutting silence to bits in the face of his enormous stature. Here stood a man built of the dirt of the southernmost Rukongai district, 80. He took a deep breath before he continued on, now leaning on the table that separated him from his brown-haired guest. "You left over a century ago and now you wish to just show up once more. And nevertheless, to ask for my help. You've sunk low, Fujiwa--"
"Do not call me by that name, old friend." Okutō interrupted calmly though his host on the other side of the table could see the rage bubbling up behind the unassuming face that this one had adopted in the recent past. "I come here to ask a favor of you. Not to be taken down a path of memories."
"Ah, but just so, isn't running around with me a path of memories in itself? You only came to me because you know no one in glorified fallout shelter can help you with what you desire. Little ol' me can, though, huh? And so you come to seek the aid of an 'old friend'." the man said with a mouth full of disdain. "You can't even call me by my name. It brings too much shame onto the nobleman who you're posing as."
"I will not take insults from you, friend. I am a Taichō of the Gote--"
"Cat shit!" the darker man shouted, standing suddenly from his seat and slamming his hand down into the table, denting it even before his hand made contact. "Don't throw around positions out here in the wilds, Raippon!"
"I told you not to call me by that name. It is merely a relic of the past. My name is Jukan Okutō."
"You mean Fujiwara Raippon? Former leader of the Fujiwara Crime Family?"
"And you are no better, Kokkō Eiga1, current leader of the Kokkō Crime Family."
"I don't hide who I am, Raippon. You have taken up these robes to try and hide the number of scars that lie below them. I bare mine to the sun proudly."
Okutō's brow furrowed slightly as he faced this defiant man he once called a brother-in-arms. It had been over a century since they'd last met, when Osei forcibly removed him from the wilds. He didn't expect him to be alive, but to help with his task, he had to hope and come to see. Thankfully, he was still alive, but he didn't seem all too willing to aid his former comrade in his task. Why would he honestly? Okutō couldn't exactly say he would help either if he were on the other side of the table.
The tension was palpable, but Okutō knew this man and the pressure he felt in the air was still malleable. He could still sway Eiga, though it would take a fair amount of convincing. But what sort?
"I can offer you a small fortune for your aid, Eiga-san."
"I have no use for your coins. I am the leader of a crime family--and business has been plentiful in the century and change you spent caged up in that "noble" doghouse. Try again, Shinigami."
"So quickly you've abandoned my "true name". You must know then that it holds no value to me anymore."
"Jokes. The value of a name is eternal to he whom it was bestowed. You know Raippon is still as much a part of you as Okutō is. You just hide him deep within the prisons of your soul. But, if I know my friend, will not be held in silence for long, huh?"
"You know nothing, Kokkō Eiga. Raippon was killed the moment I took grip of this Zanpakutō."
"HAHAHAHA. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!" he laughed heartily, patting his chiseled belly. "Zanpakutō... hehe. We out here fight with real swords."
"Then show me your sword, Eiga-san. I will cut it asunder." Okutō said calmly as he rose from his seated position, his right hand positioned just behind the tsuba, ready to push it from the scabbard. "I will show you what Okutō is capable of. He is far beyond that of Fujiwara Raippon."
"I would argue that this is Raippon speaking right now," Eiga chided, swinging his massive blade over his shoulder and widening his stance as he narrowed his eyes on Okutō.
The pressure he exerted was massive, even enough to rival Okutō's own and make his knees buckle slightly. Truthfully, the Taichō could not be surprised by it. Eiga was fierce in battle and was an older soul than he was. He recalled how he would cut through their opponents when they were allies in battle. He could only hope now that his blood wouldn't be added to the river that had already washed over the black steel of Eiga's cutter.
"I should warn you, Raippon-san. Kuroi Yūrei2 and I have learned some tricks of our own..."
"Just as well. No evil can hide from the light of Taiyōnokanmuri, Eiga."
"Well then... let's cut these words from the air and start cutting each other!" he said, smiling a smile slick with sadistic intent. His eyes gave off a red glint, the classic mark of Eiga's bloodlust and desire to win. He had nothing on his mind other than to cut down his former friend. Failure was not on his itinerary.
1Kokkō Eiga
A former friend of Okutō prior to being found by Jukan Okutō. He is known to Eiga as Fujiwara Raippon, former leader of the Fujiwara Crime Family to be allied to the Kokkō Crime Family in the District 80 of South Rukongai. Despite not having training as a Shinigami, he is a force to be reckoned with an is of about equal skill with Okutō. He has his own unique brand of techniques that he employs in battle.
2Kuroi Yūrei (黒い幽霊)
Black Ghost is the weapon of choice for the crime lord, Kokkō Eiga. The blade is massive, double-edged and has a spear-like head with protrusions on other side to increase its cutting capacity. The blade features a red brand throughout the body of the blade that is somehow reactive to Eiga's reiatsu. The blade itself can detach from the hilt and is attached to the hilt by a chain within to extend its reach. It has been with Eiga since before Okutō met him and he is more than proficient in its use.
