LENNETH
beast inside Ah, the sweet sweet taste of actual prey. She’d missed that a lot, lately. Having been in the employ of the Septima had been pretty boring so far, aside from the occasional riots and mop-up operations. Sure, she had been spending some more time lately getting some assistance with her Sonido, but in exchenge she’d had to do boring things, such as reading. Who even did that? There wasn’t a single book in that man’s library that taught her anything remotely useful. History, religion, science, how did this assist anyone in the day by day struggle that was life? Not at all. Of course not. Those were just words. Sure, one had to survive first to write a book, but most that did apparently weren’t so interested in actually furthering themselves. Writing a book does not help the author one bit, it only allowed others to profit to them. It strengthened one’s own competition, for what? This thing called fame? Who even needed that? And even if one needed it, there were other ways to gain it. Like Lenneth had, when she’d come here with this man. She’d killed, since then, and found assassins just like this one, whenever they tried to pull something. They really did not seem to realize just how much they stank. Or maybe they thought her gone, given that she’d never become that man’s espada proper. In either event, she kept chewing on that severed leg some more, while she watched the assassin limping away. Sadly, it was just a little boy, but then again, the weak were those suffering the most from an inattentive ruler, who was currently spending time with some other Espada. Not that Len cared. She lowed having something to hunt. That’s why she’d let him run off after maiming him, giving him that little headstart, while she helped herself to some meat. But even that was gone eventually, and since he had not even made it to the city’s borders, she had to decree him a failure. Not that she would have had any kind of pity otherwise, it would just have been more interesting. Thus, she got up again and dashed after the youngling, catching up rather quickly without even exerting herself. Next time she would take an arm or so. Her blades were still drawn, and she wasted no time playing with him any more than that, or even announcing her return. She’d simply jump him from behind and ram her left blade into his back, before exerting strength and slowly, yet decidedly, heave it upwards. |
