“Well, I’m not terribly pleased.” Kaori reached for the glass of whiskey she had poured herself earlier. She was by no means a heavy or even a regular drinker, but on days like this a glass on the rocks helped to ameliorate the… painfulness that was other people. “In fact, you could say I’m downright furious.” Which was a lie, of course - if that was the case she would probably have thrown her drink at him already.
The officer sat seiza-style on the cushion in front of Kaori’s desk, looking unsure of himself. He had just reported another string of corpses discovered in the 87th East district of Rukongai, but so far his captain’s response was disconcerting. “So, what do you think I should do?” he said hesitatingly, trying to break the silence.
“Leave, for one.” Her response was quick and to the point. “I need to deliberate.”
Without another sound, the shinigami scrambled up off the floor and hustled out, sliding the shoji-screen door shut behind him. The only sound left in the room was the crackling of ice and Kaori’s breathing. Bending her head down, she pulled the file folder over to her and was about to remove the papers within when the door slid open again.
Kaori snapped her head up. “What now?” she said crossly. “I’m busy."

The image of a younger male would come into view, haori tossed over left shoulder with zanpaktou missing from form. Chin kept low with eyes slightly drooping- as though fatigue had taken him long since before, he stepped himself into the room- office, whatever she called it, uncaring really for formalities. Whether or not she knew who he was didn't bother him- in fact, he'd rather she ignore him in entirety. But, she hadn't. She'd spoken to him in a snippy tone at that, as though questioning what his purpose was. .. What was his purpose, again? Forgetting entirely, but ignoring such a thought as he took a gander at the cushion that sat yonder front of desk, he seemed to smile a small smile in itself, footfalls even as he cast gaze at her a brief spell.
"I'll take that, thanks."
Doing so- flicker of movement made as he picked the cushion up and held it carefully under right arm, he turned himself and headed once more for the door, simple as that. As quickly as he'd entered, he'd made move to exit.

A figure strode into her chambers, its shadow passing by the wooden bookcases of curios. A faint, murmuring whisper filtered through the chamber. The captain thought it was familiar, but…
“Take what?” No pleasantries, just the flat question mark (it was more of a period than anything) to acknowledge the visitor’s presence. She didn’t even deign to raise her head. However, Kaori did tilt her brows upwards a bit so she could look without taking her eyes off of her paperwork.
She scanned the new figure with only a brief flick of her eyes, but then the body more fully coalesced in her mind and her head snapped upwards. Kaori sighed. The corners of her mouth drooped in disapproval. “Sit, Seta-taicho.” The word was an arrow directed at Seijiro’s back, aimed to kill. “If you’re going to use my furniture, you stay in my room.”
“Plus,” she added after taking another swig of whiskey, “if you’d care to stay I have a bottle of whiskey I need some help with in disposing."

Ah... no. Responses meant that he couldn't go about his business like usual. Responses meant that he'd actually have to waste time talking to her rather than catching a good- Wait, could he act like he hadn't heard her? Contemplating such as his body seemed to stop itself for a brief second in time, he realized this would be impossible. His entire plan just about falling out the window as he groaned to himself as to not disturb her tone or her entire mood in any way, he lifted his right hand to rub itself across his cheek, turning himself 'round to face her.
"I said borrow, didn't I? Come now, Itta-"
Blinking openly as his speech seemed to just about butcher itself, he found the words lost, entirely forgetting her name. Head slightly tilted off to his right as he made amends to remember or rectify the situation, he merely stepped himself back in her general direction, hoping the memory in itself would return to him as he set the pillow down. Seiza-style? Feeling no need for such formalities as he laid himself 'cross right side to rest head against cushion, he lifted up his left hand easily, as though waving away the offer. "Drinking right now seems like a bad idea for the both of us. If you insist, however, i'm all for it.. Itt- .. Ka- Ka..tanda-san?" Yes, that was it.
