Site Plot

No one knows if it was an arrow, a fang, or a sword that lit the powder keg. Tension had been building up for centuries between the Shinigami and Quincy. In Hueco Mundo, the Hollow Kingdoms were growing bolder with every passing year. Even in Hell, a realm sealed tight by the Shinigami, evil things were stirring. It only took the wrong man being the leader of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads to ruin the balance, and ruin the balance he did.

For five hundred years there was spiritual war. Entire tribes of mediums--humans with spiritual powers--were wiped off the face of the earth. Hollow Kingdoms fell and rose like the tides of an endless ocean. Only the Shinigami, whose rigid systems and outdated military could not stand against the ever changing swarm of enemies, began to truly break. It was Jukan Hinaai, the last Soutaichou, who tried to change everything. With a Bankai so powerful it is said it could create stars, she sealed the gates of Hell, smashed every Hollow Kingdom into the sands, and led a crusade against earth that left the planet a spiritual wasteland. This event became known as the Slashing Opera, where Hinaai brought down the curtain on every enemy of the Seireitei.

That was two hundred years ago, and the Shinigami have yet to recover. From that period only a handful of captains survived. The Central 46 itself was completely wiped out. Now the Seireitei is ruled by martial law, the current governing body being the current generation of thirteen captains which act like a council.

On Earth, almost all spiritual power was baptized from the planet. The birth of hollows, despite the increase of human mortality rate, is less then a percent of what it once was. Spiritual humans are more rare than ever, appearing one in every one hundred thousand. Only the Quincy remain strong, for their pact with the Shinigami saved their race from complete annihilation. But even then they are divided. Some agree with the Shinigami, and have put down their bows in search of peace. Others want the death of their oppressors and to embrace the culture they have since thrown away. Only time can tell what can come of this.

Lastly, there are the hollows themselves. When Jukan Hinaai led her crusades there, she was more thorough then thought possible. Once Vasto Lordes numbered in the dozens, and each one held a kingdom more powerful than the last. Now only a handful remains, and of those three removed their masks. The birth of arrancar has since swept over the sands these lasts two centuries, creating a cultural revolution in a place where forming a proper civilization was once thought impossible. Of the entire race, ten have stepped up to lead. Just as with the Quincy, only time can tell what will come of this.

In the current day, the spiritual world is more convoluted then ever before. The Quincy have regained much of their old power, the shinigami are struggling to keep up with the high volume of dead souls, and the arrancar and hollow are slowly forming a world that will not have room for anything else. Some say that a new powder keg is being formed, and that if this one blows, the entire balance may shatter, and that a new Slashing Opera will begin.
