NAME: Asbel (As-bell) Thatcher (Thatch-er)
RACE: Fullbring
ALIAS: Demigod of the Seasons
AGE: Seventeen as of the Fifth of April
APPEARANCE: Asbel's appearance is highly common for anyone of Japanese orientation. Short black hair, slanted eyes, thin chin, almost a olive skin-colour, and a height which would not differentiate from the other mass of people bobbing in and out of a crowded street.
Asbel's true appearance lies hidden to those without spiritual powers, however. A set of wings, bright white and perfectly groomed lay ingrained to him, sucking the colour of what he is wearing on the very base and fading out to a pure, snowy white. These wings are easily manipulated, and phase through any non-spiritual object that touches it, meaning that they remain highly unaffected by most of the day-to-day life (Asbel's own body not included). Either only those endowed with enough spiritual energy to see them, or something spiritual in nature can touch the wings.
Another tidbit of Asbel lays hidden, but not due to it being spiritual. Lines of scars, which stack rows on rows line either wrist, forearm, and thigh. These are obviously self-inflicted, and through a sharp object, whatever said object was. These scars are oft hidden under long sleeves and pants, no matter the time of year, as Asbel refuses to let people see them under any circumstance.
PERSONALITY: Asbel is overtly timid, so much so that it would appear that he was almost scared of those around him. Due to this, Asbel conforms in any situation, enough so that he will not face conflict. Asbel is also calm to those around him, even if anxiety attacks his psyche at any point in time, capable of keeping a façade of calm even in the face of imminent death. Asbel can also shrug off insults and attacks, either physical or vocal, with a surprising ease, even if each one leaves a hurtful feeling on himself, he doesn't seem to ever really leave that calm state to those around him.
Asbel is, however, a very self-hating person. Not annoyingly so, he will never raise his voice to say that he sucks or this or that, he simply hates everything he does and thinks that everything about everyone else is so much more important then himself. Asbel as stated just before is also very quiet, never talking unless he was requested to, in a very militaristic fashion at that, the sort of mentality "you only speak when you are spoken to" coming into play here.
ALLIANCE: N/A
HISTORY: Asbel's birth was a calamity. Asbel's mother on the fourth month of her term was attacked by an unknown source, leaving her body mangled and broken, hardly able to keep herself alive, let alone a growing child. The doctors demanded that she get a hospitalized abortion at four months, but she refused to, unable to give up the child's life for her own. The result was that after Asbel's mother came full term and gave birth, she passed away soon after, only keeping herself alive long enough to give birth to Asbel.
Asbel was the third son of a set of highly successful parents. His father, no matter how much he tried, could not care for Asbel like he did for his two brothers, leaving the two brothers to create wrong and hateful thoughts about the newborn without the father interjecting, somewhere inside of himself believing that Asbel had killed his wife. This meant that Asbel grew up in a very hateful environment, by the age of four having been abused so often that he simply had grown quiet and subservient to his brothers, as if he ever rose his voice or talked back, they would beat him until he cried and then beat him until he stopped.
Asbel wasn't sure when the wings on his back appeared, however he felt as though they were always there. One day, he saw them, and simply asked why his brothers did not have wings like he did, in an act of courage that he was not sure where it came from. The result was that his brothers thought he was mocking his late mother through calling himself an 'angel' and beat him nearly into a coma, requiring medical attention afterwards. Child protective services were always outside of the child's reach, no matter how much evidence surmounted for the boy to be removed, as he had both grow so used to this abusive lifestyle he did not see anything wrong with it, and that his father was very wealthy and rather influential, heavily implied threats being dropped on the doorstep of the investigators who dared try to knock on his door. The same time that he fully acknowledged his wings did he start seeing people of the dead and monsters, which terrorized him in his dreams. Thankfully, no sort of monster attacked him in actuality, but it was always on his mind that these predators would kill him.
Roughly at the age of seven was when Asbel's fullbring materialized. Ever since he was beaten, he never said a word about his wings, but groomed them and took good care of them every day when his brothers weren't looking. He grew so attached to these wings, which he thought to be a blessing from heaven as one thing that he had control over, that his brothers could not break or beat, that it became the outlet of his attention. The wings responded to him fluently once it materialized, capable of taking on different shades and colours at first, but evolved steadily over the years.
By the age of ten his father had hung himself in his study. That year was the worst, as the brothers were forced to face the last of the family being taken away. They blamed him, again, they beat him, again, and he did not fight back. He came to school with bruises and black eyes for weeks, and afterwards, while the bruises faded, red marks began to appear on the wrists in the place of the brother's abuse, Asbel having turned to hurting himself to feel something, if anything, against the void that he felt. This was the same year that a monster did attack him, his father having returned as a grotesque, masked monster which haunted him as he slept. It did not kill him, but tormented him for weeks, and only when it got bored and hungry, and chose to attack him, did Asbel use the energy so pent up in his wings. At that time, in a moment of clarity, Asbel learned to use the energy, twisting his wings into weapons, into long blades which he used to defend himself. He did not kill his father, his father left, and Asbel had not seen him since.
By the age of sixteen the household was in disarray. Asbel still blamed himself against all odds for the death of his father, and only continued his self-harm. His brothers had moved on, picking up jobs with their high GPAs straight out from university and leaving him to rot in a slowly decaying house. Asbel's personality, having been so warped by the abuse and terror that he felt, brought back stunning marks to an empty household, wishing to be given praise by nobody. He bought his own food and his own clothes with the money supplied to him, he cooked his own breakfast, lunch and supper, he cleaned, he did repairs, and he came home with 99% averages on every single test. By the age of seventeen, only months ago, Asbel had been given a choice between ten different universities wanting to take him in due to his unnaturally high scores, ranking amongst some of the "brightest and upcoming" in his school.
