Canon Spots

This squad is in charge of the funerals, festivities, and war preparations for the Sereitei. They are also in charge of monitoring and advising the other Squads. Their number one priority, however, is to protect the Sōtaichō.

The flower that represents them is the Chrysanthemum - symbolizing Truth and Innocence.

This squad is iin charge of intelligence of the other races. The Quincy, the Arrancar, etc. Their mission is to send recon units and observe them at all times. Many times those who are a part of the 2^nd squad are also part of the Stealth Force.

The flower that represents them is the Pasque Flower - symbolizing the phrase "Seek Nothing".

This squad contains the jail force of the Sereitei. Prisoners of war, traitors, and those who commit crimes are sent to the Nest Of Maggosts within their Squad Barracks and kept their within the SekiSeki stone. In addition, they are in charge of the interrogations.

The flower that represents them is the Marigold - symbolizing Despair.

The only Medical Squad within the Gotei 13, they are the hospital and the members the doctors & nurses. They provide healing for those who have sicknesses, or those who are injured in missions. During war times, they are sent out in battalions to continously heal their comrades. They are an incredibly vital part of the Gotei 13 and the only squad capable of learning Kaidō.

The flower that represents them is the Bellflower - symbolizing the phrase "Those Who Grieve Are Loved".

This squad is the seccond assault force for the Gotei 13. While the 11^th squad are melee based, and used as the main force, the 5^th squad is used moreso as a Commando Unit. They are also more Kidō based.

The flower that represents them is the Lily of the Valley - symbolizing Sacrifice, Danger, Pure Love, Humility, Sweetness.

This squad is important of, arguably, the two most important parts of the Soul Society. They are first, and foremost, in charge of the Shinōreijutsuin (Shinigami Academy) and they make sure that all of the Shinigami are trained well enough to create a newer and better generation. Secondly, they are in charge of protecting the Nobility in and out of times of crisis. 

The flower that represents them is the Camelia - symbolizing Noble Reason.

The 7^th squad is one unlike the others. They are the defense of the Sereitei. Behind their walls, they will be the first ones to defend against invasion. Their spirits, like their symobolization, are iron walls ready to protect everyone else.

The flower that represents them is the Iris - symbolizing Courage.

A unique squad, this one is almost completely focused on war time efforts. They are the Tactical & Strategical Unit of the Sereitei. They are the go-to squad when it comes to deciding what to do in war, how to avoid deaths, who/when to send into battle. They decide how to prep for wars and battles. They are very oriented on fighting.

The flower that represents them is the Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise) - symbolizing the phrase "Everything is Obtained".

The 9^th squad is one unlike the rest. They are the information center of the Sereitei. All reports are handed into them, before they post them all over the Shinigami Newsletter and hand out to the rest of the squads. They are also in charge of handing out the newsletter. In addition, they are the main support and back-up for the 7^th squad in the defense of the Sereitei.

The flower that represents them is the White Poppy - symbolizing Oblivion.

They are in charge of the whole of the Rukongai. From aiding them in their lives, to protecting them from the hollows that seem to sneak in at the edges. They send daily patrols through the Soul Society, in order to maintain the peace.

The flower that represents them is the Daffodil - symbolizing Mystery & Egoism.

The main attacking force of the Gotei 13 - this is the 11^th squad. They are all incredibly versed in combat, and the meat of the army. Their power is feared, and renowned throughout the worlds. There is an unspoken rule that only Melee-type zanpakutō are allowed within the squad, and is followed strictly.

The flower that represents them is the Yarrow - symbolizing Fight.

The Science Center of the Gotei 13 - they are the ones who develop new weapons, items, tools, etc. They are known as the department of Research and Development. They study Shinigami, the dead bodies of their enemies, etc. They do everything they can to create newer and larger ways to keep them an incredibly frightening military power - as well as making everyday life easier.

The flower that represents them is the Thistle - symbolizing Vengeance, Strictness, Independence.

This squad is directly in charge of maintaining the Human World. Many of the members of this squad are deployed to Earth in semi-permanent positions, cleansing the city they're in charge of, of all the hollows that attack. They also send along souls to continue the cycle, by purifying them and sending them to the Soul Society.

The flower that represents them is the Snowdrop - symbolizing Hope.

This is the most covert part of the Sereitei, who heed the commands of both the Central 46 and the Sōtaichō. They are in charge of the most top secret missions, and they are in charge of the assassinations. As they are their own organzation, they have a few rankings within them with three subsections. The executive militia is the highest ranked, and the greatest in hakuda battles. The Patrol Corps are well-versed in both Hakuda and Hohō, while the Inner Court Troop are the greatest versed in Hohō due to them sending messages throughout the Sereitei in times of emergency.

A Squad independent from the Gotei 13 and the Onmitsukidō, they take Shinigami from the academy who excel in Kidō and hone their skills further. Seeing a member of them isn't very commonplace, because of their own operations.
