APPEARANCE: The heritage and ethnic origin of the man had been displaced as a result of the experiments he was subject to. A body of porcelain complexion was return with a wiry frame lined with deep jet marks, networking their way over his body in intricate designs. They seemed to be responsive to reiryoku output of his body, and will directly correlate with color in comparison to any sort of mood. His pointed is tainted with several protrusions, all hollow in perspective, and his face resembles features of the same race. Keiji is rather beast-like in his features, with prominent and sharpened canines, and a threatening grimace of a face. Dark and rigid brows sit over amber eyes that never seem to fade. Atop sits a disheveled mop of ebony locks, complimenting his rough exterior.

PERSONALITY: Once a bright and studious young man, inspired by progressive culture, adaptation and the cultural and scientific advancement of Soul Society, Keiji has become a mere husk of his former shadow. His experiences have molded him into a scarred being, with little familiarity with his former self. Keiji is a radically driven and aggressive man, poisoned with a vile tongue dipped in emotional venom. His words and meanings are vague and intentionally cryptic at times, all while twisted and confused. The man shows his previous aptitude, but that bright spark and humanitarian outlook had dissipated with all moral sense. He is nothing but an impish, self-serving, asshole - more interested in the failure of others that most things. While he does show some virtue, and redeeming qualities, at best he is a snake with the sole purpose of punishing those who'd let him become what he is.

HISTORY: Kurosawa Keiji was born in a time were where ran rampart, and swords provided the strength to rule. A poor village family was what he had become used to, and during the reign of Shogun Yoshinori. Being from the peasant class, he was a victim of poverty and his days as a child and beyond were remembered only by the blisters on his feet and hands, and the scars on his body. As dissatisfaction grew with the Shogun, Keiji's own family would raise up against the power, in hopes of a better life beyond.

Keiji was a fighter from the beginning, and his village had armed themselves with their own farm tools to join the growing rebellion. Due to a remote location, they trained in the comfort - without fear of immediate retaliation. Unfortunately, his own would be among the first to be made example of. The nearby daimyo had instructed a troop of Samurai to comb through the mountains edge, a vital line in the trade route to the heart of Japan, and punish those that disturbed the peace that the Shogun and Emperor fought for. It was futile to resist, yet Keiji did regardless, emblazoned by the emotions caused by his life. Half of his village was executed due to harboring these warriors of treason, while Keiji was fortunate enough to die amidst the pathetic display of combat.

Perhaps it was that way of the warrior that carried on to the next life, to a life where he was able to thrive. The poverty was no more, as he was brought into a lesser Noble family for his modest looks and strong charisma. He boasted incredible intelligence for such a young and undisciplined man, and through the help of wealth, he was given the opportunity to make use of the potential. It was a mere thirty years in Rukongai before there was the decision to continue studies as a shinigami, his ambition to do good for the poorer districts strong, an everlasting memory from his childhood. Perhaps it was that ambition that would also damn the young soul.

With the academy conquered, Keiji's scored and contacts reflected his destination quite clearly, and he would be enlisted into the twelfth division. The years became blurred to Keiji from this point, his existence happening so fast with his own enthusiasm strong. He could recollect the memories of bouncing from 17th seat all the way to 5rd seat within a few short years, and, from there he was liked well enough to be placed as Vice Captain of the 12th division.

Keiji's master and he began as intellectuals for a greater cause, and with their combined mind power, they advanced technology within Soul Society greatly, most notably with medical procedures. Treatment towards lower Rukongai was better, and there was genuine humanitarian work being completed. However, there laid the lasting problem of a lack of power, and a lack of necessary resource to continue such work. Keiji became desperate, alongside the Captain, and this would prove to be the bane of such an existence.

They looked towards the extreme for a solution, and it came with the capture of a certain hollow possessing the ability to regenerate itself. With no subject to work with, Keiji volunteered himself, and together they worked to mix the physiology of each, hoping to birth an invention that would be able to fight the misfortune of poverty, as well as provide assistance to those in combat with the hollow. It was a misguided attempt, and when it came down to the action, it only birthed a monster.

Keiji's body aggressively rejected such a treatment, and while physically he obtained signs of change, it was only on the outside. Instead his body reacted with poison, and infection, and though the medicine helped, it twisted and distorted whatever mindset he initially had. The darkest parts of the man's mind was magnified, and his own power grew exponentially from his previous place, as well as his mindset for battle.

He had escaped the labs, and the Captain himself was forced to act with extreme caution and subtly, the work more than forbidden within Seireitei. Keiji would be the cause of several murders in the lower districts of Rukongai, existing beyond the borders in the forest, and hunting on their souls with cannibalistic fashion. While not a hollow, he possessed the tendencies of one. After two weeks, he was reclaimed, and with careful action, was accused of murder versus any accusation with hollow involvement, and his placement would be in the bottom of the Maggot's Nest.

Keiji's sentence was an eternity for his disgrace to the order, and for a hundred years he has been present in such a labyrinth and dungeon.

PRACTITIONER SWORDSMANSHIP: Once upon a time, Keiji possessed some sword skill, but after years of a devolving state of mind, he has forgot proper composure and technique with the blade. While still dangerous with a weapon, he possesses very basic skill and technique with it - resulting in just wild and powerful strikes.

HAND-TO-HAND EXPERT: Physical defense with his own body has never decayed while imprisoned, and with his bestial nature, Keiji is far more potent in combat with his own body. With instinctual movements heightened, his hands have become his most dangerous weapon. In addition, with qatars as a shikai, fist combat is much more second nature to him.

MASTERFUL AGILITY: As a shinigami, he perfected strategic combat, and relied heavily on speed and swift strikes to be effective in combat. Keiji was amazing with shunpo and the quickness and acrobatics with his own body. As such, he was a speed demon against hollows, and coupled with his perception, was able to perform at high levels with increased movement and velocity. Becoming more instinctual in performance and mind has only increased his ability to operate at high speeds.

PRACTITIONER SPIRITUAL CONTROL: Although Keiji used to possess a skill with kidou use, and the manipulation of his own reiryoku, he is long out of practice, and his unstable mind makes it hard for him to completely focus it. The only thing he seems to be good at is concealing the levels of his spiritual power, a biproduct of using this technique like second nature when he belonged to the shinigami ranks. However, now he lacks any ability to form stabilized kidou. His own reiatsu tends to run rampart when unleashed, and has a very "free" feel to its energy.

MASTERFUL PERCEPTION: Keiji has always been skillful with his perceptual abilities, able to notice the most minute of changes within a scene, as well as feeling. This skill was further practiced in his field of work, and he has always possessed great skills of deduction. Upon the shift of mentality, his perception maintained its high capacity due to the instincts of a more feral version of himself. Instead of just logical perception, he became more adept at reading prey, and the environment, able to make use of hereditary knowledge that is very appropriate in most wild-life.

HIGH SPIRITUAL POWER: Kurosawa Keiji was a prodigy in his own right, and a former Vice-Captain. If it weren't for his unfortunate circumstances, he may have even been the captain of the division he once belonged to. However, his practice was impeded with the failed experiment, and Keiji remained at a steady level of power during his imprisonment, that comparable to most fukutaichou.

GENIUS INTELLECT: A skill that is near required for the position he once occupied. He was a master of research and practice, and possessed amazing potential for such a young age. Keiji handled adaption well, and easily learned new tasks and fields of study - becoming most adept in medicinal studies, and chemistry. This pertained primarily to neural-chemistry, and biochemistry, though he was adept in the other fields as well. Mechanical engineering is his least practiced skill due to the level of human technology during his time of imprisonment.

Joukaku's sealed form has a slight variation to its shape, bearing no cross-guard and only possessing tightly wrapped black and red cloth a few inches higher than most blades. This reduces the total length of cutting edge, and there seems to be no reason other than personal preference of the blade; as it reminds Keiji of the poverty he had gone through, and the weapons he was forced to use. His relationship with Joukaku is extremely well, and is the only reason the sword was compliant with such a change.

The weapon spirit itself is a product of mythology, appearing as a detail-less visage in a room with several kabuki and oni masks. While typically voiceless, the faint shadow will place a mask on itself and gain audibility, able to mock the mood and orientation of each mask. Rarely does he deviate from two typical masks; a red oni, and a blue oni - being the absolutes of a moral spectrum. He is generally a level headed entity, though is extremely expressive when need be.

Once Keiji utters the word, "dekakeru" or depart, splits into two separate katars, sometimes referred to as Ao and Aka or rather, the two oni's that Joukaku adorns himself with. The appearance of each katar is similar in make, though varies slightly in design. Ao (Upper weapon) is a slightly shorter blade, and wider in design. It is a heavier weapon, and provides more defense than its counterpart, Aka. Aka (the lower weapon), is sharpened, and slim, meant for quick strikes and lacerations. The defensive abilities of such wain in comparison to Ao, but it hardly finds itself in such a situation.

出口DEGUCHI (GATEWAY): A passive ability, and the bread and butter to Joukaku. It allows the minor tearing of space, and can momentarily open up gaps between a domain. In a twenty-meter diameter, Joukaku is able to puncture space, and collapse the distance between an intended point, his weapon breaking through in another position in the domain of deguchi. If attempting to move beyond twenty meters while a limb is suspended between space will result in the barrier restricting around his arm, and eventually disallowing him to move beyond the boundaries. This gaps appears as a rip in reality, and are near-instantaneous between transfer, allowing him to deliver contact from any direction. The limits to such an ability requires him to have visual contact in one form or another of the place he is puncturing. In addition, the subject matter must not be in a solid state (he cannot force his hand to appear in the middle of a body, or in the middle of brick). The rips will repair themselves immediately once his body is not in contact with them, and they cannot grow any larger than his initial punch size.

[li]繋ぎTSUNAGU(CONNECT): An ability that remains active in a domain of a bit more than a kilometer in radius. Ao and Aka act as separate indicators in order to tag two separate locations. When both are tagged, a rift opens up roughly three meters in height, and two in diameter that remains open until he wishes it closed, or tags another location. These two portals can allow any access and exit, though the size is static, and forcing yourself through could mean one's body being torn into space. Keiji can only have one rift open, and it takes minimal effort to sustain an open one.

[li]埋蔵金MAIZOUKIN(BURIED TREASURE): Keiji and Joukaku's rabbit in the hat trick, and one of misdirection, and strategy. As Joukaku's prowess is driven around the control of the space within a particular area, it also can safely store stuff in that space. As such, Keiji makes use of what is known as 'hammer space' in order to capture objects in their current state, and saving them in that manner. This is done via ripping open a portal with Aka to absorb and store an attack (limited to a diameter based on his swing-size). For several hours after, he can store the attack before it must be released in some manner, and this is done by pointing Ao at a designated location, and forcing the attack to jet from a newly created portal. The range in which he can open a portal is relative to his proficiency with Deguchi. While hammerspace can seem near limitless, he can only store a certain amount, and is roughly the same as three attacks relative of his strength, or one that exceeds his own. The numbers grow exponentially for weaker than him. Power does deplete over time, and unless he releases the attack right away, its strength degrades by one level over every few minutes (one level each post). Objects inside hammerspace can only stay in hammerspace for a short moment before it is forced back out (three posts).[/li][/ul]
