Kira is well known for being able to switch gears from a professional demeanor to a sarcastic, witty Irishwoman. Kira loves her drink, like most of Irish decent, and happens to fall into the standard stereotype. She can hold her liquor, has a sharp tongue, and can be as witty and humorous as the best of them. Nevertheless, she can hastily switch gears and adjust her personality accordingly to a more professional and acceptable persona when necessary, and often expects others to do the same. Though no longer apart of the police force, she still remains an active member of the police community, often acting as a consulting detective. Due to the politics that became well apparent when a new police chief took over, Kira left her badge on her desk, though kept everything else behind the badge with her. Most of her cases now revolve around missing persons; though will often take the role of locating those who skip out on their court dates to make ends meet.
HISTORY:
[/ul][/span][/div]Kira and her twin sister Mira were born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Their father, Henry, was a police detective for Boston Police Department, to which one of the two would eventually follow the same path. Their mother, Savannah, had died during childbirth, leaving Henry to raise the two girls alone. Fortunately, Henry had his sister to help with that, and while the two girls grew up without a mother, they did have a feminine figure in their lives at the very least.
Both Kira and Mira grew up in the suburbs of the South Boston area, though eventually the daughters ended up staying and living with their aunt outside of Boston, in the North Shore at the age of five. Their father would visit on the weekends, though having developed a drinking problem after the death of his wife, it was decided that he would be unable to properly raise his own children as well as hold up his job. The family didn’t crumble at the least; in fact, Henry cleaned up over the years, though still kept to his drinking. His daughters still loved him greatly and looked forward to his weekend visits. There was no rivalry between the twins, and they relied on each other throughout their childhood.
Through their teenage years, however, they began to drift apart. The home they grew up in was small, and having six cousins under the same roof, it was hard to get any privacy alone. Mira ended up going through her rebellious phase quite hard, lashing out at her family and constantly staying out, overnight, sometimes, for multiple nights. She ended up dropping out of high school during her junior year. Kira, however, acted quite the opposite; she kept to herself after Mira ventured off to do her own thing, and kept her focus on her studies. She wanted to follow her father and joined the police academy as soon as she could, wanting to do something in her life that could make a difference in someone else’s.
However, when their father died, Kira took it hard. She was still a rookie when her father died; shot during a routine traffic stop, simply because someone didn't want to pay for a speeding ticket. Though the actions were caught on the car’s dash camera, the culprit escaped and was never found, despite the force’s best efforts. Mira disappeared altogether from her life from that point onward. Despite still having her aunt and uncle, Kira did her best to survive life on her own.
She rented out her own apartment in North Boston, eventually was promoted to the district her father once worked, and soon after, his position as lead detective. Like many who work the cases, however, over time the spiral began. Attempting to find the culprits behind such gruesome, meaningless deaths, some of which were far too young for the Irishwoman to stomach, led her to the very same bottle her father took to in an attempt to drown out the misery.
As such, Kira remained the stereo type; alcoholic Irish detective in Boston, living alone, with every viable relationship potential drowning or imploding via self-sabotage. Her life eventually landed her in New York City, as the desire for change drove her to move; not much of a change, yet a huge change at the same time. As a rival city in many aspects, it was a rough start at first. Nevertheless, she remains a bit hopeful that the move will help her start her life anew...
