While this setup had, in part, been her idea, it still felt kind of odd. To leave the actual weaving to someone else. Chie could feel the spirit at work, had a rough idea of how all this would be implemented, but it did feel somewhat disconnected, by virtue of being so thoroughly connected, ironically. Still, it was interesting to watch, and challenging enough to support. All in all, the first attempt went as good as it could, with both of them getting the incantation right, and at least the first barrier up and running. Chie was still not convinced of this being economic, but so far, the drain was definitely below what she had expected, so she allowed things to play out naturally. The first barrier did shatter, of course, but it would have been very surprising if it hadn’t. Even established Kidos needed a talent like her own to work somewhat well from the get-go, and this one might be uncharted territory altogether. So far, she did not find a fundamental flaw in it that she could detect, so she had not much to say. It was mostly trial and error on the mermaid’s part, after all. She was not even the only one thinking like that, although she usually took that with a grain of salt, coming from kohais. Even a senior member was not perfect, after all, and it got kind of annoying to fall for a simple error for weeks, because everyone insisted it wasn’t her fault. This time, though, it seemed to the correct assumption, and judging from just how the technique had felt, they had to be on the right track. “Of course. Tell me if I should change anything, though, Miss Operator.” |
