He wasn’t giving up, huh? Still offering that hand, despite it going ignored so far. Had to give him that much at least, he was definitely persistent. And she had progressively less reason to take it, given that it did kind of stupid like that. If she’d swatted it away, yeah, that would have been a statement. But like this, it was just like, nothing at all. But despite having decided to do that, she actually hesitated mid-motion, when he suddenly gave an answer that was both in synch with his previous remarks, but also unexpected. Mina blinked, trying to reason as to what exactly could make this man feel like that. Sure, it was most likely a lie or exaggeration, but still. What if it wasn’t? Did it make sense? She blinked a few more times, then took the hand, although still a bit puzzled. “I can’t imagine anyone making you feel as dumb as you make me feel here,” she replied, only to be called a goddess of wisdom in response. That got her to raise an eyebrow, but little else. Despite being Greek and a Quincy, she was not exactly the staunchest believer in, well, any kind of deity. It just did not really speak to her most of the time, although she could sense spirituality itself. In fact, she disregarded most of the things he said, since they sounded more like empty phrases than anything. With a demanding look that would not waver from reciprocating any eye contact, she would persist on something to actually happen. “I am no goddess. And I don’t want any praise or counselling, I want to know, to understand. Stop talking to me without actually telling me things. Like, with those thingies you’ve planted around here. That’s Quincy stuff too, but I have yet to know what exactly it is.” |
